The registered manager and staff team at Heywood Court Care Home were exemplary in the care and support my father received while a resident. They take time to get to know and understand the needs of residents and work with them in a way that gets the best out of them.

Heywood Court Care Home has provided a high standard of care to my mum over the last 4 years. During this time her needs have increased but the staff are so patient and caring, ensuring she is well looked after and always informing me if there are any concerns. She enjoys her food and there is a great
deal of variety on the menus. Activities are organised and are available to those who want to take part. The home is clean and welcoming. I have no hesitation in recommending Heywood Court.

We’ve found the care home to be very good for all my brother's needs. He seems well looked after and seems more settled now in his new room. He looks presentable when we collect him to take him out for the day, also arrangements to visit him in the care home are easily arranged so everything is good.

The home is clean and safe for residents whilst remaining homely and welcoming. Staff are well trained and very responsive to residents' needs in a timely and sensitive manner. All staff appear genuinely happy in their work and committed to making the lives of those they care for the best possible.
I have been most impressed with the communication from the manager and other staff members. I cannot praise them highly enough and we have peace of mind knowing our loved one is cared for with dignity and respect.

My wife has been at Heywood Court for nearly 4 years, if I thought she was not being looked after she would have been moved. It is run as a family and has the atmosphere of a family. Both residents and visitors are made to feel at home.

Dad was diagnosed 6 years ago and is now late-stage Alzheimer's. Mum and I trouble-shooted every change, deterioration and crisis during that time, determined that he would stay at home. December 2020, a bad fall at home, hospital admission and discharge to Heywood Court for assessment upset us all
greatly - but it quickly became apparent that, unexpectedly, Dad was actually settling in here. We had to admit that he seemed genuinely happy, calm and content - possibly more so than he had been at home of late. He liked and trusted the staff, and could use the expansive, secure ground floor and outside courtyard area to potter around remotely supervised (more freedom than we could risk at home). He became a permanent resident. Staff know us by name and any issues are worked through together. Dad's always smartly turned out and clearly enjoying his meals! We can tell he feels safe and secure here, and know he enjoys a joke with the staff. Mum and I are satisfied that this is a good place.

The care my father receives is great, and he is always happy when I see him and very settled. All the staff know him by name, and the staff are very good. There is no turn over of staff; they all seem to have worked there a long time, so he sees familiar faces at the home.

Mum had a real fear of care homes, but in the two months she has been in Heywood Court, she has flourished. She had to go in for respite care, and was so happy she asked to stay there. At 103, she needs a lot of care, staff have been so caring at this difficult time, as I can't go in to see her, or
her room. I rely on what she tells me, and the way the staff keep me informed. The relief Mum is being so well cared for and is happy is tremendous. Thank you.

My mum has been living at Heywood Court Care Home for 18-months and has always had excellent care. The staff are happy and helpful. Mum enjoys any activities provided. She is also eating far better than in her own home. Likes the meals and they get drinks and snacks every couple of hours.

The staff look after my grandma really well, and they make everyone feel welcome. They are all so friendly and make the residents happy, and they do lots of activities with the residents to keep them busy. They take the residents on day trips when they are able to, and they really enjoy those trips.

My grandma is a resident at this home and the care received from the staff is second to none. They have shown patience and great care to my grandma and provided excellent communication whenever needed. They are always welcoming when we visit with our young children and even during covid when visits
have not been allowed, they have been supportive and kept in contact to update the family and done video calls when able. Thank you to all the staff for your hard work.

All the staff I’ve ever met at Heywood Court have been helpful and cheerful.
I know it must be a difficult job and funding, I’m guessing, is always low. However, the staff do their best in the circumstances, especially considering the recent global pandemic. They have helped whenever necessary.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2002

Michael McPherson has been dedicated to social care since 1999, progressing from domiciliary care to various roles in a care home environment. He became a home manager in 2006 and joined Heywood Court in 2018. Michael values the importance of building strong relationships with residents and their families and finding great satisfaction in making a positive impact.


Outside work, Michael is a father of two and grandfather to eight, including two grandchildren with autism. He enjoys watching sports and playing golf in his spare time.
