Overall Experience

After a terrible experience at a nearby care home last year, I was reluctant to book respite again for my husband. We were recommended Ashgrove House. From my first unannounced visit, I was welcomed in to view the home and I instantly knew it would be perfect for him. Immaculate and fresh throughout with a lovely family atmosphere. My husband had a months respite, everytime we visited him he was calm, relaxed and happy. Each member of staff were genuinely kind, caring and respectful. His condition is rare and unheard of by staff but it was evident they followed his care plan and were always interested to learn more. They met his needs everyday and shown real interest in life book which they all read. I can not thank everyone enough, it exceeded our expectations. We all felt part of the family. The food was lovely and fresh. All residents appeared happy, clean and smartly dressed and were treated with so much respect. Petting Ponies were an added bonus! We will be back for sure.

The care given to our grandma was excellent. On each visit, the staff were always helpful, attentive and approachable. The home itself was clean, and all the residents were well looked after. The care given to my grandma and our family on her final days was above and beyond. We are grateful they looked after her so well.

My father has been in Ashgrove House exactly 12 months. On the whole, I have found the staff and facilities to be more than satisfactory. Most of the residents have varying needs and various dispositions, and the staff meet the task with care and compassion.

My nana has been at Ashgrove since 2017 and I have visiting twice a week when able since around 2020. I have nothing but the highest praise. Ashgrove House feels likes a home and the residents are made to feel at home. The staff have been wonderful, and I have never had reason to doubt that my nana is truly cared for.

When I visit my mum, I often sit in the lounge with mum and other residents. I chat to quite a few of the other residents and have good conversations. I find if more activities were available it would stimulate them more and and be more rewarding for them.

Staff are kind, and work under challenging conditions with the residents.

As a family making the decision to moving my grandma into care was a very stressful and uncertain time for all, but Ashgrove have been nothing but welcoming and put is at ease knowing she will be well fed, looked after and safe.

Across all of the domains below, we are happy that all her needs are being met. I have filled this form with my grandma about her experiences. One thing she has asked is for more refreshments, sometimes this is missed in the afternoon, and my grandma loves nothing more than a cup of tea. Thank you, Ashgrove!

On the whole the care is good although on occasions more staff are required to meet the residents' needs. This has been addressed with management and hopefully these incidents will be few and far between. Residents personal belongings are not satisfactory, lost watches, mobile phones x3 in the wash, lost clothing.

The staff are professional and highly competent, genuinely kind, patient and compassionate people. They treat my mother with dignity and respect.
Communication has been excellent, and I'm always kept informed of my mother's well-being. The home itself is warm, clean and welcoming. It's clear that a lot of heart goes into creating a safe, engaging and nurturing environment.

When I visit, I see my mum relaxed, well cared for and treated with genuine affection. I would wholeheartedly recommend this care home to anyone looking for a place where their loved one will be truly cared for.

When dad first arrived at Ashgrove, he hadn't been walking for around three months, since being here around 4 weeks. He is now walking with the aid of a walking frame. The staff are very encouraging and help when needed.
