A very caring home where the staff are very friendly. They treat dad as a person and not just a number.
The home has a very welcoming atmosphere where a cup of tea of even a meal is on offer to you when coming through the doors.
All the staff know dad and his needs and more importantly dad know them.
The home is a place where the family knows he is safe, happy and well looked after.

The home is light, airy and very clean. The staff and carers are all they need to be, always there for the people take care of. My partner entered the home, her new home as she calls it. She is happier than I've known her to be in the last two years. To me, that says it all.
I miss her but her looking
happy is all that matters to me. I've looked after my partner for the last six years until her mood just got so bad. Since she has been here I have my loved one back.

I have always found the staff to be helpful and friendly. They keep mum comfortable as she is in bed all the time because of this she and her condition she is unable to join in the activities but I have seen the other staff in action and they provide many activities for the residents which mum used
to enjoy before she deteriorated.

The staff here are very caring and treat each resident as an individual and cater for their specific needs. The food is excellent and also the refreshments supplied throughout the day are well presented and served with a smile. I feel assured that residents are cared for in an appropriate manner and
I have peace of mind which is everything when a loved one is entrusted to the care and responsibility of a home.

My auntie is a frail 99-year-old who is of sound mind. She spent part of December in Leicester Royal infirmary before returning to Spencefield Grange.
Since returning she has settled well and is surrounded by staff who love and care for her so well. She is a lady who has been used to being independent
and therefore potentially difficult to please, I'm delighted to say that she really enjoys life at Spencefield Grange. There are always things going on which she can join in with.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.479)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.479) out of 10 for Spencefield Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.771 for Spencefield Grange is calculated as follows: ( (39 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.771
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.708 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Spencefield Grange is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.333
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2021

I started my career in care as a Health Care Assistant and have progressed and worked my way up through the Health and Social Care Industry, working across many services such as mental health, learning disability, children's services and dementia nursing reaching the position of Area Manager.

In 2021 I joined Kirklands Care as their Operations Manager overseeing all of their care homes. Kirklands Care is a family run business that shared my own beliefs of care and that the residents care is of upmost priority and this for me comes first. My love of spending time with the residents shines through my work, hearing their stories and having the ability to make a difference in their lives. Every resident I care for is treated how I would expect my family member to be cared for which for me is with love dignity and respect. My role allows me to work with families to take the pressure off whilst allowing them to feel their loved one is in a suitable environment, is safe and cared for.

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2024

I began my journey in care in 2020 at the age of 19, shortly after completing my A-levels and realising that this was the path I wanted to pursue. I started as a Care Assistant and worked my way up to Senior Care Assistant, before progressing into my current role as Deputy Manager. Along the way, I’ve also supported in key roles such as Catering Manager and within Housekeeping, all within the care home setting.

I hold an NVQ Level 3 in Lead Adult Care Work and continue to build on my knowledge and experience every day.

My passion for care began in childhood. Growing up around the care sector often accompanying my mum to work. Some of my fondest memories come from being in that environment. From a young age, I learned about dementia and the importance of providing care with dignity, compassion and purpose.

For me, care has never been just a job. It’s a lifelong commitment. I’m dedicated to supporting individuals to live with comfort, respect, and a strong sense of self because everyone deserves to feel valued, heard, and truly cared for.
