Acacia Lodge Care Home

I would just like to write a few words about the lovely care my father-in-law has rec'd at acacia lodge over the past 18 mths.

When you get put into a position of an elderly relative needing more care than you can physically give, it's important that you choose what's best and right for them.

We found this care home was just that -restful, comfortable with kind, caring, knowledgeable staff who were always welcoming to us and had his best interests at heart which he appreciated. He had a comfortable room overlooking the garden with a bird table outside and his beloved TV close to hand.

As my father-in-laws health deteriorated we were given regular updates and nothing was too much trouble, we knew he was in safe hands if we couldn't always be with him.

This is all we could've wished for and thank them with all our hearts.

Dad stayed at Acacia Lodge for a little over a year, I wish he could have been there longer. The staff did their level best to get him to socialise, which was difficult given his depression. Will, Susan & the rest of the staff really were excellent.

My partner has been in Acacia Lodge for a year now (Alzheimer's) and seems happy enough. The staff are excellent and nothing is to much trouble. She smiles when staff talk to her and seems pleased to see them. The manager always takes time to talk to her and keeps me informed to how things are going. I couldn't ask for a better home for her to be in.

My Dad spent the last 6 months or so of his life in Acacia, although we didn't know that was the case when he started there. He couldn't have been in a better place and loved it there after living by himself in a flat up to the age of 88. Genuinely caring staff and in his own words - 'like a family' - couldn't ask for more. Only marked satisfactory for facilities due to the fact it could do with a a bit of investment in outdoor space and some dated furniture etc, but this is down to a general lack of funding to social care in general and no slight on Acacia, the essentials are great - and the staff amazing.

We couldn't have asked for a better 'new home' for dad.

Food is of good quality, bedrooms and all areas are kept very clean. They also have a very good events coordinator.

Whilst the building is slightly dated and needs some renovating, for me, it is more important that Dad is well cared for and I am satisfied that that is the case here. I'd highly recommend a viewing.

All the staff were very helpful and caring during my cousin's 3 years at Acacia Lodge. As my cousin's health deteriorated he was looked after better than if he had been at home. When he needed one-to-one care and his memory started to fail the care he received was exemplary and always very cheerful. I was always kept informed of any changes in his health. The home never, ever had that feeling or aroma of old people!

Mum was only in the care home for a short while after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour. She deteriorated very quickly. The staff at Acacia Lodge showed great compassion towards both Mum and our family. They kept Mum comfortable and allowed us extra visits as she neared the end of her life. We cannot thank everyone enough for making this difficult time so much easier for Mum and ourselves. As mentioned above, all staff including in the office and catering were excellent. And a special mention to 2 members of staff in particular who were amazing.

Acacia Lodge is great! I know my mum is happy being at Acacia Lodge, the staff are lovely and friendly. I don't have to worry about my mum as I know she is being well looked after. Keep up the good work.

Always been welcome. Nan has never had any problems there. With covid, it has been difficult as times but they did their best in the circumstances, either via a window or indoor visit when this became possible. However, always kept informed of Nan's wellbeing.

My husband has been a resident at Acacia Lodge Care Home for nearly 6 years and until last year from the start of a new manager, I had no worries about his care. Unfortunately from July 2020 to June 2021 my concerns were causing me and my family a great deal of distress. Thankfully a new manager, who was a previous manager is back. Plus several of the staff, who have previously left are now back. So I can feel happy and stress free again that his care, welfare and dignity are again in good hands.

Thorough protocol during COVID. Regular updates by post and phone. Regular contact regarding care plan.

I have always been pleased with the care my sister receives at all times. I cannot think of any way it could be improved. All care staff I have ever had contact with have been of the highest standards.

On visiting my sister I found her to be clean and comfortable. The whole home is always spotless and the staff are very obliging at all times. I cannot comment on the food as I have never been there at mealtimes.

Acacia Lodge staff are always welcoming, take time to answer questions and my father always seems well cared for.

This is my first visit to the home. The staff were very helpful and took time to explain the current situation during Covid-19. The home has a certain calm atmosphere. My father seems to be happy here.

Acacia Lodge provides a caring, safe environment for my father. I find communication pretty good and very good leadership and management. I have no concerns.
