Newgate Lodge Care Home is situated in the market town of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. The Home is ideally located close to the town centre with good bus, rail and road links and only a short journey to the picturesque settings of Newstead Abbey and Sherwood Forest.

Newgate Lodge is a residential care home registered to provide Residential and Dementia care for 60 older persons. They have been awarded the Dementia Quality Mark by Nottinghamshire Social Services and their CQC rating is “GOOD” with good achieved in all 5 inspection areas (March 2019).

All care plans are designed to meet the unique needs of each individual, recognising their abilities and always encouraging and assisting independence, empowering people to remain in control of their daily lives. The team also invites loved ones and representatives to be actively involved in the care planning process with regular reviews.

From initial meeting and viewing of the facilities the process of accommodating my mother has been excellent.
Communication has been first class and the care being offered is good.
The standards of cleanliness is very good and the staff have been welcoming and very helpful.

The care staff have ensured she felt welcomed when she moved into the care home as she was very apprehensive at first.
Newgate Lodge care home is the only home I have found after reviewing several locally that offers her activities and facilities to suit her needs. The home always smells nice and everywhere
is very clean but staff still have time to talk with the people living there.
The management are knowledgable with extensive experience and are only too willing to listen to any queries I have had and the care staff are very friendly and ensure my mum is assisted with everything she needs
The meals provided are nutritious and presented lovely
The grounds the home is in are extensive so she can take a walk outside when she wants and can make the most of the great weather lately
After working in care myself previously I knew the standard of care I was looking for and found this at Newgate Lodge

Newgate Lodge is a welcoming, supportive, caring home. All the staff have made a stressful time easier for myself and my sister. When you go there it is like having a second family. They take the time to listen to you and treat the residents with respect. I would recommend the home.

The care home is amazing. It is literally home from home-from-home feeling. They treat all residents with so much respect and care. As you enter the home it smells lovely. The cleaners do a good job. All the staff, including the office, carers and supervisors are just fantastic. The food is restaurant
standard and they eat it in a beautiful dining room. They treat the residents as real people and have nice chats and laughs with them. They have an amazing entertainment team that organises daily activities from playing games, yoga, stretches, mind games and also have outside singers come in. Overall just a fantastic care home.

I wanted to reach out and say thank you to you and to the amazing staff of Newgate Lodge Care Home. My grandmother was only there for a few days but everyone there made those few days beautiful. I know how much I loved my visit there and how impressed I was with every person I had contact with. They
were all genuine and lovely to talk to. I loved seeing how gentle they were with my grandma and I can't tell you how much their love and care meant to me. Newgate Lodge was the answer to all our prayers and I felt so good leaving my grandma in your capable hands, I only wish it could have been for a little longer.

My sister has settled in well and although distance dictates that we don't visit often, whenever we visit, we find the staff friendly and caring. We are also informed regularly if my sister needs anything, which we do our best to send her.

My mother came to Newgate 7 1/2 years ago, the outlook only being for 6 months but with the love and care given by all the staff, we had her for a further 7 years. This was down to all the staff's love, stimulation and encouragement. We would like to say that the staff and management all do really Care
with a capital "C" about all the residents they look after. We have found that not only do they care about their residents, they also look after and support family members, as we have found a few times over the years. We never had concerns about Mum's eating, as she always cleared the plate, the food provided is freshly cooked on the premises every day and very nutritious. The day Mum passed the staff's support, and love was immeasurable they helped with everything that needed doing, their arms were around us in a very caring way, this is how the staff are and it's exactly how they look after the people, one big family. We will be forever grateful to everyone involved in Mum's care. Highly recommend.

The staff are absolutely outstanding. The activities that they do with the residents are so good. The residents are always kept occupied. I can't thank the care staff enough for all the care they have given to my mum, even when she's not being particularly kind to them. They always wear a smile.

I would just like to say how grateful for the care given to my father following a fall in his room, not only was it an extremely stressful time for him to have to wait for a paramedic, but the support your team gave to me was very much appreciated as it was an upsetting experience. We visit our friend every couple of weeks and have always been struck by the friendly atmosphere and extremely pleasant manners of the staff. Today the home was decorated for Christmas and seasonal music was playing.
Sadly, our friend is slowly slipping away, but her life is made as pleasant as it
can be by the care and respectful consideration given to her at Newgate Lodge.

I was recommended to Newgate Lodge Care Home for Mum's care by a family friend. I found the receptionist, the manager and all the staff to be lovely, helpful people. The care my mum has received since she came here has been outstanding. I cannot praise the staff enough for all they have done for her.
She is much happier and healthier. The improvement in her overall health and appearance is remarkable. She loves the food, the recreational activities, concerts, arts and crafts and activities. She is out of bed every morning which is very important when confined to a wheelchair. Overall, five-star.

I think this care home is brilliant, they look after my mum who has dementia, they treat her like she's one of their own family members. She loves to hug all the staff and smiles as soon as someone talks to her. She is always nicely dressed, in clean clothes and has her hair done on a regular basis
by the hairdresser who comes once a week. The entertainment team keeps them fully entertained with lots of different activities. We get a warm welcome from reception and office staff. The home keeps us informed of my mum's health issues and general well-being. I would recommend this home to anyone who wants their family members to be professionally looked after.

As a family, we cannot thank the Newgate Lodge staff enough for the care that Dad received in the 6 months he spent with them. The kindness and compassion shown by everyone was such a comfort to us. Laura joined Lidder Care in 2022, bringing over 20 years of experience in caring for older adults. Her impressive career in the care industry has seen her rise from a Care Assistant to Team Leader, then Head of Care and ultimately a Home Manager.


As the Registered Manager at Newgate Lodge Care Home, Laura is dedicated to fostering a happy and safe environment where residents and their families can spend quality time together. Laura’s favourite aspect of her role is engaging with residents and their families.

Lee has been Newgate Lodge’s Deputy Manager for the past 7 years. Lee has worked in care for 19 years and has extensive experience with a variety of conditions within elderly care and those with learning disabilities. Lee has level 5 management and leadership qualifications and has previous managerial experience. Lee’s ethos is putting the residents at the forefront of every decision made with regard to their care package and promoting inclusion between staff members and residents.

Tanya joined Newgate Lodge in 2014. Her journey in the care sector has seen her excel in various roles, from Senior Carer to Care Coordinator. In her current role as Care Manager, she is responsible for audit and compliance and shares her expertise by delivering first aid and moving and handling training.


Tanya loves the daily interaction of residents and their families and the unique challenges that each day brings. Outside of work, Tanya loves spending time with her family and her two children.

Rebekah Buckley

As Front of House at Newgate Lodge Care Home, Rebekah brings with her a rich background in administration and sales. Since joining Lidder Care in 2022, she expertly and compassionately manages requests, provides tours of the home to potential new residents and their families, warmly welcomes visitors to the home and ensures accurate record-keeping.


Rebekah enjoys meeting new families, connecting with residents and delving into their life stories and experiences. Her passion for people shines through in every interaction.


Born in Scotland and having spent five vibrant years in Germany, Rebekah brings a unique cultural perspective to her work. Outside of work, she channels her creativity into her own business, crafting beautiful wax melts.

Dale

Dale Carrington

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2021

Dale has been a valued member of the Newgate Lodge team since 2021 and brings experience in the care sector dating back to 2019. She began her journey at Newgate as a member of the care team, where she spent three years before moving to her current role as an Activities Coordinator in November 2024.


Before joining the care industry, Dale built valuable experience in the childcare sector, working at a playgroup and children’s holiday club.


Dale’s favourite part of the role is planning and organising meaningful, tailored activities and events that enrich the lives of our residents. She takes pride in encouraging resident involvement in the community, helping to build and strengthen valuable connections beyond the home. She enjoys the variety each day brings and the joy of making each resident smile.


Outside of work, Dale loves spending quality time with her friends and family. She enjoys seaside getaways to Filey, Skegness and Bridlington, where she makes cherished memories with her husband, friends, family and their beloved dog, Nala.

Melanie

Melanie Johnson

Melanie joined the Newgate Lodge activities team in 2025, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep passion for making a difference. After spending over 20 years working in a community pharmacy, she realised she wanted a more fulfilling path. This led her into the care sector, where she spent 15 years supporting individuals in rehabilitation services.


Melanie’s favourite part of her role is knowing she makes a meaningful difference in residents’ lives every single day.


Outside of work, Melanie enjoys weekend getaways in her caravan with her husband-to-be and their two much-loved cockapoos, Lottie and Ella. She finds peace and joy unwinding by a scenic lake, soaking in the tranquillity of nature.

Sharon Luckcuck

Sharon became a part of the Newgate Lodge team back in 2004 and during her time advanced from carer to senior carer to her current role as Head Chef. With over 35 years of culinary experience, she provides a variety of nutritious and delicious meals tailored to all residents’ individual preferences, taking pride in creating dishes that bring joy to everyone.


When she isn’t cooking up a storm in the kitchen, Sharon pursues her passion for motorbikes and enjoys riding her Harley Davidson!

Denise

Denise Shaw

Job Title: Head Housekeeper Joined: 2003

Denise has been a part of the Newgate Lodge team since 2003. She has had various roles including Night Carer, Day Carer and Senior Carer. Currently, Denise serves as the Housekeeping Manager, where she ensures all areas of the home are impeccably clean and well maintained. Denise takes great pleasure in every aspect of her role!


In her spare time, Denise enjoys getting to immerse herself in a good book, travelling on holidays and spending time with her family.

Tony

Tony Nolan

Job Title: Maintenance Joined: 2022

Following a successful 27-year career installing fire alarms and intruder alarms, Tony joined Lowmoor Nursing Home as part of the Maintenance team in December 2022.


What Tony enjoys most about his role is the satisfaction he receives when a task is completed! He also loves the aspect of problem-solving coming up with ideas and resolving issues. The maintenance team look after the upkeep of the home, perform repairs and maintain outdoor areas.


When Tony is away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family and scouting.
