My nana has been at Ashgrove since 2017 and I have visiting twice a week when able since around 2020. I have nothing but the highest praise. Ashgrove House feels likes a home and the residents are made to feel at home. The staff have been wonderful, and I have never had reason to doubt that my nana
is truly cared for.

When I visit my mum, I often sit in the lounge with mum and other residents. I chat to quite a few of the other residents and have good conversations. I find if more activities were available it would stimulate them more and and be more rewarding for them.
Staff are kind, and work under challenging
conditions with the residents.

As a family making the decision to moving my grandma into care was a very stressful and uncertain time for all, but Ashgrove have been nothing but welcoming and put is at ease knowing she will be well fed, looked after and safe.
Across all of the domains below, we are happy that all her needs are
being met. I have filled this form with my grandma about her experiences. One thing she has asked is for more refreshments, sometimes this is missed in the afternoon, and my grandma loves nothing more than a cup of tea. Thank you, Ashgrove!

On the whole the care is good although on occasions more staff are required to meet the residents' needs. This has been addressed with management and hopefully these incidents will be few and far between. Residents personal belongings are not satisfactory, lost watches, mobile phones x3 in the wash,
lost clothing.
Reply from Simon Sumner, Director at Ashgrove House Care LtdGood Morning and thanks for your review .Just to adress the staffing we have 7 care staff and 2 managers daily at the home with other staff also trained in care and also activitie staff . so we are more than adequately staffed . The staff are professional and highly competent, genuinely kind, patient and compassionate people. They treat my mother with dignity and respect.
Communication has been excellent, and I'm always kept informed of my mother's well-being. The home itself is warm, clean and welcoming. It's clear that
a lot of heart goes into creating a safe, engaging and nurturing environment.
When I visit, I see my mum relaxed, well cared for and treated with genuine affection. I would wholeheartedly recommend this care home to anyone looking for a place where their loved one will be truly cared for.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.830)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.830) out of 10 for Ashgrove House Care Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.830 for Ashgrove House Care Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (393 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 465 Ratings = 4.83
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashgrove House Care Ltd is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
