Our mother had a short stay at Spencefield Grange (respite care). As a family, we would sincerely like to thank Ruby and all her team who took such good care of our mother.

Whilst mother only had a short stay, staff were attentive and responded to our mothers needs.

Our mothers room was kept clean and all staff encouraged our mother to eat at meal times and dressed and washed mother.

My family wishes to thank all staff members at Spencefield Grange Care Home.

My friend was admitted into Spencefield Grange suffering from dementia and self-neglect. She was very underweight (6 stone!). She's been lovingly cared for by the staff now her weight is 7st 3lb. She's entertained every morning in some activity which stimulates her. The food is also really good. The level of cleanliness is beyond reproach. However, the staff are wonderful they simply can't do enough for here it's wonderful to see.

Mum was a resident for 3 years before her passing. Her room was always spotless, there is plenty of activities for the residents and everyone knew each other. Staff always cheerful , food looked excellent, plenty of tea breaks residents. I was always told of any health issues immediately and the peace of mind knowing my Mum was being cared for so well was priceless.

My mother received the most excellent care and attention during her residency. The staff were caring, patient, attentive and treated her with the utmost dignity. My late husband was a resident of Spencefield Grange for 13 months. I was enormously impressed by the kindness and compassion he was shown, even though his behaviour was at times challenging. He was always treated respectfully and with dignity. He had been in a different care home for assessment for three months, where he was neglected and spoken to rudely - as was I. By contrast, the staff at Spencefield were always welcoming and friendly, creating a positive, warm atmosphere.

I am very impressed with the care home they took really good care of my grandad. They are very polite and caring. They show the residents a lot of respect and are very patient with them. They have a good variety of food and drinks. The rooms are very clean for the residents. The staff are always willing to help no matter how busy they are. Very welcoming feeling when you arrive. I would definitely recommend this care home.

Avoid at all costs! This home is simply terrible. The lack of care to my stepmother was a constant joke. Due to covid, it took me 15 months before I could move her. Dirty clothes, lost clothing, she wasn't showered, very often constantly smelly, clothing damaged. She was not even allowed a towel in their toilets. When she contracted covid the home didn't even bother to inform any family member. Honestly, the list goes on and on. I truly wouldn't leave anyone here.

The customer service and caring for my father were very good. The freedom for him to move around is what was needed for his time spent there. The management and staff were extremely helpful, and phone access to know his condition has been excellent. I am glad my father was happy with his time spent there. Continue the good work.

Mum never wanted to go into a home - like so many, but now she wishes she had gone in earlier. The carers she loves and holds very close. She thinks herself so very lucky to be in such a home that really respects and values their clients. I know my mum can be "trifle challenging" at times, but the team seem to "know" their clients and treat them accordingly. I recently travelled from New Zealand to visit my mum and was absolutely astounded by the warmth and care I both saw and received. The activities that are put on are amazing. Well done, team - until next year.

Michelle CaisleyJob Title:Operations ManagerJoined: 2021

I started my career in care as a Health Care Assistant and have progressed and worked my way up through the Health and Social Care Industry, working across many services such as mental health, learning disability, children's services and dementia nursing reaching the position of Area Manager.

In 2021 I joined Kirklands Care as their Operations Manager overseeing all of their care homes. Kirklands Care is a family run business that shared my own beliefs of care and that the residents care is of upmost priority and this for me comes first. My love of spending time with the residents shines through my work, hearing their stories and having the ability to make a difference in their lives. Every resident I care for is treated how I would expect my family member to be cared for which for me is with love dignity and respect. My role allows me to work with families to take the pressure off whilst allowing them to feel their loved one is in a suitable environment, is safe and cared for.

Megan Nairn
Megan NairnJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2024

I began my journey in care in 2020 at the age of 19, shortly after completing my A-levels and realising that this was the path I wanted to pursue. I started as a Care Assistant and worked my way up to Senior Care Assistant, before progressing into my current role as Deputy Manager. Along the way, I’ve also supported in key roles such as Catering Manager and within Housekeeping, all within the care home setting.

I hold an NVQ Level 3 in Lead Adult Care Work and continue to build on my knowledge and experience every day.

My passion for care began in childhood. Growing up around the care sector often accompanying my mum to work. Some of my fondest memories come from being in that environment. From a young age, I learned about dementia and the importance of providing care with dignity, compassion and purpose.

For me, care has never been just a job. It’s a lifelong commitment. I’m dedicated to supporting individuals to live with comfort, respect, and a strong sense of self because everyone deserves to feel valued, heard, and truly cared for.
