Newgate Lodge Care Home is situated in the market town of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. The Home is ideally located close to the town centre with good bus, rail and road links and only a short journey to the picturesque settings of Newstead Abbey and Sherwood Forest.

Newgate Lodge is a residential care home registered to provide Residential and Dementia care for 60 older persons. They have been awarded the Dementia Quality Mark by Nottinghamshire Social Services and their CQC rating is “GOOD” with good achieved in all 5 inspection areas (March 2019).

All care plans are designed to meet the unique needs of each individual, recognising their abilities and always encouraging and assisting independence, empowering people to remain in control of their daily lives. The team also invites loved ones and representatives to be actively involved in the care planning process with regular reviews.

Newgate Lodge have been caring for my dad since 2018, he has dementia. The home is always clean and tidy, never any unpleasant smells. All the staff are fabulous and lovely to residents and family members. He loves it when they have music on or singers in. The family are always informed of any health
issue however small and they coped especially well with covid. Residents are treated with dignity and loving care so I know dads safe and looked after well at all times. I've recommended the home to other families facing the care question for loved ones with dementia.

When we chose a care home for Mum we felt Newgate Lodge stood out from the rest in the area, many years on from that decision we can honestly say the same is true today. The home is so well designed with a number of lounges/dining areas, rather than a single large space, making it feel like your own
home. The staff and management make the home so welcoming for residents and their relatives, on top of which is the amazing care they provide to our loved ones. I have seen over the years a low turnover of staff which means a great deal, with new carers integrating so well into the Newgate family whether they be very young or joining from other homes, their empathy and friendliness with residents is outstanding. I would have no hesitation in recommending Newgate Lodge for a relative.

Unfortunately, due to the poor mobility and dementia my mother was suffering from, we had to make the decision to put her into Newgate Lodge Care Home, a decision we didn't regret as we knew that she would be safe there and well looked after. The staff were very attentive and considerate towards her
and always made a fuss of her and enjoyed a good laugh with her. We were always informed if there were any health problems to be concerned about and they allowed us to visit her anytime we wanted to and to stay as long as we wanted to if necessary, especially in the last few days of her life. I would definitely recommend Newgate Lodge to anyone looking for a care home for their nearest and dearest.

My mother was a resident at this care home for 6 years. I would highly recommend this care home for your loved one. The carers are amazing and treated my mum as if she was one of their family. The level of care was second to none. I also felt very welcome, the carers and staff were like my family too
and I miss them since my mum's passing.

On behalf of our family can I say thank you to all at Newgate lodge for the love, care and compassion shown to mum over the last 12 months while she was in your care. Visiting was difficult both with Covid and lockdown but we were always kept updated with mums care and any changes to it.


Not all

heroes wear capes. A massive thank you to the staff for always being on the end of the phone to answer any questions also to each and every carer that was involved in mum's care we will be forever grateful.

In common with other people in their 90’s, my friend was reluctant to be admitted for respite care. However, he settled into Newgate Lodge within a few days, and on leaving had completely changed his mind about whether he would ever live in a care home setting permanently. Throughout his stay, he was
treated as an individual and with courtesy. We all had the greatest admiration for the attention given to him by the staff and management and my friend came to look upon all involved with his care as true friends. His old friends were able to visit and take him out either for a walk around the local area or further afield to places of interest and even a pub lunch or two became part of his routine. All in all Newgate Lodge Care Home turned a very difficult time into one full of support, care, compassion and understanding. Well done to all of you.

Having had some experience of care homes, I feel Newgate Lodge is excellent. Very supportive, kind, honest, approachable staff, lovely food. Very good hygiene and cleanliness throughout. Very good communication. And all this whilst the country battles an awful virus, not helped by an incompetent Government.

My mum is 90, had a fall in her own home and fractured her arm. After three weeks in the hospital, we moved her to Newgate Lodge for a seven-week period of respite. The staff were all very friendly to me, spoke to mum a lot and took her to the hospital for checkups twice. They definitely helped mum
recover from the fracture, which has healed well. They kept her moving and she was quite fit when she left. The food is good and nourishing. The garden is very nice and the indoor corridors are quite wide. The rooms are nice and freshly decorated.

My grandma has been a resident of Newgate Lodge Care Home for a few years. She is very happy and content in her home. The staff treat her like one of their family. The home has a variety of activities available to residents and the environment is very homely. Relatives are also welcomed by the staff
and are always kept informed. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone. We are so pleased we chose this care home for my grandma.

My mum has lived here since Nov 2019, she has settled in really well. This is thanks to the lovely staff who will do anything to help and support. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The home is clean and welcoming. Her room is lovely and cosy, it is always warm and comforting.

Laura Quince

Laura joined Lidder Care in 2022, bringing over 20 years of experience in caring for older adults. Her impressive career in the care industry has seen her rise from a Care Assistant to Team Leader, then Head of Care and ultimately a Home Manager.


As the Registered Manager at Newgate Lodge Care Home, Laura is dedicated to fostering a happy and safe environment where residents and their families can spend quality time together. Laura’s favourite aspect of her role is engaging with residents and their families.


In her spare time, Laura enjoys spending time with friends and family, loves summer holidays and enjoys diving into a box set in the winter.

Lee Swinn

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2015

Lee has been Newgate Lodge’s Deputy Manager for the past 7 years. Lee has worked in care for 19 years and has extensive experience with a variety of conditions within elderly care and those with learning disabilities. Lee has level 5 management and leadership qualifications and has previous managerial experience. Lee’s ethos is putting the residents at the forefront of every decision made with regard to their care package and promoting inclusion between staff members and residents.

Tanya joined Newgate Lodge in 2014. Her journey in the care sector has seen her excel in various roles, from Senior Carer to Care Coordinator. Born in Scotland and having spent five vibrant years in Germany, Rebekah brings a unique cultural perspective to her work. Outside of work, she channels her creativity into her own business, crafting beautiful wax melts.

Dale

Dale Carrington

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2021

Dale has been a valued member of the Newgate Lodge team since 2021 and brings experience in the care sector dating back to 2019. She began her journey at Newgate as a member of the care team, where she spent three years before moving to her current role as an Activities Coordinator in November 2024.


Before joining the care industry, Dale built valuable experience in the childcare sector, working at a playgroup and children’s holiday club.


Dale’s favourite part of the role is planning and organising meaningful, tailored activities and events that enrich the lives of our residents. She takes pride in encouraging resident involvement in the community, helping to build and strengthen valuable connections beyond the home. She enjoys the variety each day brings and the joy of making each resident smile.


Outside of work, Dale loves spending quality time with her friends and family. She enjoys seaside getaways to Filey, Skegness and Bridlington, where she makes cherished memories with her husband, friends, family and their beloved dog, Nala.

Melanie

Melanie Johnson

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2025

Melanie joined the Newgate Lodge activities team in 2025, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep passion for making a difference. After spending over 20 years working in a community pharmacy, she realised she wanted a more fulfilling path. This led her into the care sector, where she spent 15 years supporting individuals in rehabilitation services.


Melanie’s favourite part of her role is knowing she makes a meaningful difference in residents’ lives every single day.


Outside of work, Melanie enjoys weekend getaways in her caravan with her husband-to-be and their two much-loved cockapoos, Lottie and Ella. She finds peace and joy unwinding by a scenic lake, soaking in the tranquillity of nature.

Sharon

Sharon Luckcuck

Job Title: Head of Kitchen Joined: 2004

Sharon became a part of the Newgate Lodge team back in 2004 and during her time advanced from carer to senior carer to her current role as Head Chef. With over 35 years of culinary experience, she provides a variety of nutritious and delicious meals tailored to all residents’ individual preferences, taking pride in creating dishes that bring joy to everyone.


When she isn’t cooking up a storm in the kitchen, Sharon pursues her passion for motorbikes and enjoys riding her Harley Davidson!

Denise

Denise Shaw

Job Title: Head Housekeeper Joined: 2003

Denise has been a part of the Newgate Lodge team since 2003. She has had various roles including Night Carer, Day Carer and Senior Carer. Currently, Denise serves as the Housekeeping Manager, where she ensures all areas of the home are impeccably clean and well maintained. Denise takes great pleasure in every aspect of her role!


In her spare time, Denise enjoys getting to immerse herself in a good book, travelling on holidays and spending time with her family.

Tony

Tony Nolan

Job Title: Maintenance Joined: 2022

Following a successful 27-year career installing fire alarms and intruder alarms, Tony joined Lowmoor Nursing Home as part of the Maintenance team in December 2022.


What Tony enjoys most about his role is the satisfaction he receives when a task is completed! He also loves the aspect of problem-solving coming up with ideas and resolving issues. The maintenance team look after the upkeep of the home, perform repairs and maintain outdoor areas.


When Tony is away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family and scouting.
