My friend is currently with you and I have to say that I have found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful. The cleanliness is of a high standard and I have found no unpleasant smells. All in all, if I ever need a care home, Victoria Court will be first on my list.

On the 20th of March 2022, my great aunt celebrated her 100th birthday. I was totally knocked out by what the staff did for her. We were given our own room, so that family could celebrate with her. As well as decorating the room, the staff had laid on tea, cakes and sandwiches for us. Nothing was too much trouble. They had also decorated the dining room and were holding a party with the other residents later on that day. One of the staff, who doesn't work weekends, came in to look after us. It was clear that every single member of staff, had real genuine affection for my great aunt and it was emotional to see. My great aunt had been quite poorly in the run-up to her special day, but everyone at Victoria Court was determined that she was going to get that card from her majesty. Can't rate this care home enough!

If I had a relative who needed to go into residential care, I would tell them to get him or her to register or go and arrange a meeting to see the staff at Victoria Court. The staff are very welcoming, smartly dressed, polite and the place is clean. You are given a room and an en-suite bathroom and toilet.

My mum came in for two weeks for some respite, she was very well looked after. The second week she came down with a chest infection but was soon dealt with and she was put on some antibiotics.

She did come home with lots of clothes that weren't here's that we had to return and her glasses were lost, these were expensive varifocals so we were disappointed.

Reply from Lisa Cox, Manager at Victoria Court

I have been coming and visiting my mother for the last 6 years and my uncle for the last three years. I have always been treated with respect by all the staff. They always treat my relatives with all the care in the world as if they longed to their families. They are all very friendly.

During a very difficult time, staff have adhered to all government recommendations to keep residents safe. I understand why activities are restricted and hope for more stimulation to help to keep my father mentally active, as things improve. Physically, his mobility is poor but he seems to get any help he needs.

My 93-year-old grandmother was made homeless due to circumstances out of her control. I was advised to call the home to search for an available space. She was moved within 24 hours. My nan is always treated with dignity and respect by all the staff and I'm constantly kept in the loop. The staff make you feel so welcome. I can't fault Victoria Court at all. Both my grandmothers are there and it's clear to see that both are happy, looked after, feel safe and all their needs are met. Thank you.

Our 95-year-old aunt has been a resident at Victoria Court for over 18 months. We have had previous experience of care homes in the area and we have been very impressed by the care and communication by the staff during this very difficult time, FaceTime calls were facilitated very quickly after lockdown and our aunt has seemed very settled and comfortable right from the start. We've been extremely impressed overall. Well done!

My aunt has been in Victoria Court, Ilkeston, for four years and is very happy and well looked after. The staff are very friendly and caring and all seem to be local. It was particularly nice to know that she was being cared for and had plenty of company and contact with others during the Covid restrictions.

My Mother has been at Victoria Court for over a year now. Although it has been a very challenging time due to Covid, my Mum has always been treated fairly with care and dignity.

The staff are very friendly and do their utmost to provide and cater to all my Mum's needs. Visits are conducted with care and attention to detail, all PPE for visitors is provided and safety guidance is provided and adhered to. Communication between myself and the staff is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. Overall, my Mum is receiving good care and is happy.

From what I saw I was more than happy to have my father stay at this home but once my father had passed I was very disappointed with the way his clothes and personal items were handed to me. Also, the cleanliness of his clothes plus some of his personal items were broken and covered in mould.

The genuine caring nature of the staff is excellent. The staff team complement each other well and the various services work together to make Victoria Court a friendly and safe environment to live. The link with the nurse practitioner is a strength and the administrator is very thorough and empathetic when dealing with both residents and family.

My Dad had a happy stay in Victoria Court, the food was good and provided whenever he needed it. Until illness overtook him he was able to get out and about within the local area to the shops, park and cricket ground. It is a pleasant area to explore which added to his happiness staying there.

My mother was a resident at Victoria Court for 8 years. She was always happy here and considered it to be her home. The carers have always considered mums feelings, they also encourage her to engage in activities she enjoyed. The end of life care and support for mum and I was above and beyond. I have no hesitation in recommending Victoria Court.

A table was requested in my room for drinks, breakfast etc. and never appeared during my stay. Slight pressure to go to bed early. Food and drinks good but not always hot. Privacy was good in communal areas for when family visited.

I went into the care home for 3 weeks care and found it very good. The meals were very good and plenty of it. The place was very clean and tidy. The staff were both very clean and pleasant, also helpful in every way. They did their best to help us pass the time on with singing and entertainment, walks round the park in wheelchairs. I went in to give my daughter a chance for a holiday, she is my carer and is excellent. I will certainly go in again. I have been back and had dinner with them and have been invited again. My room was quite large and excellent, clean.

Dad was cared for 2 and a half years by staff at Victoria Court. He was happy and settled and well cared for by all the staff. Dad had vascular dementia and sometimes he could be very trying but the care staff always had lots of patience with him and coped well with his situation.
