The garden visits are absolutely vital during this pandemic. The chance to visit and chat with my wife is so much appreciated, she seems to be very happy and contented and is full of praise for the staff.

My mum has been in Leawood Manor for several months now. The home is located in a quiet and pleasant setting. It is secure, neat, tidy and spotlessly clean.
From the start, the home management have been accessible and have communicated straightforwardly. That gave us confidence in placing Mum with the home. That confidence has been repeatedly reinforced over the last few months. All the staff I have met when visiting my mum have been pleasant and several have been very friendly. They all seem to care about the residents they look after and have been very caring towards my mum.

The home has had a few COVID-19 cases but the home have communicated the issue and their response clearly and promptly. They seem to have a difficult situation under control. I'm unsurprised given the care and attention I have seen from management and staff. Despite the pressures, staff found time to arrange a private, socially-distanced visit to my mum. That was especially kind. Thank you.

The Manager and all the Care Staff at Leawood Manor are amazing. I cannot speak more highly of all.
In these dreadful times we are experiencing right now, the photos of residents appear daily on social media page so we can all see how our loved ones are. Extremely thoughtful of everyone.

The Management and Staff do exactly what it says on the "tin"..... They Care.

My mother, almost 93 and has suffered from Dementia for around 15/20 years and has been a resident at Leawood Manor for just over seven years. Mum originally came to Leawood as a day visitor, then for a period of respite before moving in full time. It was my mother's sole decision with support from all her family. Her care has consistently been excellent and the home offers high and consistent care for residents. Caregivers, support staff and management have always been professional, caring, have communicated well and been extremely supportive during the past 12 months when we have not been able to visit Mum as regularly as we would like to due to my wife's cancer treatment.

It is almost May 2020 and I would like to give special praise to all at Leawood and the way they have, so far, coped with the Covid 19 Pandemic; apart from the fact we cannot visit my mother and giver her a cuddle, hug and kisses - members of staff have been exemplary at keeping in contact in a wide variety of ways. Thank you.

The care my mother continues to receive is exemplary. She is treated with kindness, respect and a very high quality of care. Having now discovered a passion for knitting, the staff keep her supplied with wool and new ideas about what to knit. This helps keep her occupied and feel valued.

Although my aunt was only at Leawood Manor for just over four weeks, when she became very ill after only three weeks, the care given by the staff to Aunty went beyond the norm and indeed, meant she was able to spend her final days in Leawood Manor and not in hospital which meant everything to her and to us. The staff could not have been kinder and this was so much appreciated at such a sad time.

Mum was resident in Leawood for just over a year. In that time we got to know the care staff very well as my brother and I would go on alternate days. It really did feel like a second home. I never dreaded going and knew Mum was in good care. My Mum could be quite fussy with eating but was always grateful for the care and attention she received whilst at the home. Leawood put on lots of events throughout the year to entertain and encourage family members to come along. I'll miss going to Leawood and the staff. Thanks for everything you did for Mum.

I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude to the management and staff of Leawood Manor who were responsible for the care of my mother during the final three years of her life. Although during this time she suffered from advanced dementia, they were undaunted in their kind and caring attitude towards her. As I live abroad, I was unable to visit frequently, but when I could, I was amazed by the staff's willingness and ability to effectively become members of our small family. To a person, they were familiar with my mother's background and could swap anecdotes regarding our individual circumstances. I cannot recommend more highly these fantastic people and their home for the quality of their care in a well-run, safe and secure environment. Thank you once again to all involved!

Hira Butt
Hira ButtJob Title:Home Manager

Hi, I’m Hira, and I’m so happy to introduce myself as the new Home Manager here at Leawood Manor.

I’ve worked in care for over 12 years, across a range of settings, and have spent the last couple of years in management. I’ve been with Runwood Homes for just under two years, and it’s been a great journey so far. Stepping into this new role at Leawood is something I feel both proud and excited about.

Caring for others has always been a big part of who I am. I grew up surrounded by older relatives whose stories and wisdom made a lasting impact on me. That’s where my passion for person-centred care comes from, making sure people feel truly known, respected, and supported in a way that suits them and their life story.

Outside of work, I’m a mum to two lovely boys who keep me busy! I enjoy cooking, trying out new recipes, and making memories on family holidays. I’m very family-oriented, and I like to bring that same warmth into the home, making sure our residents feel like part of one big extended family.

Leawood Manor already has a lovely feel to it, and my aim is to build on that. I want to bring in fresh energy, support the team in doing their best work, and help make every day a positive experience for our residents. Whether that’s through thoughtful changes, new activities, or simply creating more moments of connection and joy, I’m here to make a difference.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone, residents, families, staff, and the local community. My door is always open for a chat!

Tanya Raven
Tanya RavenJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2008

I bring 16 years of dedicated experience in the care sector to my role as Deputy Home Manager at Leawood Manor.

I am passionate about providing compassionate, person-centred care and am committed to ensuring the highest standards of care for the residents. My extensive background in both hands-on care and management equips me with the skills to lead and support my team effectively, always putting the well-being and dignity of those we care for at the forefront of everything I do here at Leawood Manor.

Sue
Sue Job Title:Lifestyle CoordinatorJoined: 2019

Hi, I’m Sue, and I’ve been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Leawood Manor for the past 5 years. I feel very privileged to do this role and the rewards are immense.

I like to adopt a person-centred approach to well-being, and it’s important for me to tailor the activities around each individual resident's interests and needs.

Our diverse activities program focuses on their emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and physical needs and enables residents to carry on with hobbies and interests they undertook prior to coming to Leawood as well as experiencing a few new ones along the way! all-important to promote independence and self-worth

Behind the scenes, we are always looking at organising events, encouraging friendship groups, and dementia cafes, and being involved in the local community.

My role goes far beyond organising activities; it’s about empowerment and offering support to allow residents to lead the life they wish to lead.

Gary
Gary Job Title:Kitchen Services ManagerJoined: 2011

My name is Gary. After spending 13 years in hotel and restaurant catering, I transitioned to the care sector with a clear purpose: to make a positive impact on food services within the care industry. Since joining Leawood Manor, I’ve been proud to play a key role in driving this change, earning numerous awards and accolades along the way.

Building strong, personal relationships with our residents has been a cornerstone of my approach, allowing me to deliver a person-centred service and tailor menus that reflect their individual preferences and needs.

The daily interactions with residents bring me immense satisfaction, and I’m continually inspired by the impact I can make in their lives.

I have no regrets about my career shift, and I’m motivated every day by the rewarding work I do. I look forward to continuing to serve our residents and contributing to the high standards we have set at Leawood Manor for many years to come.
