Ashgrove House Care Ltd is a lovely, clean, friendly home, and my father has settled very well. He enjoys the interactions with the carers and the activities they do with him, e.g. painting, and he loves the children visiting the home from the local school. His room is very spacious, and his level of
care is second to none - excellent. I would definitely recommend this care provider.

Our mother has been in Ashgrove since July 2020. When our mother went into the home she was very unwell, thankfully we have seen her come on leaps and bounds due to the wonderful nursing care she receives from all of the staff.
the home is bright, clean and it's a pleasure to visit, our mother seems
to be well entertained with all the activities they provide. We are so glad we chose Ashgrove.

All our family are very happy with my mum's care at Ashgrove. They are very supportive and attentive towards her needs. They keep the family up to date with any issues. Ashgrove is clean and tidy and the staff are amazing and welcoming. Volunteers would help with extra activity support which we feel
would make Ashgrove outstanding.

My Mother entered Ashgrove initially as a respite patient after leaving Hospital. However, due to the excellent care and attention that she received during her stay, we made enquiries about her becoming a full-time resident, and Ashgrove were able to accommodate with her ongoing long-term care and needs.
Since arriving at Ashgrove we have seen my Mother flourish in her health, well-being and overall general mood. Myself and my family can’t praise Ashgrove enough for the way that the home not only presents itself but the care and attention that we have observed not only for my mother but the consideration that it affords to anyone visiting or residing within this home.

As a family, we had to make the incredibly difficult decision for my Dad to go into a home due to him having dementia. From the moment he moved into Ashgrove he was extremely well looked after during the 2 years he was there. The management and all the staff were kind, supportive, and professional at
all times with the family and with Dad. The staff take the time to know their residents and the facilities are good with nice rooms. It was my parents' Golden Wedding anniversary while he was in there and they accommodated us to have a little party for them within the home which meant a lot to us. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Ashgrove to anyone who finds themselves in the same position as we were. Dad passed away whilst he was in Ashgrove and the staff were so empathetic towards us and it was perfectly clear that they truly care for the residents.

My mum has been a resident at Ashgrove House for over three years and during that time Mum has been extremely well looked after by all the staff at Ashgrove who are so very caring, warm, and friendly. When my mum has been unwell the staff have let me know straight away and keep me informed of her welfare.
The staff go the extra mile and I feel they look after the resident's family as well when they have concerns. I am old enough to be a resident myself and I would not hesitate to be looked after by all the staff at Ashgrove. I know I would be very happy there.

My Dad has now been at Ashgrove for the last two years and is very happy there. During that time he has celebrated his 100th and 101st birthdays. The staff are all very friendly and look after Dad in the most professional and compassionate way and are very very patient. The manager and all the staff
are approachable and keep me informed of Dad's welfare. My family and I are so pleased he is getting the best care and help that he needs and would recommend Ashgrove 100%.

All I can say is this nursing home has been absolutely fantastic with our mum. It's always hard at first when you have to make the decision of them needing care you can no longer give, the management and staff made us feel welcome and reassured us our mum would be looked after and I have to say they
weren't wrong. The care she received was absolutely fantastic nothing was ever too much trouble for her or us as a family. The staff was so caring and met all her needs, the management was and are very approachable and communication was next to none, even during the pandemic we were kept up to date with government guidelines. I would without a doubt recommend Ashgrove to any family who are looking for exceptional care and quality for their parents and would say you know and feel assured they are being looked after 100%, thank you to all the staff at Ashgrove for all that you do for each and every resident in your care.

My Mum has Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia and two months ago she moved into Ashgrove House. It’s a hard decision to make on behalf of a parent but from the first conversation, the management team have been supportive and professional with me and my wife. From the moment Mum arrived at Ashgrove House,
she has been treated with care and respect. In no time she has settled in and it’s clear from talking to the team that they are really getting to know her and understand her needs. Mum is calmer because the Ashgrove team support her in all aspects of her day-to-day life. At the same time, she is more animated because she has company and people to interact with. She loves the food! Every member of the team is friendly and professional, they work very hard but there are always smiles and time for a chat. I am very happy with the care Mum is receiving in Ashgrove House.

My mother-in-law was a resident of Ashgrove House for around 18 months. From the 1st day, she was made to feel welcome and settled in well. The staff were friendly, kind, and very attentive. All her needs were completely met. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was tasty and nutritious. Her room
was cleaned and the communal areas were welcoming, bright and fresh. We definitely had peace of mind knowing she was well looked after in our absence. A huge thanks to all the staff who helped care for her.

Another lovely visit. Met with a warm welcome from the staff and management at Ashgrove House. They always take time to chat and let us know how my mother-in-law has been and what her day has been like. All the staff and management have been a total lifeline for her and the family, without their kind,
loving care and support my mother-in-law would not be here today. Every member of staff no matter what role they have always make time to chat with her even when her dementia fails her. They make sure she is comfortable and offer her encouragement so that she feels included in all aspects of daily life at Ashgrove House without causing her any anxiety or discomfort. They also respect her space when she feels she needs it. It's so lovely to see and hear her laughing and joking with staff and chatting about the new friends she has made. In her own words:- 'They feed me! Help wash and dress me! Entertain me and given me a nice room! It's a lovely hotel, no wonder it's always booked up!' Totally outstanding care.

I cannot praise or recommend Ashgrove and its caring staff highly enough. Like most people, I was extremely apprehensive about my dad needing support but we both knew he could no longer manage at home. Ashgrove was recommended to me by 2 different families independent of each other so I added it to
my list. Of the 9 local homes I researched, Ashgrove is head and shoulders above the others. From the moment I spoke to them they couldn't do enough, nothing is too much trouble, no question or request too silly. I could list the excellent facilities but you can read that online, it's the people that make this so fabulous and such a warm, friendly, caring place. The manager actually cares about both her residents and her staff. Everyone goes over and above, one member of staff, in particular, has been exceptional, she has gone the extra mile on everything. Other members of staff, and others whose names I've not had a chance to learn, have all been amazing. At no point have I thought this is just a day's work for anyone.

My dad was looked after extremely well by all the staff at Ashgrove. He stayed there for 9-months; he was happy there. He needs nursing care now, and I have hated taking him out. The rooms are well kept, bright and clean. The food is outstanding. My dad is a very smart man, and all the staff kept this
up for him. Nothing is too much trouble for the manager, who goes out of her way to make my dad as happy as could be under the circumstances. Best care home provider, thank you to you all.

My Mum was admitted to Ashgrove House in late September 2020; she was 87. She sadly passed away on June 28th, 2021. From the outset the staff were welcoming and accommodating not only to my Mum but also to us as a family, Mum's room was dressed and decorated as she wanted it. (Thanks to a member of
staff in particular and the janitorial team) My Mum found mobile phones difficult so we phoned the home twice a day to chat to her. On each and every call, the staff were pleased to hear from us and gave us an update as to her needs, moods, wants, and medical conditions. The staff are experienced and highly skilled in dealing with the elderly and infirm. Bespoke care is given and given with devoted care. Thanks to all the team including housekeeping and those who looked after Mum (and supported us too).

My mum was admitted to Ashgrove House Care due to her not completing her rehabilitation after breaking her hip in February 2020. Mum contracted Covid-19, not at Ashgrove House Care but while in an NHS rehabilitation. The management and staff at Ashgrove House Care became our extended family and we trusted
them one hundred percent with the care they provided for my mum. Unfortunately, we were unable to visit my mum from when she moved in in April 2020 until June 2020, when the government lifted restrictions slightly but that was in the garden. For the past three months throughout 2021, we have been able to visit my mum in her bedroom, under the government guidelines. The staff have been amazing with my mum and with us, so supportive. They made Christmas and her birthday so special. While mum could, she loved joining in with activities and the singalongs. It has a family vibe to it which my mum was so used to. As a family, we can’t thank them enough for everything they have done for our mum.

My Grandma was a resident at Ashgrove House Care from April 2020 until her passing at the end of May 2021. Grandma was moved to Ashgrove House Care from an NHS rehabilitation home and instantly felt at home at Ashgrove House Care, which was a great comfort to me and my family. 2020 was a hard year for
everyone but Ashgrove House Care made it as happy as it could be for us as a family. The staff would always take the time to sit with Grandma when we used to face time her as we were unable to visit her in person. They sent us pictures of her doing activities and on popular holidays such as Easter and Christmas, always made us feel like we were with her. When we are able to go and visit in her room, Mum and I couldn't believe how homely it was and how they had displayed pictures on her drawers that we had given them. They were like an extended family to us and we put our trust in them one hundred and ten percent in taking care of our darling Grandma. The staff were so supportive as Grandma deteriorated and we will be forever grateful.

The home is welcoming, friendly and cheerful. The residents are very well looked after, and their individual needs met wherever possible. Visitors are made welcome and visiting times very flexible. The property is easily accessible for visitors and residents and is well maintained. There is a good-sized
car park and a small garden to the rear, which is secure for safeguarding purposes. We have been extremely happy with the care and facilities provided at Ashgrove House.

Mum has dementia but was fiercely independent. When she suffered a serious fall at home we had no option but to find residential care. The hospital said it was highly unlikely that she would walk again. Last week I saw her 'dance' and sing to 'New York, New York' - Amazing! A result of the treatment
and attention she has received at Ashgrove House! We chose Ashgrove House because safeguarding was good and, because of the stability and excellence of staffing. The staff at Ashgrove House display that they invest in their roles and put the residents at the heart of everything they do. Mum is treated, not just with respect and dignity, but with real warmth, care and time given to meet her needs.

Before Mum went to Ashgrove we, as a family, tried very hard for several years to keep her at home but found that even with the help of carers it all became too much, especially for my dad, who was her main carer. It was a heartbreaking decision but it quickly became apparent it was the best thing we
could have done - for both her and Dad. Mum received not only excellent professional care but love and patience. In the days before she passed away, their care and love for Mum was evident - they could not have been kinder to us too, making sure we had plenty of tea and a shoulder to cry on. We were at her side until she passed away peacefully.
We cannot express our gratitude to the staff at Ashgrove for taking such great care of Mum.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.830 for Ashgrove House Care Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (393 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 465 Ratings = 4.83
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashgrove House Care Ltd is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
