The home is purpose built and situated near the centre of Sutton in Ashfield making it ideal for local amenities. The home specialises in Dementia care along with caring for the younger physically disabled offering long and short term care as well as facilities to provide day care.

Staff have a great deal of experience in maintaining a calm and pleasing environment which is beneficial to good mental health, with up to thirty-nine residents all receiving a personal service.

Activities play a big part in the home and on offer there are a wide range of events catering to each individuals needs. Some examples include: baking, arts & crafts, gardening, exercise, life skills and pet care. Other specialist therapies are also available. These can include reminiscence therapy, doll therapy and complimentary therapies. The home also has its own sensory room.

There are two other Ashmere care facilities in close proximity which allows for a greater versatility and sharing of care expertise.

When my auntie was admitted to the home, I was very impressed with the homes communications skills. The senior on the phone made sure I was happy and understood everything that was going on. I'm very happy with how she's settled in. Couldn't ask for anything more.

I can't thank all the staff enough for how they looked after my gran; they made her feel like one of the family. The activities that are there for the residents are amazing; it was lovely to see Gran so happy, and she loved the company and all the attention she got. Thank you all at Sutton Lodge.

Since arriving at the care home, I found that the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I wasn't kept waiting and was promptly taken to a place where I could meet my father-in-law. One member of staff was a lovely lady, and we need more people like her.

My 95-year-old mother was admitted for rehab at relatively short notice. She had early-stage dementia only. No form of written induction was given to me as a prime carer. Verbal information given differed from staff members. Mam was very unhappy during her stay. Most other residents had advanced dementia
leaving her quite upset as she is used to being in a non-dementia environment. I was told on several occasions she had a TV in her room but on checking there was no remote for the TV, I was told by a carer that they have all disappeared. Mam said on one occasion there was no bowl in her commode for use during the night, she had to pass urine into several pairs of pants and then put them in the sink. Getting a bowl seemed hard work. There also appeared a lack of stimulation for the residents. The carers were caring and the food was good. Didn't quite work for someone going for rehab.

I visited my friend regularly before lockdown. It was always so welcoming, staff lovely, couldn't do enough for me or my friend. Used to enjoy the entertainment that they had, then I had to stop visiting, but the staff did everything to keep our friendship alive. They let me talk to her on a regular
basis with video calls, also she is very happy here, so that makes me and her daughter happy.

Feels so lovely to think our mum is being looked after and cared for the way we would care for her at home if we could. How settled she is here shows how much she is cared for and at peace, which is all we can ask for. Can't answer a lot as I've never been in the home for not being allowed for Covid.

The new facilities that have been created, the tea room and the pub, are excellent for visiting our relative. On arrival, I was pleased with how the care assistant helped our relative in on her wheelchair and shown care and support towards her, talking to her and explaining what she was doing and making
sure we all had a drink and ok before leaving us.

A very friendly welcome with a lovely cup of tea. The tea room was lovely and warm, and very clean. There is plenty of space, and all safety measures were met - without ruining the visit.

My partner went into the Lodge in Nov 2018 after I'd viewed over 10 homes to find the best place. I picked the Lodge as it felt like the right place for her, and I've never regretted my decision. From top to bottom, all the staff are friendly, approachable but most of all, professional. I'm always kept
up to date with any problems, and over the lockdowns, the staff have gone above and beyond to entertain the residents. I feel very lucky to have found Sutton Lodge and would have no doubts recommending it to anyone looking for a safe, caring, happy environment for a loved one.

Very impressed with the staff at Sutton Lodge, couldn't believe they have a Bar and a Café.
With Covid, things are difficult, but they have gone out of their way to help.
My mum had to isolate in the hospital for two weeks, then she moved to Sutton Lodge, and although Mum had to isolate here,
they let us meet through the window because this was upsetting Mum and her mental health; we were very grateful.

They provide excellent care for my mother in a friendly and pleasant environment engaging with the residents and always providing them with stimulating things to do. The onsite pub and tearoom are lovely places for a visit with Mum with a nice cuppa and cake well organised by the lady in there.

Mother has recently moved to Sutton Lodge, from what we have been able to do and see is limited due to the Covid virus. We have found that staff and management are very helpful and treat Mum with a lot of care and respect.

After caring for my mum in her home, we had to make the decision to move her into a care home. She had been to daycare and had respite at Sutton Lodge so it made sense for her to move there as she knew the staff and surroundings. It was a hard decision to make but in the end the best. I always tell
everyone it gave her not only 2 extra years but 2 good years. The staff became part of her family and I can’t thank them enough for that. She was well cared for and looked really well. In the final weeks of her life, the staff were professional but caring towards my family and myself. I would not hesitate to recommend them. Well done everyone during these difficult times.

My mum has been at Sutton Lodge since January 2020, therefore just a couple of months before the lockdown. We had cared for Mum as long as possible at home but ultimately found ourselves in the awful position of moving her into residential care due to later stages of Alzheimer’s. This was one of the
most awful times, with many emotions, including guilt, fear, and having to learn to entrust mum into the care of somebody outside of the family. Fortunately, we had long enough prior to lockdown to be confident in the choice that we had made in Sutton Lodge. Throughout the last 10 months we have seen mum flourish in every area, undoubtedly supported through a routine, stimulation, the most attentive care, her feeling of and also being safe. The staff have not only supported Mum but been truly incredibly supportive to us as her family too. There is always lots of entertainment, lovely home-cooked foods, lots of handholding and fun, and genuine care.

My mother in law has been here over a year now and is looking so well. The staff are really friendly yet professional and tentative to her needs. There seems to be a lot of activities for them to take part in. Her room is lovely and homely especially with her own things in. The food looks great and
it has certainly done my mother in law the world of good as she has gained a few much-needed pounds. A hairdresser even comes in which is great, she has had some lovely cut and blow drys and even a perm! They have pets including budgies in an aviary outside, some parrots, a cat and have just recently acquired chickens. It is a great home from home place and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.

My mum has been there for about two years now and well, what a change in her, she is happier, healthier and always doing different things, not that she can remember, but I swear, she has not seemed this well in years! The staff are so very caring and look after her. They are always putting on different
activities which is so important to keep her mind active. Her room is lovely, she is always clean. I really could not have wished for a safer better place for my mum to be, than Sutton Lodge.

Fantastic care home with amazing staff; they all go above and beyond to make the residents happy. The food is of a very high standard, and so is the cleanliness.

Angela has joined our team in early 2023 as a registered care home Manager after having extensive experience as a home and area manager in the Notts/Dshire area. She has a wealth of experience in the care sector as a whole and is an expert in dementia care. Angela manages Sutton Lodge care home which has been awarded the converted Dementia Quality Mark.
