The Firs Care Home

The firs is a lovely place, beautifully maintianed with particularly pleasant lounges. Every member of staff I've encountered has been cheery and helpful, with nothing too much trouble. The activities put on for residents are particularly impressive too - 'crafting' for the rollout of events celebrated throughout the year... and an exercise class which feels like a workout for any visiting relative/friend who wishes to join in! I would recommend The Firs very highly.

Mom is happy here and thats what really counts! The team at The Firs are amazing communication is good and everyone seems to care genuinely.

Fantastic facilities & staff. Very caring towards my mom (Mavis) and have a laugh & joke with her too which lifts her spirits. Can't tell you how much of a relief it is for me to know she is cared for in this way. I am very happy with her level of care & the facilities available.

I cannot fault The Firs. The care of my husband is fantastic. Nothing is a problem to any of the staff and they all work as a team. It is a real family atmosphere. They go out of their way to make sure he has everything that he needs and always inform me of anything that he needs etc. The entertainment is always enjoyable.

Overall I am very pleased with the care my mother is currently receiving. The quality of the food is very good and her room is always very clean, warm and tidy. The quality of the laundry is excellent, with items of clothing being washed and usually returned promptly. However, there have been several instances when clearly labelled garments have not found their way back to my mother. This is undoubtedly is a problem taking into account the volume of laundry made by residents daily; management have been made aware of this issue. All caring staff and cleaners are hard working, very pleasant and helpful. The administration is outstanding, with queries answered promptly and there is careful control of sundry monies. Extended welfare issues (appointments) are monitored closely. Everything is done to keep residents occupied; which is very much a labour of love in a very difficult environment. There is little doubt that The Firs fosters dignity and respect for all residents - Thank you

This is the first year my mother has been at The Firs Care Home. She is very happy there.

The staff are amazing. My dad is well fed & looked after. His care is amazing I don't think I could find a better place for him. Keep up the amazing work.

My brother moved into The Firs Care Home June 2024 due to his mobility and age-related issues, being 92 years. He adapted quite good with the excellent support of staff and care workers for which I am thankful. It was his own choice moving into care the home care system was not working for him. I shall be eternally grateful to all the staff at The Firs he has had various setbacks with his health but they have always sorted him out one way or another. Thank you all at The Firs Care Home. My experience of The Firs Care Home has been a very positive one. The staff are excellent. My mother went into The Firs on a couple of occasions on a respite basis before it became a permanent arrangement. She was made to feel very welcome and has settled in really well. Along with the rest of my family, I have peace of mind in that she's being well cared for and looked after. Please keep up the good work!

Visit regularly (weekly) for an hour or two always welcomed with a smile from the staff. If time permits they will stop for a brief chat and let us know if there is anything significant to respect. Place is always clean and tidy even with all the internal improvements ongoing at the moment. My sister has a poor appetite but they all try to find something she might like and always make sure she is drinking plenty. All considered this is a very caring residential care home.

Have always been happy with the overall care Mom receives at The Firs. There are usually plenty of staff on duty and they are proactive in dealing with the needs of the residents. The catering staff are particularly good and obviously take a pride in their work.

I visited many care homes before choosing The Firs for my Mother. I have definitely made the right decision. The rooms are very well appointed and everywhere is kept very clean. The staff are all so kind and friendly and my Mother is now settled and content.

The Firs is a well-run, professional care home, from the management team to all its staff. My Mother-in-law received end-of-life care, delivered with empathy, kindness, and consideration. From the food, room, activities, and care provided by the lovely staff, all were exceptional. We were continually kept informed of how my Mother-in-law was, which alleviated any concerns we had. We felt her welfare was paramount and individual to her. The Firs is a credit to the care home community and I must say we were also supported throughout with kindness. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Firs Care Home to anyone.

All staff made his visitors feel welcome and meals were offered to those of us travelling from a distance. The staff including the palliative care team made contact when he deteriorated to discuss how to manage his symptoms. The home itself was beautifully maintained, very clean and tidy and food was prepared on the premises. I cannot comment on the activities. I would recommend this home as a safe and caring place to live.

Such a lovely care home. The staff are so caring and understanding. Looked after my mom for the past 8 months, before she passed away. All the time she was there they did everything they could to make her comfortable and happy. In her last days, they also were there for us her family. Can not rate this home high enough. 10 out of 10 is not enough.

I struggled with the decision to put my mom in a care home, but at The Firs I feel very happy and content that my mom is in good hands, being looked after well and she is safe. The staff are fantastic and caring and go above and beyond. I can't fault them, they are friendly and polite and you are always greeted with a smile. If you have any problems, you just have to go to management, and they will try their utmost to resolve your issue. Great home and staff.

Our mother has been a resident at The Firs for the part of 3 years and we have been very happy with the care and attention she has received in that time. The home is very clean, well-furnished and decorated with plenty of space for the residents in the communal areas. The bedrooms are well-furnished and spacious. We are particularly impressed with the staffing at The Firs, there are always plenty of staff around and they are very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend The Firs to anyone who is looking for a care home in the area.

My aunt was transferred to The Firs, Sedgley after breaking her hip in a fall. She lost her mobility as a result. The staff and management are superb, they treat her with respect and they have loads of patience with her. The communication with me is excellent and I am kept informed of any issues as I do not live locally. When I visit, the response from all the staff is so positive and welcoming. I highly recommend The Firs.

Moving my uncle over to this wonderful care home has been the best decision ever made. Not only am I able to visit frequently, but the staff and environment are outstanding. It's always such a pleasure to visit to see how well cared for and happy my uncle is. He always looked so smart, clean and happy, nothing is better than seeing this and the peace of mind it brings. Thank you to the whole team for welcoming my uncle and for all that you do.
