Beechville have exceeded our family's expectations. Staff give up their own time to take the residents on holiday. My aunt had her 100th birthday party and the home held a party that was brilliant. The family were welcomed, fed and entertained. The money for this was from fundraising. We really appreciated their efforts.

Attended my great-aunties 100th birthday celebrations on the 22nd and 24th August.
The staff were fabulous, especially the lady who organised the party for family and residents on the Saturday.

All the staff were friendly and treated the residents with respect. Everyone I met seemed very happy there and well cared for.

I attended my Aunt's 100th Birthday celebrations on Saturday, the foyer was decorated beautifully with balloons and flowers. Seats were reserved for relatives close to where my Auntie was sat in the place of honour. The food was delicious and plentiful. The entertainment!! well what can I say, Tom Jones, you are a star!. Well done to the events manager and staff for making it a special occasion.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review; I will ensure this is shared with all the staff in the home. I am aware that your Aunt had a wonderful day and the pictures that were taken shows that everyone enjoyed the entertainment which the Activity Co-ordinator worked so hard on.

The standard of care given to my father-in-law is very good. My husband and myself are very happy with all aspects of care, we are regularly updated and the communication channels are very good. Any concerns are addressed by staff and if there are any issues they are promptly rectified.

After visiting Beechville I knew mum would like it, a few weeks later we took her to visit and after 20mins she said yes.
After living away from Bolton (her quote it's like coming home) everything about the home is superb. The staff are kind, caring, cheery and so helpful. The activities with so much hard work put into them are great.

As a family we are happy but most of all mum is very happy. Thank you.

My mother, who has Alzheimer's, was resident at Beechville from January to March 2019. This was her first move into a care home and we knew it was going to be a rough ride. We were initially impressed with Beechville and their claims to be skilled in dementia care and experienced in managing difficult transitions. Unfortunately, my mother didn't settle and became physically aggressive towards staff. Beechville decided immediately that they couldn't meet her needs and tried to push her out. I accept that my mother presented challenges and needed another home but the manner in which Beechville's management handled the situation was appalling. I have made a formal complaint to the parent group the MHA, who have acknowledged their failings and I hope they will learn from this. Beechville is probably very good at looking after 'easy' residents but I question their categorisation as a dementia specialist home. If your relative is going to find a transition difficult, look elsewhere.

Reply from Natalie Ward, Area Support Manager at Beechville

Thank you so much for taking the time to complete a review for Beechville. I'm so sorry that the experience you had of Beechville was less than positive. Beechville Care Home does pride itself on being a Dementia specialist home. I would like to add that all of us at Beechville hope that your mother has settled in to her new home and is happy and well.

I wanted to give a special mention to the Activities Manager at Beechville for organising the recent residents' holiday to Blackpool which included my father. The holiday took a great deal of effort to arrange and manage, and it proved to be a really enjoyable week away for all the residents involved. I joined the 'party' for a day during the week and saw first hand how much the residents were enjoying their week away. This kind of activity makes a real difference to the residents' lives. Many thanks to her for her enthusiasm and commitment, and to the other staff for looking after everyone during the week.

Thank you so much for your recognition of the dedication of the team to ensuring our residents enjoy their days inside and outside of Beechville. I will ensure that your kind words are passed on to everyone involved. We also feel very lucky to have the positive support of so many family members such as yourself.

I would recommend Beechville care home for its excellent care from the wonderful staff employed there. My father is cared for in every way. The food is good and varied and they cater for all tastes. His personal hygiene is excellent. There are varied and interesting activities organised by the brilliant Activities Co-ordinator. A brilliant Care Home.

Lovely bedroom with ensuite facilities. Clean and tidy in all areas.
Good entertainment and activities programme.
Limited parking on site for visitors.

Sometimes seem short of staff, especially at weekends.

Reply from Rachael Watson, Home Manager at Beechville

Thank you for you kind comments. I can assure you that the care staffing numbers within the home at the weekend are the same as they are during the week, however, you may find a difference in that the support staff are not generally in to answer the door etc. We have parking spaces to accommodate up to 25 vehicles which generally we find is sufficient.

I wrote a review in August 2016 and gave 5 out of 5. Now that my wife has been a resident in Beechville for a further 12 months the home is even better than before.

Since last year a new young and vibrant activities organiser has been appointed and she organises an extremely varied and busy schedule of events. These include outings, musical events, exercises and one to one chats with the residents.

The quality of staff remains excellent and they are very caring to the residents.

Well done Beechville.

My dad moved into Beechville two years ago, when vascular dementia meant he was no longer able to cope independently, and he has settled in extremely well. The staff are consistently caring and considerate, they treat my dad affectionately and respond well to him with humour, patience and understanding. I live 250 miles away, and I feel confident that he is in safe hands. The staff call me only when they have concerns about health issues. I can visit any time without needing to inform them. There is a wide range of activities and the atmosphere is always upbeat and positive, providing a good balance of lively enjoyment as well as periods of quiet and calm. Relatives and friends are always welcomed and are given a lot of support. We are also encouraged to participate but there is never any pressure to do more.

I would definitely recommend Beechville and am grateful to everyone there. My dad is very happy and enjoys a good quality of life with no worries or stress.

The staff are caring and treat the residents with respect. There is a training matrix for the staff in situ, covering aspects of Lifting and Handling, Health and Safety, Infection Control and Fire Evacuation, with some participation in NVQ training.
I view the staff as my husband's 'extended family' as he responds to them more than to me, which is good.

Beechville has an excellent Music Programme with group and one to one involvement. There is also a very active events programme to suit all levels of participation.

Beechville is a modern well designed home. All rooms are ensuite and a good size. There is a range of lounges - both small and large throughout the building.

The home also benefits from a dedicated chaplain and group of volunteers; I think this adds an extra dimension to the home, as they provide an independent and caring oversight, leading many activities. The home has a focus on both physical and mental well being. The Chaplin also provides support to relatives.

There is an excellent programme of activities, in fact, the best that I have seen at any home. The activities co-ordinator works hard at including all residents.

Above all the most impressive part of this home is the attitude and dedication to staff. As we walk down the corridor every member of staff greets my mother by name, and by staff, I mean 'all staff' including the kitchen staff, cleaners and admin staff. The staff are a very dedicated and impressive team it is clear that they care about the residents.

Mum moved into Beechville in July 2016. At first, she found it difficult to settle, but with the help of the wonderful staff is now happy and contented in her new home. She has begun to enjoy some of the wide range of organised activities and particularly looks forward to the weekly religious services and discussion groups run by the Methodist Chaplain. My wife and I are able to visit very regularly and always find Mum well dressed and groomed. Knowing how well she is being cared for and how much healthier she seems enables us to feel more relaxed and look forward to visiting. All her other visitors tell us how much better she seems and are equally impressed with the high standard of care they have witnessed.

Mum has been living at Beechville for three years. Over that time her dementia has progressed significantly. She is very happy at Beechville and always happy to return after a day out, which is very important to me. She is always greeted by staff who know her by her name and enjoys lots of kisses and cuddles from everyone. The food always looks really good and there is a very good choice. There is a very enthusiastic activities coordinator who tries to include everyone, whether it is by way of one to ones or group activities.
I can't ask for anything more than that mum is happy, has plenty of company and understanding care when needed.

Excellent, keep up the good work.

Mum has only been at Beechville for four weeks. The staff have been wonderful with her, they make her feel special as they do with all the residents. She has settled in really well and joins in the activities, which she loves.
