Words cannot explain the love and support I have had from all the staff and most of all the friendships I have gained while being here.
I have learned so much being patient and tolerant. I will be taking so much with me as I leave and say goodbye.

A caring and functional care home. Great carers and management. Individual rooms could do with refurbishment but more importantly, the environment and staff look after residents well.

Our mum was in Spencefield Grange for 2 and a half years before she sadly passed away in September. She was so well cared for right until her last hours. All the staff were so caring, not just for our mum but myself and my sister too. I would recommend Spencefield Grange to everyone as it was to us
by a friend, who's mother was also in there until her passing. We couldn't thank them all enough.

I thought Spencefield Grange is a lovely, clean and pleasant place to stay. Staff were lovely and helpful for people with advanced dementia. I think it's excellent, but for Mum, who isn't advanced, it was a bit unsettling and scary at times for her.

My mother's decline had been becoming a worry as her basic functions at home had grown worse. Dementia had robbed her of her independence and it was vital we found a care home with facilities and staff to meet her needs. Spencefield Grange has the ability to take away any anxiety we had of her needs
being met. Professional staff ensure she is stimulated and her anxieties observed and reassurances given. The staff are excellent.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.479)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.479) out of 10 for Spencefield Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.771 for Spencefield Grange is calculated as follows: ( (39 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.771
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.708 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Spencefield Grange is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.333
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2021

I started my career in care as a Health Care Assistant and have progressed and worked my way up through the Health and Social Care Industry, working across many services such as mental health, learning disability, children's services and dementia nursing reaching the position of Area Manager.

In 2021 I joined Kirklands Care as their Operations Manager overseeing all of their care homes. Kirklands Care is a family run business that shared my own beliefs of care and that the residents care is of upmost priority and this for me comes first. My love of spending time with the residents shines through my work, hearing their stories and having the ability to make a difference in their lives. Every resident I care for is treated how I would expect my family member to be cared for which for me is with love dignity and respect. My role allows me to work with families to take the pressure off whilst allowing them to feel their loved one is in a suitable environment, is safe and cared for.

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2024

I began my journey in care in 2020 at the age of 19, shortly after completing my A-levels and realising that this was the path I wanted to pursue. I started as a Care Assistant and worked my way up to Senior Care Assistant, before progressing into my current role as Deputy Manager. Along the way, I’ve also supported in key roles such as Catering Manager and within Housekeeping, all within the care home setting.

I hold an NVQ Level 3 in Lead Adult Care Work and continue to build on my knowledge and experience every day.

My passion for care began in childhood. Growing up around the care sector often accompanying my mum to work. Some of my fondest memories come from being in that environment. From a young age, I learned about dementia and the importance of providing care with dignity, compassion and purpose.

For me, care has never been just a job. It’s a lifelong commitment. I’m dedicated to supporting individuals to live with comfort, respect, and a strong sense of self because everyone deserves to feel valued, heard, and truly cared for.

I’ve worked in care since 2009, starting my journey as a Care Assistant before progressing through the roles of Senior, Deputy, and then Manager. I took on my first management role in 2013 and have since dedicated myself to leading with compassion and integrity.

My background includes a wide range of experience across elderly dementia care, residential care, nursing, and learning disabilities. This has given me a strong foundation and a deep understanding of what it means to deliver truly person-centered care.

I hold NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Health and Social Care, as well as NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care. These qualifications support the values I bring to my role everyday dedication, professionalism and heart.

At the core of everything I do is the belief that every individual deserves the very best care and quality of life. I focus on the unique needs of each person and work hard to ensure they feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for.

I work tirelessly to ensure our home is filled with laughter, warmth and comfort for our residents, our staff and their families. Creating a positive culture and a happy working environment is something I truly believe in. I’m passionate about promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, and I’m committed to making sure everyone feels respected, supported, and part of our extended care family.
