My mum has been here for 2 years now and if she had not come here I'm sure she would be dead by now. The staff are amazing and really care about the residents. They always put a smile on mum's face, she can be awkward and stubborn and needs prompting to do things. But nothing is too much trouble and everybody is treated with dignity and respect. Food is amazing. Thank you to all the staff. A++++

My husband went for respite care for five weeks while I went to visit my family in New Zealand. During this time he had a fall and had to go to hospital. Since his return, he has been disabled with Parkinson's disease and has now become a permanent resident. I cannot praise the staff at Willows Care Home enough for the care he has received. They are always cheerful and helpful. I am always welcomed when I go to visit. My husband is well cared for in every respect.

Very good food, lots of variety.
Lots of activities to choose from.

I feel safer in here than in my own home. My daughter visits every day and my son visits every weekend.

My mum was lucky enough to have an en-suite room. Many didn't and some of the rooms were small and cell like. The overall physical condition of the home was average. The food was very good. There was often inefficient staff with too high a turnover. The staff who stayed were excellent and made up for short comings in number and the physical environment. They are your greatest asset and you should pay them a lot more.

Reply from HC-One, Careline Team at The Willows Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to review The Willows and your comments regarding the excellent staff and food. The home is not purpose built and we are continually striving to enhance the existing living facilities for our residents, starting with a refresh programme due to commence this November....

The staff were very friendly and helpful.
They treated my mum with respect and seemed to genuinely care for her.

My only wish is that I'd been called sooner and maybe I'd been able to be with my mum when she died, as it was it came as a shock to be told she'd passed away.

Reply from HC-One, Careline Team at The Willows Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to provide the home with feedback of your experiences and we also offer our condolences. We apologise if we didn’t meet your expectation with calling you sooner, however, palliative care can be unpredictable and circumstances can change very quickly. We take your...

On every visit at least once a month for me and same for my sister, the staff have always been fantastic, helpful, friendly and always make time to discuss mum. This is all staff from the care home, whether chef, entertainment, office, carer, cleaner and the list goes on. Thank you to all for looking after our mum in such a good way.

Always found the staff helpful and caring looking after my husband who has been at The Willows over a year. They do everything for him as he is unable to look after himself. This care home is very homely and I, as a visitor, am always welcome.

I would like to commend this care home. My mother has been living there since June 2015. I cannot stress too strongly how well she is cared for. She has engaged in many of the activities and all of the staff are caring and considerate. It is such a relief to know that she is being so well cared for. She is happy. I am happy and the food is good too.

I visit my friend every week in the home. She is well cared for and finds the staff friendly and caring. The staff make every effort to organise events and entertainment in the lounge although my friend prefers to keep to her room as she is quite a private person, she is aware that she can join in whenever she wishes. She enjoys the meals provided and really appreciates being in her room when she is feeling our of sorts. She also feels safe and secure something very important to her.

My aunt was a resident at The Willows for four years, during which she was for the most part very content. The staff looked after her well and were concerned for her needs, but also her wants and wishes. On my visits to my aunt, I found the staff friendly, courteous and efficient and there would generally be someone popping in to check on my aunt and perhaps have a quick chat with her. My aunt sadly died at The Willows but I believe this was absolutely the best situation for her and I would like to thank the staff for their kindness throughout.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?

“Kindness for me means putting our residents at the centre of everything we do and providing care and support at all times.”

As someone who has worked in the health and social care sector for over a decade, rising from carer to senior carer then deputy manager and then home manager, Olayide has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for residents.

Olayide closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Olayide remarked:

“First and foremost, I enjoy meeting residents and relatives and understanding their needs and requirements. I operate an open-door policy to discuss any questions or concerns residents and their loved ones may have and encourage relatives to visit the home to develop good relationships, which further support those we care for.

From a management perspective, I am committed to creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere, where everyone works as a team. I have installed an effective quality assurance and monitoring system to supervise all staff to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of residents and staff is promoted and protected.”
