It was during our initial visit to Rosemary Lodge that we were impressed by the cleanliness of the residence and the quality of the facilities it has to offer. Since that visit, my mother is now a guest and it has become clear she is always treated with dignity and enjoys the care and support of professional
enthusiastic staff.
We would have no hesitation in recommending the residence to others in need of similar care as my mother.

Rosemary Lodge offered my husband exceptional care whilst he was with the home.
Nothing was too much trouble.
He thoroughly enjoyed his time there and is looking forward to future visits all being well.

As my sisters family, we were very pleased that she spent the last few months of her life (April - September) in pleasant surroundings being looked after by people who really cared. Sadly she passed away on the 24th September.

A very caring home where one can lead an independent life apart from a caring family. It is very well kept inside and out.
The food is varied and individually served. The staff are qualified and hard working. They are there to keep us busy. My only criticism si poor toilet paper.

This is a lovely home. It smells fresh and clean. The staff are very caring and regularly visit residents rooms to check on them. The rooms are bright and comfortable. The staff make an effort to get residents to join in activities and my relative celebrated a 90th birthday while there, and a lunch
at a local pub/restaurant was arranged which she loved. Thank you.

Rosemary Lodge provides recently updated, clean and comfortable rooms with some of the best care workers in the business. The facilities through the home are constantly kept clean and meals provided are varied and nourishing. The staff are generally attentive throughout the day providing regular drinks,
snacks and care. As a daughter who’s mum was a resident for the last few months of her life, I felt at peace knowing that mum was well cared for. I knew that mum never had a reason to be lonely as activities were organised almost every day of the week and residents were encouraged to sit in one of the two lovely lounges for company. However, the bedrooms were also welcoming to return to if my mum wanted some quiet time. Every effort was made to check mum’s health and an advanced nurse practitioner was on hand when there were concerns with her wellbeing.

Friendly and caring reception.
Comfortable, light and reasonable size rooms.
I enjoyed my short respite at Rosemary Lodge where my sister is a resident.
Was pleased to see how she is cared for and understood.
I really enjoyed the meals being prepared for me. This was good home-cooking.
Thank you
to all the staff for their TLC. Will go again.

My Mother never wanted to live in a Care Home, however, she gradually came to regard Rosemary Lodge as her home. My Mum was always treated with courtesy and kindness during the 2 1/2 years she lived there. She had a fall and was taken to the hospital, from where they said she would have to go to a different
nursing home as Rosemary Lodge wouldn’t be able to cope with her needs. At 94 this would have been very distressing for her and the care team at Rosemary Lodge made sure they were able to have her “ back home”. My Mother subsequently died a few weeks later but the care and attention she received from all the staff went above and beyond what we as a family expected for her. We are very grateful to Rosemary Lodge and would certainly recommend the Care Home.

From my first enquiry over the telephone to my mother's stay at Rosemary Lodge, I could not help but be impressed. Not once did the manager try to convince me that she and her staff were passionate about caring for the elderly but she didn't need to - actions spoke louder than any words. It was impressed
upon me that this was now my mother's home and she, and we the family, needed to feel the comfort and freedoms of living in your own home but secure in the knowledge that she was well cared for and safe. As I left Rosemary Lodge on the first evening of my mother moving in there, I did so with total reassurance that she was enjoying the best possible care that she could have and in a most pleasant, bright and well-appointed home.

My dad went into Rosemary Lodge temporarily while we went on holiday. Friends and family who visited him commented on how good the staff were and how nice the home and his room seemed. Dad described the care as excellent and there seems to be plenty of activities and opportunity to socialise. The food
was plentiful and dad enjoyed what he ate.
I would have no hesitation in him staying there in future.

My mother was in Rosemary Lodge for respite and during the time she was there was very happy. The staff and other residents are very friendly and welcoming. My brother and I were able to visit whenever it suited us and were never made to feel unwelcome, or in the way. The atmosphere is warm, caring
and relaxing.

My husband was extremely happy, even though initially he was very anti the idea. He was made to feel very welcome. Staff were friendly, encouraging but not pushy and very efficient. His stay became a pleasure and that made me feel that I had made the right decision. His mobility improved and he put
on some weight both of which were beneficial for my husbands well being.

I was not sure what to expect on arrival, but I was soon at ease and realised what a happy home I had come to. Everyone was so attentive and kind in their time, never in a rush and making you so relaxed. Because of this my general health and confidence has improved so much. My outlook on my future has
changed dramatically from despair to a positive outlook. Every member of staff was excellent.

Personally we were welcome (with our small dog) at any time which was so convenient as we had to travel from Cumbria for our visits. Our dear friend was always clean, warm and well dressed. Always addressed by his name (never "love" "duck" etc) and treated as a person with views and opinions until the
end. The management bent over backwards to assist with arranging outside visits with us. Phone calls were returned when promised and always answered courteously. We felt the staff cared with real concern and affection for our friend.

I visited the resident regularly over three and a half years. Whenever I visited the staff were friendly, professional and caring. My friend was happy at Rosemary Lodge, he enjoyed the food. There was a happy atmosphere there. Recently they had a lot of work done on the garden and internal decorating.
I was always made to feel welcome when I visited.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.095)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.095) out of 10 for Rosemary Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.814 for Rosemary Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.814
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.281 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rosemary Lodge is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.4 = 0.781
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

"In the late ’80s, while studying Social Care, I began questioning why shouldn’t living in a care home be a well-deserved enjoyable stage of life rather than a place that is limited to God’s waiting room. Shouldn’t it be a time to socialise, active and nurture the spirit in a comfortable lifestyle? Shouldn’t a Resident be cared for as if they were family? The answer to all, was ‘Yes!’ And so, Rosemary Lodge was born and based on these values.

Today more than 30 years later, Rosemary Lodge remains in the same experienced hands. Many elderly ladies and gentlemen have resided happily in our home. It continues to enjoy a hard-earned reputation and is well supported by the local community and medical professionals. Our ethos and our standards remain consistent. Just as we take care of our Residents 24 hours a day, Rosemary Lodge does not stop in its efforts to evolve, improve and maintain its position as a leading luxurious care home."

"I found my dream job in 2004 – by sheer chance! I was helping out at Rosemary Lodge as a “Girl Friday” and I immediately knew where I wanted to grow. I started at the bottom and worked my way up – through hard work, gaining hands-on experience, and studying to become a Registered Care Manager.

My years at the Lodge have been wonderful – there is something special in the aura of the home, and the energy and attitude of our team. Our Residents and their families feel it as much as I do. For me, it’s my second home and I am grateful to be the Mom of our happy family here."

"One thing is certain at Rosemary Lodge –no two days are ever the same. It’s a great choice if you don’t want boring days.

A second thing is it is a friendly family home. This applies to Carers too. We work together to make a difference in the lives of those we care for.

There is little more rewarding than empowering our Residents to enjoy life.

My idea of a good day is finishing work, knowing I have put smiles on faces."

"I wasn’t sure what to expect when I joined Rosemary Lodge, but my goodness I was pleasantly surprised having only worked in a corporate environment, I was looking for a role that would be challenging but in a different way.

The Lodge certainly does that, there is a special feeling as soon as you walk through the doors such a family atmosphere and a happy, homely feeling. The aura around the home is peaceful and the warmth you receive from the residents just makes my job worthwhile."
