Barnby Court Care Home is an award winning family-run care home who genuinely care. The dedicated and long-serving team of friendly carers are tirelessly committed to the wellbeing and happiness of residents' lives. Barnby Court is a small home with a big heart.

Ashall Care believes that people should be encouraged and helped to continue the life they have always lived. Maintaining an individuals right to choose is the foundation of their wellbeing and promotes happiness and contentment throughout the home, not only for residents but for the families and staff too. From here, the team can do wonderful things to enrich the lives of everyone who lives here.

Barnby Court has 23 bedrooms, all of which have a sink within; they are individually and tastefully decorated. Externally there is a beautiful enclosed garden with seating. An active lifestyle is encouraged and a varied activities programme tailored to individual interests is offered.

The home is located centrally within Barnby Moor. There are good road connections an the home is easily accessible from the A638 and A1. It is approximately 3 miles north of Retford.

Barnby Court has a 'Good' CQC rating (December 2020) and is a band 4 Nottinghamshire County Council Quality Rating and has a top band 5 Food Hygiene rating (March 2023).

Mum has been in respite for four weeks and the staff could not be any more helpful. All staff have got to know Mum and she is clean, settled and seems happy. Her room is lovely and the staff have managed her personal care efficiently and with respect.

This was a very hard decision for me to make to bring my husband here. but it had to be done. I couldn't cope at home any longer and it takes quite a lot of adjusting to, but thankfully he is well looked after and the staff are all very pleasant and helpful.

I have been very impressed with the dedication and ability, and how the staff and management coped during the difficult past 18 months.
Mum is always treated with dignity. Staff are alert to changes which might indicate illness or distress and are innovative in ways to try and stimulate responses.

Very helpful staff - the manager leads a great team. Staff are really helpful regarding arrangements too. Mum seems really happy and I’m relieved that she is safe too. Whenever I telephone to see how my wife is I am always impressed that whichever member of staff answers is always fully aware of my wife's current situation, even down to such detail as having her hair washed or what she has eaten that day. Mags has gained many years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives.


She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Mag aims to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Barnby Court.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Mags remarked:
“Every day is so different, I love planning for the future and improving our services. I love the diversity of my role and the people we meet, I love sharing knowledge and training and empowering the team.”
