The transition into residential care can be emotional and complex. The staff at Ashley Court welcomed my father and have supported us in some complex issues. My father has settled well and is being well cared for - which is reassuring for me knowing he is safe and content. All the staff are friendly
and their caring attitude comes across. The environment although basic is clean and comfortable.

When my friend was well enough go out we used to take him to the bank every month and then go out for a coffee.
His wife is also handicapped and does not write or read very well so I also support her in her home she easily panics so whenever there is any kind of situation the staff at the home ring
me and I personally go round to her and explain what is happening. The also ring me and I take him to his medical appointments or meet him at A.E when necessary.
All the staff at Ashley Court are very friendly and polite.
They put on a number of activities for both residents and families to enjoy.

My brother has been here 8 months after her previous home was closed by CQC. We are amazed at the contrast in well-managed home. My brother was a gardener in a museum in Cardiff for 30+ years and here he has taken over the garden. It gives him much pleasure managing it and has improved it. He was given
a fork and trowel as a reward for his work which delighted him. My brother has mild Asperger's Syndrome and does not mix well, but he has settled in well and chats with the staff. I am very happy to see him so well in this home. I cannot speak too highly of the staff.

My mother has been at Ashley Court for almost 2 1/2 years. In that time, although her dementia has slightly deteriorated, her attitude has improved considerably. This is totally due to the care and attention she receives on a daily basis. She herself says she is contented, there is plenty going on and
the staff are lovely. I couldn't agree more. The stimulus provided by the entertainment member of staff is excellent. After visiting my mother regularly I always leave knowing that she is in the very best of care.

A short term stay whilst care package in place for home discharge.
First impression: greeted by friendly and helpful staff. They made mum feel at home and brought out her fun character which she enjoyed. She had been struggling with appetite in hospital but really enjoyed the food - which I'm sure
she will miss!
Everyone was really good to her during her stay. Didn't get to use the lounge or dining room as she was on oxygen in her room and wasn't there long enough to obtain a portable tank. The room was large with all she needed but could do with a bit of TLC - furniture bit shabby. Although - it's the care that's important and we were very happy with this.

My aunt was a resident of Ashley Court from August 2016 until her death in February 2017. She told me she liked the home and was very happy with the entertainment and the food had a lovely flavour.
As I live in Canada, I mostly talked to her by phone. Other than the pain she was in, she was happy.
When she was in her last days, the manager at the home took all my phone calls and kept me informed on her condition.

I am writing this review with regard to my friend who resided at Ashley Court from August 2016 until February 2017 when she sadly passed away. The staff couldn't have made her feel more at home when she moved there from Finedon. I know my friend was very worried but they made her feel at ease and very
welcome. The staff were very kind and helpful to her and as her friend, I am very grateful to them for their care and support.

Cameras or more staff available for the residents in the day room would be a good idea. My grandma is very happy and settled in Ashley Court, she is always smiling and the staff seem to really care. A bigger room for hairdressing would be helpful.

I find the staff very helpful and caring. They are very supportive and have got to know my Mum so well. The home is being decorated at the moment, but they could do with another lift! The open door policy is excellent and I have always been able to ask questions and talk to someone when needed. Above
all, the staff care and are kind!!! I think the rooms would be better with their own wet rooms, but I am looking forward to seeing the new upgraded home.

I am delighted with the care my father receives at Ashley Court. All the staff are wonderful and treat him with good humour and respect no matter what mood he's in. The home is kept spotlessly clean and the meals are amazing. The activities and entertainment are very good and everyone is encouraged
to join in; including visitors. Birthdays are made very special.

My mother has been here at Ashley Court from 2011, so 5 years. Her room is always clean, and the staff make sure that she has drinks. When the family come and visit, always made welcome. Mum has improved and her fluid and food intake are improved also.

My mother has been a resident at Ashley Court for three months and has settled in well. I visit mum regularly and have always found her to be well looked after by the caring staff who are always friendly and helpful. The home is very well run and is always very clean and tidy. I found Ashley Court very helpful, very kind to my mother, but what is more important is that my mother was happy there. My mother and I went out during my day my mother told me she wanted to go home, that said it all.

Mum became a resident in Oct 2014 and from the start of her time at the home, enjoyed her stay. She was always cheerful and happy and even though she had Dementia, I honestly believe that in 18 months, she had not deteriorated much at all and had stayed remarkably stable, helped I am sure, by activity
and by the friendly staff and other residents. She particularly enjoyed music, especially if she could join in with the sing - songs. The family enjoyed these events as well and it was great to see that she could remember more of the words from the lyrics than we could!
Mum took a turn for the worse recently and on Saturday after a difficult couple of days, she slipped away very peacefully, surrounded by the family. The staff, as usual, were fantastically caring and made a difficult time more bearable.
I do not want to mention anyone individually, because they all do a difficult job really well, but thanks to the Manager and her team; you are all wonderful!

Jacqui Marks

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2014

I began my journey at Ashley Court in 2014 as Deputy Manager, and in 2016, I was honoured to become the Registered Manager. But my path in care started much earlier—when I was just 17 years old. From the very beginning, I knew that caring for others wasn’t just a job for me; it was a calling.


Over the years, I’ve grown both personally and professionally. I’ve gained my NVQ Level 2, 3, and 5 in Health and Social Care, but more importantly, I’ve gained years of experience, countless memories, and a deep understanding of what it truly means to be there for someone—especially when they need it most.


Being a manager is not without its challenges, but it’s also one of the most rewarding parts of my life. I’m so proud to lead a team of kind, dedicated individuals who give their all every day. And what means the most to me is that, despite my responsibilities, I still get to be close to our residents—listening to their stories, sharing in their laughter, offering comfort in difficult times.


There’s something truly special about being able to make someone feel safe, heard, and cared for. That’s what fills my heart and keeps me going. I feel incredibly lucky to do what I love, surrounded by people who inspire me every single day.

I began my journey at Ashley Court in 2014 as a care assistant. With my previous experience, I quickly embraced the role of senior care assistant, working closely with residents to ensure they received the compassionate, personalized care they deserved. To further develop my skills, I earned my NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care


In 2018, I was promoted to deputy manager, a role that allowed me to combine hands-on care with broader leadership responsibilities. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of balancing administrative tasks with the genuine, everyday interactions that define our residents. It was a period of significant growth, both for myself and for the team I was proud to support.


Recently, I made the decision to step down from my deputy manager position to become the Head of Care. This change wasn’t about stepping away from leadership; rather, it was about reconnecting with what truly brings me joy—being directly involved in care. I wanted more time to focus on helping our residents enjoy a high quality of life, with compassion and respect as the cornerstones of every interaction.


I am incredibly proud to be part of Ashley Court, where each day offers the opportunity to touch lives, share smiles, and build a nurturing environment for our residents. It is an honour to work in a place that feels like home for so many, and I am excited to continue making a positive impact with every step I take.

Vidhushi Liyanage

Job Title: Head chef Joined: 2021

I was born and raised in Sri Lanka, where I worked as a professional actress & voice artist. Performing was my passion and identity. But when I moved to the UK, everything changed.


Looking for part-time work, I applied for a Kitchen Assistant role at Ashley Court in 2021. One day, when the chef called in sick, I was asked to step in. Watching the residents enjoy the meal I’d prepared sparked something in me — the same joy I once felt on stage. I realised food, like art, can touch hearts.


That day, I found a new stage — the kitchen.


I spoke with my manager, Jacqui, and asked if she would consider me for the role of Second Chef. With her support, I stepped into the role just six months after joining, and I threw myself into learning. I earned my Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering, as well as my Level 2 HACCP for Catering qualification.


In 2022, I became the Chef at Ashley Court and Head Chef in 2024. Cooking is my passion, and I put love, care, and intention into every meal I prepare to bring comfort to our residents. Watching them enjoy the food I create gives me a sense of peace and purpose that words cannot fully express.


Ashley Court isn’t just where I work — it’s where I found myself again. This is more than a job to me. It’s where my heart belongs, and I would happily do it for the rest of my life.

Tina Smith

Job Title: Activity Co-ordinator Joined: 2018

I was inspired to become an activity coordinator while working as a chef in another care home. I never expected to be given this opportunity, as being a chef was all I knew. A friend recommended me to the manager, and I've never looked back since. I started at Ashley Court in November 2018 and began my NAPA activity training in February 2019.


This job is incredibly rewarding on an emotional level. I have the privilege of providing activities and entertainment that residents might be missing out on. It’s amazing to see them happy, smiling, laughing, and having fun. I also find it fulfilling to help new residents settle into their new home, offering support as they cope with fear and anxiety while making new friends.


Now that I have been in this role for so long, I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
