Review from Susan G (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Dad became a permanent resident at Waterloo House from July 2024 until his death in November 2025. Following Mum's death after a short illness, Dad entered the home, at this traumatic time in his life the staff were empathetic and compassionate beyond measure. Dad had never relished the thought of moving to a care home but his care needs required that this became the only option. Over the time he was resident at Waterloo House he came to feel very safe, and settled, and said how safe, cared for, and loved he felt. Dad was immobile but the attention to skincare resulted in him never developing pressure sores. His room had a pleasant aspect on to a courtyard and the pleasure he derived from this was immense, watching the apple tree changing through the seasons.

The home is not super luxurious but it is very clean, well maintained and warm. The staff were always welcoming and courteous they would seek to find solutions to requests. All house staff showed respect to Dad in life and after.

Overall Experience
My brother was welcomed into Waterloo with great kindness and consideration after a long hospital stay and a journey up from Devon to be near his family.
We cannot thank you enough for the care you provided. Whenever I visited I felt confident that he was in a friendly caring environment. It was such a relief for myself and my sister.
Obviously when his life came to a close it was a very sad time but we were all treated with kindness and compassion.

Thank you.

Review from Bobbie S (Wife of Resident) published on 23 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My husband was in Waterloo care home for 27 months and was looked after really well. Even in his last days the staff cared for him well. The staff treated him to good care and often had a laugh with him over what he said. The staff also had a lot of patience with him as when he first went in he took items of the wall but these were soon replaced. The food in there is very nice with a choice of dinner every day. The place always smells nice and the residents rooms are cleaned daily. I would recommend Waterloo Care Home for anyone who wants their relative or friend well cared for.

Review from Martyn H (Husband of Resident) published on 23 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My wife continues to receive the best possible care and protection, having been a resident now for over 5 years, admitted during the challenging COVID period. From the start, the management and staff have been first class in the care and compassion to her. The family atmosphere that is created for the residents is evident when visits are made. We as a family, know that she is in the best possible place to receive the support and quality of life that her condition allows.

The whole team have looked after my husband really well in what at times can be a challenging environment. They are all extremely busy but find time to talk to him and feed him. I am always welcomed when I visit and feel part of the caring family.

I can't think of a better place for him, it is perfect for his needs and he feels that he is still at home.

Review from Beverly H (Daughter of Resident) published on 11 November 2019 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Mum spent her final 14 months in Waterloo House. She settled well and was very happy as all the staff looked after her with compassion and friendship. She really felt like it was her home and enjoyed the activities and socialising with the staff and other residents. All the staff were very caring and treated her with dignity at all times. They were particularly kind in her last few weeks. The family are very grateful to Waterloo for looking after Mum so well.
