My cousin has only been a resident here for a few weeks but he has settled in well and the staff have been very accommodating and helpful. We had a few teething problems but that was while the staff were getting to know him and while he was getting used to them. All of my requests have been dealt with
and resolved. The home is clean and the staff are friendly. Due to its size and the number of residents, it feels more homely and personal.

My mother has been resident in Westroyd Care Home for almost a year. She is extremely happy with the care she receives and speaks highly of all who look after her. I am impressed by the staff who always seem to give their best and appear to enjoy their work.

My mother enjoys her food at Westroyd

and it is always plentiful and nicely served.

The maintenance man has done a good job ensuring that mum's room is safe and has put up hooks where she's wanted for her treasured pictures. Mum is happy to regard Westroyd Care Home as her home now and has no regrets about giving up her much-loved bungalow.

In all good companies, there are occasional problems. I know at Westroyd the management do their best deal with issues rather than covering them up.

I am pleased to know that my mother is safe, happy and well cared for by a very decent group of people. Well done and thank you to all at Westroyd Care Home.

Mum has been here nearly a year now and has settled in really well, thanks to the care and patience of the staff. Mum can be challenging due to her Alzheimers but on the whole, I feel she is quite content. The home has a friendly, homely atmosphere at all times.

Our mother has been a resident of Westroyd Lodge care home for almost a year. The staff and mum have developed a relationship on trust and understanding which allows the carers to deliver the best and appropriate care possible. The bedroom, lounge, dining rooms are pleasant being warm, clean and cosy.
However, two criticisms are that the toilets are often very unpleasant found soiled and odorous! Secondly, the laundry service is quite poor, clothes are returned ruined, misshapen, creased and sometimes missing! Meals are a really very good standard, well balanced, varied and plenty. The staff are friendly, warm and very caring which is the most important quality required when delivering care to our vulnerable and elderly people.

Mum was recently admitted to hospital with suspected "end of life". One of the seniors visited her in hospital on her day off. One of the catering staff sat holding her hand whilst she was in bed awaiting paramedics even though her shift had finished 30 minutes earlier. These are just 2 examples of
the love and care that all of the staff show towards the residents. It is really an extended family.

Decor and interior is so refreshing although we did like the green it brought the outside inside.
Decor, as one goes into the rooms, is inviting always clean and fresh.
All the staff are fantastic and very caring. There is always a carer with the patients talking to them doing exercises singing etc.
There is now way any of my family can fault the care and attention my husband has received since staying at Westroyd House Care Home for the past few months.

Mum has been a resident at Westroyd Lodge for almost 4 years. The atmosphere is caring and all the staff do their best to ensure the residents are looked after in a caring way and according to their individual needs.
During this time the lounge and dining room have been upgraded and residents involved
in choices as they have been able to make use of a grant. It has been disappointing, however, to see some changes to the dining room decor over the last month or so which was unnecessary.
The decor in some residents rooms could do with attention though. All staff work very hard. The activities organiser is exceptional and a great asset to the home.

My mother-in-law has been at Westroyd for just over two years. She has mixed dementia. I have been delighted with the care provided - she now eats well, is clean and overall maintains good health. I'm aware that the care at Westroyd Lodge is even more highly thought of and certainly from what I've seen,
the staff are even more pro-active in their care.
My mother-in-law feels safe, and I'm always impressed with the staff's cheerfulness and professionalism. They also treat us with kindness and understanding.

Visiting my friend I was delighted with the care and attention that she was being provided with. The staff are friendly and nothing was too much if a problem for them. The decoration is clean and fresh with noticeable attention to detail.
I would recommend this care home, the care is second to none.

I was impressed by how knowledgeable and compassionate the home visit and when discussing my father's situation later. She took great care to adapt the care provision to his band 5 multiple needs and communicated honestly at all times with the family. We were particularly pleased that the staff put
themselves out to take my father out for walks. He loved the music activity and Kind (manager) spent a lot of time with me.

My dad has been at Westroyd since December 2015. I am very pleased with his care, especially since the new manager took over. We have had a few issues but when I approached her she responded immediately. He loves all the staff who work there. The carers are great. The handyman is great too! I would
hesitate to recommend to anyone, believe me we looked at some really bad ones.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.776) out of 10 for Westroyd House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.776 for Westroyd House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (281 Excellents x 5) + (52 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 344 Ratings = 4.776
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westroyd House Care Home is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
