Our mum has recently been newly introduced to the residential care system, so you can only imagine our anxiety as she has always been fiercely independent. However, we have had nothing but immense support, and despite the current UK situation, we are completely satisfied with all that our choice of the care home has provided. Thanks to all the staff and management!

The staff are caring and considerate to mum's needs. They are approachable and helpful if we have any concerns. Mum is well cared for and is happy.

I am very dissatisfied with the service and the explanation for the trying things that happened in this home. There are several reasons. An inadequate explanation for injuries, missing personal items and disgraceful care of my mother's personal hygiene. I will take this further.

When Mum first went to Heywood Court in January 2017 we were pleasantly surprised by the bright inviting interior and her room was large, en-suite and welcoming. The staff put us all at our ease. We had been told by medical professionals that Mum required 24-hour care due to her decreasing mobility and dementia.

Throughout that time Mum was treated with warmth and respect and made very comfortable. The staff have always been very welcoming to us as a family and responded straight away to any concerns we may have had.

Mum has recently had a difficult time having been taken to hospital and her condition worsened. On her return to the home, the staff have been wonderful as usual, keeping us fully informed of Mums progress to better health and doing whatever they could, be it special dietary requirements or adjusting to her increased care needs.

Our minds have been put at rest knowing Mum is being looked after so well and we as a family are happy we chose Heywood Court for Mum.

My mother went into this care home for three days respite. I did not attend the daily services but on collecting my mother she looked well and apparently enjoyed her stay, especially the food and made a couple of friends.

Heywood Court is a breath of fresh air as far as homes go. You always see the negatives about care homes on TV and in the news papers but they should do more programmes on homes like this one. It's a lovely place to visit, my gran always looks her best and happy, she gets her brandy just like she would have at home. The staff are lovely and nothing is ever too much trouble, it's clean, airy and always smells nice. Gran has even put weight on since being there so that says a lot as there aren't many foods she likes. I would definitely recommend Heywood Court.

After viewing a lot of other homes in Heywood, and after being in Heywood Court for less than a minute I knew it was perfect. It smells lovely, the atmosphere is happy and I instantly felt at ease. The people in the home all looked happy and seemed to be doing something even if just singing along to music. The home was clean and the staff definitely made us feel welcome, my father moved into the home and myself and the family have never looked back. Amazing care. The home manager and the staff team are very knowledgeable and seem to really know their residents, it's such a lovely home.

On entering Heywood Court you immediately get a feeling of confidence - it is clean, light and spacious. The staff are always very welcoming. The fact that you are treated as an individual and not a statistic is extremely comforting. The welfare of the residents comes across as very important to the staff and is shown in the respect and dignity given. Any queries or concerns are sympathetically and efficiently dealt with which is very reassuring and the attitude of the staff is great.

Satisfied with all round care and staffing. Disappointed to learn of 7.9% increase in cost from 1st Feb 2017. Costs outlined in letter of 16th Dec 2016 come to 5.0% not 7.9% which is the increase quoted. Increases itemised;
3.6% day to day costs
0.5% apprenticeship levy (not until April 17)

0.99% inflation.

How can it be right that a privately funded resident pays £100 or more per week than the government/social service pay for their clients for the same service?

We had not had a pleasant experience with the care home my mother-in-law was in so we were wary about putting my mum in one. We have not been disappointed with Haywood Court. There is always sometimes going on and the staff are always present. The home is always clean and tidy with no lingering odours. We have been satisfied with the care mum ahs received.

I have found Heywood Court to be a care home where dementia sufferers are safe and well cared for by dedicated staff who have the wellbeing of the residents of paramount importance, they find time to happily chat and where necessary to comfort to keep up the spirits of those they care for. The home is well run, hygienic warm and welcoming with a happy atmosphere where the residents look clean and neat in appearance. Family members and visitors are encouraged to make any comments through an open door policy.

Review from Cath L (Friend of Resident) published on 27 June 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I visit my friend at various times on different days. There never seems to be any activities going on and residents are just sat staring into space. The film Mama Mia was on 4 times in a day repeated every day for a week one week which I feel is a little unsatisfactory. I feel that a lot of the home's focus is on the interior and how the home looks rather than activities for the residents and focusing on how to make the residents' day a lot happier. The decoration seems to be tailored for the staff rather than the elderly people who live there. I would say that the food and drink seems to be OK.

Heywood Court provides a homely environment, it's clean and provides different rooms for residents to experience alternative environments, e.g TV, quiet and music. Staff are very helpful and efficient professionally and they're all personally warm and caring and adapt their behaviour to individual residents characters. The rooms are spacious and the food is varied plentiful and of a good standard. I have complete peace of mind that my mum is being cared for and efforts made to make her happy!

Heywood Court is the first care home I have attended, I have nothing to compare it with. The first thing, all the staff were very pleasant - had time to have a little chat in the corridor.
I saw a cleaner cleaning behind the pipes with a cloth doing a thorough job, I thought the rest of her cleaning must be spotless.

When I first went there it felt a nice place to be but when my husband was due to come home the place seemed to have lifted up a standard. I could not put my finger on it but it seems better than at first - hope this is what you require.
