My mother and father moved to Leawood Manor in 2017. Mum stayed over 4 years, Dad just over a year. When I first met the staff, I was sure they would be in good hands. Nothing has changed my mind since. The house is very well managed, scrupulously clean, light and airy, friendly and comfortable.

Highly recommended.

This is the first time I have had experiences of a residential care home and must commend Leawood Manor staff and management on their care and professionalism in looking after a gentleman of 103.

The staff, in particular, were outstanding in keeping him well and in good spirits.

My father has been a resident at Leawood Manor for just over a year, suffering from Parkinson's and Lewy bodies dementia. The staff from management, through careers to auxiliary levels, have been excellent. They are respectful, kind and considerate. Unfortunately, my father died in July whilst in their care. They could not have done any more to make his last days as comfortable as possible. We were able to visit daily, staff tested us well, and were as unobtrusive as possible. I would certainly recommend Leawood Manor to anyone wanting the best for a member of the family.

My wife was in Leawood Manor from October 2019. Until COVID, I visited almost every day and took her out for the day on Saturday and Sunday so I became known. I always found the staff cheerful, helpful and caring and this continued after the onset of COVID. My wife was physically largley incapable especially during the last six months, but I was always confident that she would get the proper care and that I would be told of any problems.

From the manager and all the staff, my mother and our family have received nothing but exceptional care and understanding. The manager knows everything about the care of my mother including what she has eaten for lunch! The home is extremely clean and my mother has a lovely room. The staff are warm and welcoming. Highly recommended. Thank you Leawood Manor.

My mother went into Leawood initially for respite care after feeling unwell. Staff collected her from home and were very kind. After a few days, she requested to stay on a permanent basis as she liked the home and the staff. On my visits, I have been very impressed by the care that Mother has received and also the manager and staff.

Due to COVID, the visits have been very limited, but the staff have made a great effort for me to see my wife through the glass. Under the circumstances to keep the residents safe the extra effort shows the dedication and care they give. Me and my sons know for the last year that my wife could not have been looked after any better. Thanks.

This past year due to the Corona virus has been difficult, to say the least! Sometimes during the lockdown, there were no visits allowed, sometimes it was gardens visits and sometimes just a wave through the window. However, the staff did their very best to accommodate the visitors and they had our relatives best interests at heart. Now we can visit indoors (only 1 designated visitor) which is wonderful.

Mum has now been with the great team at Leawood Manor for 4 months now and I would like to say that the staff and management of this care home have all been fantastic. With all the difficulties of going into care with the COVID restrictions, they have communicated with us very effectively from day one. They have great access to the GP surgery, district nurse and dentist which my mother has tested each service already and would have been really hard to do if she had stayed at home. The staff there keep us informed of any issues that are happening with Mum and deal with it very professionally. The rooms are superb and even though we sadly cannot visit we can tell from the FaceTime calls that they are very clean and to a high standard. They have some good activities going on which is communicated by an active Facebook page which although my mum cannot take part in most of the time she will enjoy watching the others partake. Thank you, Leawood for making this a great experience to date.

The staff went above and beyond to care for my Dad in the last year of his life. They kept him safe in the most difficult of times. Our frustrations with not being able to see him were met with compassion and understanding. Sadly his fight with Dementia came to an end on the 16th of November. During the last few days of his life, the staff kept us informed every step of the way. We will be forever grateful to them for allowing us time to be with him when he passed away. We will miss you all.

We have been so grateful to the manager and all the staff at this wonderful care home. Our father moved there in April 2020 direct from hospital during the early days of COVID. He was extremely ill, confused and unhappy. The staff have worked tirelessly to support him and us during this time. The home is scrupulously clean and comfortable, with beautiful gardens. When visiting has been allowed, the staff have been as accommodating as possible. When we Skype every morning we have witnessed how caring the staff are - greeting our father affectionately and stroking his cheek.

The fact that his condition has stabilised and his mental capacity improved is down to the hard work and effort made by all. As a family we cannot thank them enough.

In all my interactions with Leawood, I have been dealt with in a highly professional manner. The staff are all friendly and welcoming in all the times I have visited. Due to Covid, I have not been able to go into Leawood which I fully understand. However, staff always keep me updated on Dad's welfare. Some comments I cannot make as I have not yet been inside the home.

Hira Butt
Hira ButtJob Title:Home Manager

Hi, I’m Hira, and I’m so happy to introduce myself as the new Home Manager here at Leawood Manor.

I’ve worked in care for over 12 years, across a range of settings, and have spent the last couple of years in management. I’ve been with Runwood Homes for just under two years, and it’s been a great journey so far. Stepping into this new role at Leawood is something I feel both proud and excited about.

Caring for others has always been a big part of who I am. I grew up surrounded by older relatives whose stories and wisdom made a lasting impact on me. That’s where my passion for person-centred care comes from, making sure people feel truly known, respected, and supported in a way that suits them and their life story.

Outside of work, I’m a mum to two lovely boys who keep me busy! I enjoy cooking, trying out new recipes, and making memories on family holidays. I’m very family-oriented, and I like to bring that same warmth into the home, making sure our residents feel like part of one big extended family.

Leawood Manor already has a lovely feel to it, and my aim is to build on that. I want to bring in fresh energy, support the team in doing their best work, and help make every day a positive experience for our residents. Whether that’s through thoughtful changes, new activities, or simply creating more moments of connection and joy, I’m here to make a difference.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone, residents, families, staff, and the local community. My door is always open for a chat!

Tanya Raven
Tanya RavenJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2008

I bring 16 years of dedicated experience in the care sector to my role as Deputy Home Manager at Leawood Manor.

I am passionate about providing compassionate, person-centred care and am committed to ensuring the highest standards of care for the residents. My extensive background in both hands-on care and management equips me with the skills to lead and support my team effectively, always putting the well-being and dignity of those we care for at the forefront of everything I do here at Leawood Manor.

Sue
Sue Job Title:Lifestyle CoordinatorJoined: 2019

Hi, I’m Sue, and I’ve been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Leawood Manor for the past 5 years. I feel very privileged to do this role and the rewards are immense.

I like to adopt a person-centred approach to well-being, and it’s important for me to tailor the activities around each individual resident's interests and needs.

Our diverse activities program focuses on their emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and physical needs and enables residents to carry on with hobbies and interests they undertook prior to coming to Leawood as well as experiencing a few new ones along the way! all-important to promote independence and self-worth

Behind the scenes, we are always looking at organising events, encouraging friendship groups, and dementia cafes, and being involved in the local community.

My role goes far beyond organising activities; it’s about empowerment and offering support to allow residents to lead the life they wish to lead.

Gary
Gary Job Title:Kitchen Services ManagerJoined: 2011

My name is Gary. After spending 13 years in hotel and restaurant catering, I transitioned to the care sector with a clear purpose: to make a positive impact on food services within the care industry. Since joining Leawood Manor, I’ve been proud to play a key role in driving this change, earning numerous awards and accolades along the way.

Building strong, personal relationships with our residents has been a cornerstone of my approach, allowing me to deliver a person-centred service and tailor menus that reflect their individual preferences and needs.

The daily interactions with residents bring me immense satisfaction, and I’m continually inspired by the impact I can make in their lives.

I have no regrets about my career shift, and I’m motivated every day by the rewarding work I do. I look forward to continuing to serve our residents and contributing to the high standards we have set at Leawood Manor for many years to come.
