Mum appears very happy and settled at Ashley Court. Staff are hard working, attentive and very caring. Covid restrictions have been difficult but the staff have ensured the residents are safe and well looked after, providing much reassurance for us as a family.

Ashley Court took care of my father for several months before he passed. They were very empathetic regarding the covid situation and allowed us to see him in his final days. Making sure everything was safe for all.

Ashley Court staff have kept us well informed of what activities and accompanied this with photos on their social media page. They have also informed us how they are managing the Covid-19 situation, especially since we have been unable to visit. The group messaging facility, telephone calls have enabled
us to keep in touch. Well done to all the staff and thank you for making a difficult time a little easier.

Since my friend has been in Ashley Court - he is a changed man. He has been on his own for around 4 years and not really joined in socially with anything at all. I know he has been joining in with many of the activities offered; singing, crafts, music etc. He appears settled and loves the meals provided.
He looks like he has put on a bit of weight and he is always well dressed and clean. I can't thank the staff enough for all that they do for all the residents and visitors etc.

My sister has recently moved to Ashley Court to be nearer to me. Her previous home was very large and the contrast to here is amazing.
She and I have been made to feel so welcome, her room is more spacious and is kept very clean and tidy. I know she will be Ok here.

My uncle has been a resident here for nearly three years. The staff have been very caring and helpful with my uncle who has had several health issues. They encouraged him to keep up his interest in gardening and he maintained the garden during his time there. Unfortunately, my uncle passed away and
they have been very helpful and supportive.

My mother suffers from Alzheimers and the month she spent in hospital prior to going into Ashley Court, she had deteriorated considerably. However, since being at Ashley Court, which is only 3 weeks, she has improved so much. The staff are unfailingly kind and there is a cheerful atmosphere. There are
plenty of activities should residents wish to take advantage of these.
Overall I am very happy with the manager and the team at Ashley Court.

Not happy. Mum had to be locked in her room to stop residents from going in and going through her belongings. Medication and creams not being administered when prescribed. Personal hygiene not happy with. Not updated with information concerning wellbeing. Room too hot and stuffy. No handrail in the
toilet, even after requesting for one to be put in. Mum had a fall and no one knew about it. Why did it happen when sensor mat was in place? My theory is it wasn't plugged in!

My sister has been at Ashley Court for three weeks now, having been transferred here from hospital.
She has settled well and seems very comfortable.
The staff are all caring and very kind and work well together under the manager.
It's a great relief to know that my sister is under the best of care.
The manager's door is always open for residents and visitors. Well done!

The staff and residents of Ashley Court have been so kind and welcoming to my mother. I have been impressed by the individual care that is being given to my mother. My wife was very happy once she had settled. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Her room was clean and pleasant and her bed looked very comfortable. When we visited my wife always seemed happy and the staff were always pleased to assist if we had a problem (once she mislaid her teeth). The only
problem that we had was that she lost her glasses.

Although this home was not the most "upmarket" with regards to its decor recent improvements have been made and this is more than made up by the care given by the amazing team who go over and above on a daily basis even though they are stretched to their limits.
I'm happy that my mum was cared for
here and I always felt supported too. Thank you Ashley Court.

The Ashley Court residential care home continues to provide excellent care for my mother. I feel 100% confident that all of her needs are taken care of, physically and socially. I am always relaxed to know that she is being looked after 24 hours per day.

Joined: 2014

I began my journey at Ashley Court in 2014 as Deputy Manager, and in 2016, I was honoured to become the Registered Manager. But my path in care started much earlier—when I was just 17 years old. From the very beginning, I knew that caring for others wasn’t just a job for me; it was a calling.


Over the years, I’ve grown both personally and professionally. I’ve gained my NVQ Level 2, 3, and 5 in Health and Social Care, but more importantly, I’ve gained years of experience, countless memories, and a deep understanding of what it truly means to be there for someone—especially when they need it most.


Being a manager is not without its challenges, but it’s also one of the most rewarding parts of my life. I’m so proud to lead a team of kind, dedicated individuals who give their all every day. And what means the most to me is that, despite my responsibilities, I still get to be close to our residents—listening to their stories, sharing in their laughter, offering comfort in difficult times.


There’s something truly special about being able to make someone feel safe, heard, and cared for. That’s what fills my heart and keeps me going. I feel incredibly lucky to do what I love, surrounded by people who inspire me every single day.

I began my journey at Ashley Court in 2014 as a care assistant. With my previous experience, I quickly embraced the role of senior care assistant, working closely with residents to ensure they received the compassionate, personalized care they deserved. To further develop my skills, I earned my NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care


In 2018, I was promoted to deputy manager, a role that allowed me to combine hands-on care with broader leadership responsibilities. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of balancing administrative tasks with the genuine, everyday interactions that define our residents. It was a period of significant growth, both for myself and for the team I was proud to support.


Recently, I made the decision to step down from my deputy manager position to become the Head of Care. This change wasn’t about stepping away from leadership; rather, it was about reconnecting with what truly brings me joy—being directly involved in care. I wanted more time to focus on helping our residents enjoy a high quality of life, with compassion and respect as the cornerstones of every interaction.


I am incredibly proud to be part of Ashley Court, where each day offers the opportunity to touch lives, share smiles, and build a nurturing environment for our residents. It is an honour to work in a place that feels like home for so many, and I am excited to continue making a positive impact with every step I take.

Vidhushi Liyanage

Job Title: Head chef

Joined: 2021

I was born and raised in Sri Lanka, where I worked as a professional actress & voice artist. Performing was my passion and identity. But when I moved to the UK, everything changed.


Looking for part-time work, I applied for a Kitchen Assistant role at Ashley Court in 2021. One day, when the chef called in sick, I was asked to step in. Watching the residents enjoy the meal I’d prepared sparked something in me — the same joy I once felt on stage. I realised food, like art, can touch hearts.


That day, I found a new stage — the kitchen.


I spoke with my manager, Jacqui, and asked if she would consider me for the role of Second Chef. With her support, I stepped into the role just six months after joining, and I threw myself into learning. I earned my Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering, as well as my Level 2 HACCP for Catering qualification.


In 2022, I became the Chef at Ashley Court and Head Chef in 2024. Cooking is my passion, and I put love, care, and intention into every meal I prepare to bring comfort to our residents. Watching them enjoy the food I create gives me a sense of peace and purpose that words cannot fully express.


Ashley Court isn’t just where I work — it’s where I found myself again. This is more than a job to me. It’s where my heart belongs, and I would happily do it for the rest of my life.

Tina Smith

Job Title: Activity Co-ordinator

Joined: 2018

I was inspired to become an activity coordinator while working as a chef in another care home. I never expected to be given this opportunity, as being a chef was all I knew. A friend recommended me to the manager, and I've never looked back since. I started at Ashley Court in November 2018 and began my NAPA activity training in February 2019.


This job is incredibly rewarding on an emotional level. I have the privilege of providing activities and entertainment that residents might be missing out on. It’s amazing to see them happy, smiling, laughing, and having fun. I also find it fulfilling to help new residents settle into their new home, offering support as they cope with fear and anxiety while making new friends.


Now that I have been in this role for so long, I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
