Leawood Manor

Although my aunt was only at Leawood Manor for just over four weeks, when she became very ill after only three weeks, the care given by the staff to Aunty went beyond the norm and indeed, meant she was able to spend her final days in Leawood Manor and not in hospital which meant everything to her and to us. The staff could not have been kinder and this was so much appreciated at such a sad time.

Mum was resident in Leawood for just over a year. In that time we got to know the care staff very well as my brother and I would go on alternate days. It really did feel like a second home. I never dreaded going and knew Mum was in good care. My Mum could be quite fussy with eating but was always grateful for the care and attention she received whilst at the home. Leawood put on lots of events throughout the year to entertain and encourage family members to come along. I'll miss going to Leawood and the staff. Thanks for everything you did for Mum.

I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude to the management and staff of Leawood Manor who were responsible for the care of my mother during the final three years of her life. Although during this time she suffered from advanced dementia, they were undaunted in their kind and caring attitude towards her. As I live abroad, I was unable to visit frequently, but when I could, I was amazed by the staff's willingness and ability to effectively become members of our small family. To a person, they were familiar with my mother's background and could swap anecdotes regarding our individual circumstances. I cannot recommend more highly these fantastic people and their home for the quality of their care in a well-run, safe and secure environment. Thank you once again to all involved!

What a good service it is and very friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The home is very clean and the staff are polite.

I cannot praise the staff enough. Everyone is extremely friendly, helpful and professional without exception. My father has settled in well. He enjoys the food and his room is very comfortable. Thank you to all the staff, and also to the manager for all his help, in making my dad's moving in as smooth as possible.

Very happy with this home since Mum moved here in October. Plenty to occupy her, singalongs etc. Staff are very attentive, its a home from home.

My mother has been a resident here for over 5 years now and I am very pleased with the care she has received. The staff treat her with respect and are very caring. There is always a cheerful atmosphere. Everywhere is clean and the meals are very good.

Mum came to live here two weeks ago and is settling in well. The staff really try to make her happy. Accommodation is really comfortable. Like being at home. She has already been to the cinema which she really enjoyed.

Leawood Manor have been very helpful throughout the process of admitting my mother for respite care, after a short stay in hospital. The staff have been very nice and professional in all care and support requirements. The facilities are to a high standard. Communication has been good and responses have been timely.

I viewed Leawood Manor without making a prior appointment when looking for a care home for my much-loved Dad who was moving to Nottingham to be near to us. I was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming everyone was. The overall atmosphere was calm and relaxed. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The manager and senior staff tried very hard to help Dad settle in, which wasn’t easy, as Dad had been used to living alone in his own house. The staff were caring and Dad had commented to me that the staff were gentle when carrying out his personal care. Dad didn’t really join in with the social activities on offer, he was visually impaired and preferred to rest in his room. That being said, he was never overlooked or forgotten and staff were trying to engage him in activities which he enjoyed at home ie, gardening, pottering in the greenhouse and being taken out in a wheelchair for a stroll and some fresh air. Dad was settling when he died suddenly due to a pre-existing condition.

I've been very impressed with the dedication and care of the staff at Leawood Manor. They have taken time to get to know my father well and have put lots of small methods in place to help him settle and cope with his dementia. The carers are genuinely friendly towards him and work hard to build a positive and happy atmosphere.

I would be happy to recommend Leawood Manor.

Leawood Manor has far exceeded our expectations. So wonderful. Although Mum has only been at Leawood Manor a few weeks she has settled very well, thanks to the marvellous and personalised attention she has received from all the staff and management. They have all been such good listeners and worked tirelessly to keep her busy, active and interested, from helping in the kitchen to showing other residents how to knit.

My mother was a resident at Leawood Manor for over 4 years. She was cared for my an extremely dedicated team of staff. This includes all departments, not just the care staff. Nothing was too much trouble for any staff member. If my mother needed care/help/assistance in any matter this was provided without a problem. I found the atmosphere to be very relaxed with my mother never being under any pressure. Meal times were never a problem with my mother happy to share a table with three other residents.

My mother recently enjoyed her 88th birthday in the home, primarily due to the efforts of the staff who went to extreme lengths to ensure it was a lovely, family-focused day. On the day of her birthday, a table was set in a private area and the delicious meal was served by the assistant chef. Nothing was too much trouble and fond memories were made. The head chef also changed his day off to be present at an organised tea party - absolutely amazing care and attention.

My husband has been a resident for 16 months. Mostly the care has been good, though we had a rough few weeks to start as staff seemed to have no training or understand his condition. He had a severe stroke and could not transfer as he had to be hoisted from the bed to chair. The home manager initiated an hourly observation record so that attention was brought to staff re the need to have his bell within reach etc, etc. Since then most staff are very efficient and handle him very well. The food is a slight problem.

Mum has received excellent care since moving into Leawood Manor. She was needing more help and assistance with daily life and wanted to be nearer her family. She has settled well and made some new friends. The activities are thoughtfully planned and Mum has been encouraged to join in. The staff are always helpful and approachable.
