We moved my elderly mum into Brackley Care Home recently and can say that all the staff at Brackley have been wonderful. Particularly, Julie who handled all the onboarding and smoothed out the process. The facilities are all modern, the staff courteous and helpful and the food is excellent. It's a nice
and peaceful environment even if it appears close to an industrial estate!
Reply from Stephanie Eley, Manager at Brackley Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to complete such a meaningful review. It is a real pleasure to look after your Mum, she is a true delight. We have a dedicated kitchen team who work tirelessly to ensure our residents are happy with the level of food provided, I will be sure to pass on your compliments.

My Father has been in Brackley Care Home since December 2025, we had a family crisis and the staff at the home really helped us to get him some for respite care initially. This has now become a permanent care home for his ongoing care. At home Dad was quite sedentary and had lost his zest for life.
The care home has been giving him stimulating exercises and classes and he is absolutely thriving on them and his sparkle is back in his eye.

The level of care he gets is incredibly high and we drop in on him unannounced and always find him clean, comfortable and he absolutely raves about how good the food is.

All the staff I meet are incredibly helpful and we are kept informed of any issues that need dealing with straightaway.

My father is a very happy man in the home and we feel he is in the right place for him.

My wife has been in the Brackley care home for approximately 20 months now. She has advanced dementia, and was very poorly when admitted due to unsatisfactory care at a previous home. The staff at Brackley have done wonders, and I can only say the level of care is superb.
When my wife was admitted
into Brackley I was told that both her and myself would become part of the the Brackley family, and they have been true to there words. They have given me so much time and support. Every member of staff that I have talked to has shown me kindness and empathy.
God bless all of them.
Reply from Stephanie Eley, Manager at Brackley Nursing HomeI wish to thank you for your very kind words as I know this will mean a lot to my team. My mother is in BCH and from the start of her stay both she (and us as a family) have felt very supported. The team are professional warm and friendly. She receives great care and the staff are attentive to her needs. My mother participates in many of the very well organised activities, and the activity
team are enthusiastic and encouraging. The home is extremely well run & management approachable & supportive.

Mum was very happily resident in Brackley Care Home for just two months. She went in to trial respite care but amazingly, she had decided in days that this care home was where she wanted to live out her life.
I have to say the whole process of admission was very straightforward and rapid from the
first phone contact to her arrival five days later. What I thought might be a difficult transition for her morphed into the easiest decision of the last twelve months.
Your main asset is your brilliant and committed staff right from admin, Nursing and all support staff - I dread to make a list or name names because I'll miss someone out! Mum enjoyed the social side of the home and support of other residents. Sometimes phone access was tricky.
Mum was given end of life care at the home - as a retired GP, I can vouch for all the effort, attention and commitment from day and night staff. You kept the family going with kindness and perfectly timed offers of sandwiches. Thank you so very much.
Reply from Stephanie Eley, Manager at Brackley Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to leave a review. In the short time we got to know you all, it was so nice to have you as part of the Brackley Care Home family. My team really do care about what they do which allows them to provide such good care to our residents. Thank you for also mentioning the admin team, they work so hard to provide the support needed. We understand how difficult it can be moving into a care setting and its lovely to hear how supported you felt. Please do come back and join in any of our community events, or just to pop in for coffee and cake, it would be lovely to see you all.

My mother moved into Brackley Care Home in October 2023. To be honest, we initially looked at it due to it's proximity to family, but then discovered it was by far the best we could find. We anticipated mum being in the dementia care ward, but were delighted when they said she could be in the main nursing
care area. Having said that, we know that the dementia care is superb so we know that mum's future is in safe hands. She is so well cared for and we love that she is taken out on trips. The security of the place is excellent, with the need to sign and out. Mum loves the entertainment that is laid on, the different guests and visitors who attend to provide all sorts of stimulation. The facilities are excellent, the staff caring and friendly, and we are so happy that mum has such a fabulous place to live.

My mum has been at the Brackley Nursing Home for over a year now. I have always found the staff to be exceptional in so many ways. They always go that extra mile, making sure nobody feels left out in the multitude of activities that take place. I must especially mention Kat & Debbie who are the activities
staff. Mum was very poorly when she arrived but the care she has received from day one has been second to none and she has thrived since then. Highly recommended.

All staff very welcoming and despite being modern, it feels very homely compared to others I visited.
Food is excellent - and as I live so far away, I am grateful for the opportunity to eat with Mum at no cost when arranged in advance.
There does seem to be a staff shortage at many times (Mum generally
requires 2 carers for mobilisation and toileting) - but again, it seems an issue with this sector.
All staff approachable and the home has also arranged transportation to funeral and social events outside of Brackley.
Reply from Stephanie Eley, Manager at Brackley Nursing HomeThank you very much for your thoughtful feedback. We are delighted to hear that you found the team welcoming and approachable, and that the home feels both modern and homely, that is exactly the environment we strive to create.
We are especially pleased that you have been able to share meals with your mum and enjoy the quality of the food together. We know how important those moments are, particularly when you live some distance away, and we are glad the arrangements have helped make visits more special.
We appreciate your understanding regarding staffing pressures within the sector. Please be assured that we continually review staffing levels to ensure residents' needs, including support requiring two carers, are met safely and with dignity.
It's also lovely to hear that the transport arrangements to funerals and social events have been helpful in keeping your mum connected beyond the home.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

Mum received a very warm welcome on arrival, for a week's respite care. Red roses, a card, chocolates and toiletries in her room were a personal touch. The room was spotlessly clean and Mum's name was already up outside, which she appreciated. My brother and I were welcomed to eat with Mum before we
left, which gave us an insight into the dining facilities: metal cutlery, white tablecloths and not a plastic beaker in sight! The residents are treated with respect, as adults, which is not the case with other homes I have recently experienced. My impression was that Mum was well cared for and included in activities throughout the week, including an outing to a garden centre for a coffee. She has particularly mentioned Alice for her excellent care although all staff were brilliant.

My husband went in to Brackley care home as he was dealing with Parkinsons desease and could no longer be cared for at home. The staff did all they could to help him with this very debilitating condition and cared for him till his passing. The family will be forever grateful for the care and kindness
shown by all the staff not only to him but also to the rest of his family. There were many staff who went above and beyond to do all they could for him in very difficult circumstances. The only thing I would mention is that at times the staff seemed overstretched due to the need for more staff.

Mum moved Brackley Care Home 3 months ago after her current care home suddenly closed, the staff have been very welcoming and supportive. Naturally it is taking a while for mum to settle and get to know her new environment, staff and residents and I will be honest I was worred about her becoming isolated, but
today I had first hand experience of her joining in, she came out so happy and kept saying how much she had enjoyed going to the cinema -it really made me smile and i felt a little bit of weight lifting as it is such a heart searching time when you have to move your mum from her family home of 60 years to ensure she is safe and can be cared for 24/7 .
I certainly feel mum is in good hands and i always feel welcome when i go to see her, often taking my dog.
Thank you

The staff were lovely, but treated poorly. The staff were scared to raise any issues with the management. This means the home struggles to retain staff and it relies heavily on agency staff. This leads to poor continuity of care.
My mum only had two things she wanted: a bath every other day, and a
short walk every morning. The home regularly failed to provide these. Because the staff turnaround was so high, they didn't notice changes in my mum's health.
We tried to raise these issues but ultimately things were deteriorating rather than improving. The management is poor and the staff conditions are awful, frankly. We took the decision to move my mum to a different home. We promised other residents and family members who are also unhappy that we would post this review.
Reply from Stephanie Eley, Manager at Brackley Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to complete this review. At Brackley Care Home we welcome all feedback. However, I would like to address some of the comments you have made. I can reassure you our staff retention is the highest it has ever been and the clear evidence of regular staff meetings, supervisions and anonymous staff surveys is that our team feels supported and happy. Agency staff are only ever used to cover sickness when we are unable to cover shifts using members of our own team. Reviewing our records, it is clear your mother was regularly assisted with baths and we also offered to support her to exercise but on many occasions she declined. We are always ready to investigate and answer any concerns families have and we pride ourselves on good communication with regular relatives' meetings, weekly emails and open access to the home manager and client service manager.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.898)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.898) out of 10 for Brackley Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 66 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 65 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.898 for Brackley Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (717 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 778 Ratings = 4.898
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brackley Nursing Home is based on 65 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 65 Positive reviews.
