Your fees cover several areas while in their care.
These services are: Personal care, accommodation,
utilities, use of communal areas, meals, drinks and
snacks, laundry (excluding dry cleaning),
housekeeping, maintenance and activities run by the
home.


Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

My friend lived at Hartsholme House for 18 months and was very happy. All the staff are delightful and I couldn't have wished for better care for my friend. Her decline in health was sad to see, and a challenge for all of the staff but they persevered and lavished her with love, care, and the attentive
attention that my friend received was second to none.

My husband stayed for respite at Hartsholme House for two weeks. He seemed content there, and I was pleased knowing that he was very well looked after.
Staff were very caring, and it was a happy place.
Rooms and cleanliness were excellent. We were always made to feel very welcome when visiting.
I would certainly recommend Hartsholme House to anyone.

My Mother-in-law settled in very quickly and her dementia needs seemed to be catered for very well. Even before the start date commenced, conversations with staff gave me the confidence and reassurance that Hartsholme House was going to be the right place. Whenever I have visited, the staff are friendly
and willingly help and answer any questions. Staff always appear to be attentive to residents and their needs. There is a very nice atmosphere there and it is a place I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The staff are excellent, I cannot fault anything wrong with this home. The staff go out of their way to get things sorted. My father-in-law has recently had his room decorated. The housekeeping team are 100%. In fact, all the staff are excellent, 100% good teamwork which is very important to care. The

Chatty - open doors with a smile. Care/dignity and empathy from the carers is superb, a homely place!
Housekeepers/laundry people absolutely amazing, the home is spotless.
Smells amazing, a real clean scent. Mum's clothes are washed/ironed perfectly. Ten out of ten to the housekeepers/laundry.

My mother came here for 3 weeks respite care from start to finish the service was excellent from the office staff to front line carers. We found the atmosphere in the house friendly, caring and welcoming we wouldn't hesitate to use Hartsholme House again for respite and would recommend it to other people.

My father passed away on 29/3/19.
During his time at the home, (14 months) he was really looked after - first class on home, room, food and most importantly, staff.
He loved it here and it is a true shame he couldn't have had a few more years at Hartsholme House.

My mother lived in Hartsholme House until her death on 5th March 2019. She had been there since 2004. She died this month aged 98. Her care has been excellent and she was very happy.

After vascular dementia meant she couldn't be cared for at home, my mother had respite care and then became a resident. We visit at any time, unannounced, and have found her being comforted by staff, or playing games in fits of laughter, helping staff or even out with staff on an outing. In the summer
heat, staff constantly checked those outside wore hats, had sunscreen on and drank water. Our mother was shy but has been gently coaxed into friendships. We can no longer care for our mother but are relieved that she is being cared for by the excellent, caring staff at Hartsholme House.

Since my husband's mum has been at Hortsholme her health and general well being has improved dramatically. Her meals are regular and nothing is too much trouble. She is included on outings and games at the home. Music has become something she enjoys but sadly struggles to remember. The staff treat everyone
with love. Nothing ever seems too much trouble for the people staying or their families. They also provide support for families coming to terms with the health issues their loved ones face.

My father settled in well.
The staff were kind and very patient.
The chef tried to tempt my father with different foods beyond his normal duties.

I am familiar with residential homes in Sussex, many of which are pretty awful.
My brother has been in Hartsholme for 4 years.
I have found it a most friendly establishment with very caring staff be they carers, kitchen staff, cleaners, office or management.
I am always warmly welcomed as is my sister
in law.
I feel my brother is well cared for.

My friend was a resident for 6 and a half years and died there in February of this year. She has Vascular Dementia and I was very impressed with the staff management of this progressive condition. She was given a lot of individual attention and support and seemed content with her life there. The atmosphere
there is warm and lively and visitors always welcome.

My husband attends the day centre. I was invited to a friendship lunch at Hartsholme House, I was so very impressed with every single member of staff who were present at the function.
I observed each and every one of them, regardless of rank, interacting with the residents in such a caring and compassionate
way. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them, it was so lovely to witness.
I cannot speak too highly of them.
I would and do, recommend this home to all and sundry.

Cheryl

Cheryl Gilderdale

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2012

The forty three residents at Hartsholme House are looked after by a highly dedicated team of staff that include carers, administrators and ancillary staff. They are led by the Manager who is supported by a Head of Care and a team of Senior Carers.


Cheryl Gilderdale has been the manager of Hartsholme House since April 2012. Cheryl has been with the Trust for over 17 years’ and has great knowledge and experience in caring for the elderly in residential and dementia care settings.


Cheryl has always enjoyed caring for the elderly and in she joined Hartsholme House in 2010 as Head of Care before taking over as Manager


As well as NVQ level 4 in Health and Social Care. She has completed numerous short courses covering all aspects of caring for the elderly these ensure that all residents, residential, and dementia receive the best care from staff. Cheryl has also completed the Alzheimer’s Society leadership training programme, Champions in Dementia, which ensures the appropriate care is maintained for residents with Dementia


Cheryl sets high standards of conduct and performance for herself and her staff. As a result she is proud that the last inspection of the home by- the Commission for Social Care Inspection, has successfully rated them as meeting, or exceeding, the standards of care expected.

Conny

Conny McGowan

Job Title: Head of Care Joined: 2007

Conny, our Head of Care at Hartsholme House, initially joined the Trust in 2007 as a Carer at Hartsholme House and soon after was appointed as Care Leader, having already completed her NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. Whilst working at The Poplars, Conny was offered the role of Head of Care and spent four years there before re-joining the team at Hartsholme House in 2012, continuing in the position as Head of Care. Conny achieved her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care in 2015 and the continued her education with the Open University and was very proud to be granted a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.

Conny is passionate about dementia care and works closely with her team members. She values ideas and suggestions to improve, not only ways of working, but also to promote the quality of life for each individual resident at Hartsholme House and is involved with innovative projects which will benefit the residents. Conny is proud to be part of a team that achieved an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating in their last inspection, and she works hard to maintain a high standard in person-centred care.

Conny, in her spare time, enjoys reading, playing badminton and spending time with her family.

Paula

Paula Robinson

Job Title: Head Housekeeper Joined: 2006

Paula Robinson is the Head Housekeeper at Hartsholme House and has been with the Trust since 2006.


Paula started as a relief Housekeeper and Laundress and progressed to Head Housekeeper in 2013, achieving her NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality, Supervision and Leadership.


Paula and her team work hard daily to ensure that the home is cleaned to a high standard and enjoys positive feedback from the families regarding the cleanliness of the home.


When Paula is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, eating out, DIY and gardening.

Tracy

Tracy Pattle

Job Title: Administration Assistant

Tracy is the Administration Assistant at Hartsholme House. She has worked in the Health and Social Care sector since 2004 after working in London as a Portfolio Administrator for many years. Tracy obtained her NVQ level 3 in Business Administration in 2009 and enjoys the varied days that the Health and Social Care sector brings.


After becoming the primary carer for various family members, she understands the challenges that are faced by families when choosing the correct person-centred care provision. She hopes that she, and her family's experience, can help others find the right care provider.


In her free time, Tracy enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and watching movies.
