Shepley House is easy for visitors to enrol and leave but residents cannot leave. It is very well kept and has a very pleasant atmosphere.
Staff care about each other, the residents and their visitors. They look after the safety of the residents as well as their health and wellbeing.
The entertainment
is enjoyable and approachable for the needs of the residents and brings back their past memories.
The garden is well looked after and easily accessible to both residents and their visitors (weather permitting).

I have visited my relative twice a week since he became a resident and I am very impressed with the care and attention afforded to those unfortunate people.
They include bingo, musical entertainment, games, visits to garden centres, tea dances, etc.
The menu is varied and well served.
All in all,
I think the staff at Shepley House are the best.
Constant medical checks, hairdressers, manicures, etc.
Excellent.

All carers are understanding and helpful with my father's condition. There are lots of helpful activities and events to keep them occupied and interested in everyday life whilst allowing them to decide if they want to participate.

My mother has been resident at Shepley House since June 2018. We visited a number of care homes and were impressed with the cleanliness and general feel of the property, particularly the garden which has been a great asset throughout the lovely summer we have had. The staff have been great, especially
the lady who organises entertainment and trips out. So far mum has been to Southport, Chester Zoo, local parks and garden centres. There are regular events organised such as singers, dancing etc which everyone seems to enjoy. The lounge which my mum uses is bright, spacious and airy. The food seems good and served in all the lounges which makes it more private for the residents who can eat in small groups.

I visit my friend twice a week at different times and days. The home is very clean, no smells. The activity organiser does an excellent job and the residents enjoy the singer when he/she comes in the afternoon. Also, the trips out are very good and various other activities such as bingo. The staff are
caring and kind.

The care the home provided for my Mother, who was confined to her bed after a bad fall, has been without a flaw. The staff and management are excellent and any request I asked of them they carried out without delay. The facilities are bright and cheerful with plenty of activities and catered for residents
who had the opportunity to use them. Staff and management are very helpful considering the extremely difficult tasks they have to perform. In conclusion, I could not have been more pleased with the care they provided.

My adorable mum spent the last few months of her life at Shepley House. I visited her every day and couldn't have been happier with the excellent management and amazing carers at this home. Nothing was too much trouble. I wish I could mention names in this review because my mum was so well loved by
the staff and management here. I really can't thank them enough for making my mum so comfortable, each and every staff member has a heart of gold and are so welcoming. I will continue to visit Shepley House because I've made some great friends there and it was always a pleasure to visit them and my mum. Without mentioning names I will always be eternally grateful for your warm, friendly and caring nature, not to mention the professionalism with which everyone carries out their duties. The rooms and communal areas are spotlessly clean. There is a heartwarming warmth as soon as you walk in. Every one of the staff know how happy my mum was, so once again thank you all so much you are true superstars.

Shepley House is an excellent professional and caring home.
The carers certainly deserve their name as nothing is too much trouble for both residents and visitors.
There are activities each day and also excursions which many residents seem to enjoy.
I would certainly recommend Shepley House to any
other family or friends.

My mum has been resident at Shepley House for the last three years. Her care during this time has been excellent, the staff are friendly and thoughtful. They deal with my mum in a professional manner and always treat her with respect. If there are any issues or concerns these are dealt with in a timely
fashion by the staff and management.
The standard of food is excellent and there is always plenty of choice.
Recently an activities officer has been employed at the home. This now means that activities are arranged on a daily basis which is a very positive move. This new member of staff is full of energy and enthusiasm and does an excellent job. It was my mum’s birthday recently and a singer was brought in to entertain her and the residents. My mum loves to sing along and despite her Alzheimer’s disease, she knows all the words to the songs. The kitchen staff also baked her a cake.
My mum is happy at the home and I am also happy with the level of care she receives.

Excellent support from all staff who are caring. Food is excellent. My husband has been a resident for 6 months now and he is very happy and settled. The activities coordinator works very hard to provide many varied and stimulating activities including Chinese culture with Chinese New Year being celebrated.

My mother in law is happy and content in the home.
She is enjoying herself in the activities they encourage her to do.
She is eating well and seems physically fitter than she has been for a number of years.
The staff are friendly, helpful and caring and there is a good atmosphere.
The new management
team seem to be making some positive improvements.
Well done and keep going!

Our mother came into this care home in November 2014. She settled in well and is very happy here. This was a huge relief to her family. During this time we, her family, have witnessed some changes but more recently there was a change of manager. She has definitely brought new life and ideas to the home.
An example of this is that all the resident's doors now look like proper house front doors with letterboxes. The activities in the home are often varied and run exceptionally well by a very kind and enthusiastic lady. The staff, carers and management are all very capable and excellent at coping with the challenges they face at dealing with the needs of the residents.

It was the first time we have used respite care for Mum. Everyone in the team were friendly and made us and Mum feel welcomed at our initial assessment.
Mum was looking forward to going into Shepley whilst we were away, and it gave us peace of mind too.
We spoke to Mum everyday and when we returned
home and picked Mum up, she had said how well cared for she had been.

Thank you to all the staff. Mum is staying again in May, and she is looking forward to seeing everyone again.

The review for my mum was carried out in a very friendly caring manner. My mum has alzheimers, however, she was still included in all conversations. The social worker, assistant and the care home officer were all talking to mum which made her relaxed and she enjoyed the review. All aspects of my mum's
care were explained fully to my brother and myself. After the review we left feeling confident that our mum was in a very safe and caring environment which we feel may also broaden our mum's ability for the future.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.837)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.837) out of 10 for Shepley House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.837 for Shepley House is calculated as follows: ( (248 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 288 Ratings = 4.837
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Shepley House is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
