I am pleased to say that each and every time I visit Fir Trees, the staff are very pleasant and are constantly engaging with all the residents. They offer an abundance of reassurance by speaking to them with respect and holding their hands should they need a little TLC. The staff are always keen to
give me an update on my dad when I phone. Well done to the manager and all the staff at Fir Trees for making my dad feel comfortable, safe and a valued resident.

I moved my dad to Fir Trees to be near family as he has lived in Wales for the past thirty years. His wife (my step mum) had also recently passed away. My dad has settled really well and everybody has been so kind and made him and us, as a family, very welcome. All the staff look after him and nothing
is too much trouble. He especially likes the cakes and puddings.

I was wary of putting my gran in a care home after hearing so many horror stories but knew Fir Trees would be different from our first visit. The home is extremely clean, the staff are warm and welcoming and can't do enough to help gran. She is happy and well looked after and it's so lovely to see her
happy face when I visit.

Both my mum and dad were residents at Fir Trees. Unfortunately, my dad passed away in August and all the staff were brilliant through that difficult time. I cannot praise all the carers enough. They took my mum to dad's funeral and cared for her throughout. Thank you all at Fir Trees.

Whilst our Mum's admission to Fir Trees was very sudden, due to her husband and main carer dying unexpectedly, she has settled very well.

This can only be attributed to the amazing team of staff who look after her with dedication, professionalism and above all a caring approach.

Nothing is ever

too much trouble and has always given us the utmost confidence that in our absence she is in the safest of hands.

Her stay up to this point has not always been smooth, with her requiring hospitalisation when she developed sudden heart failure. When she was eventually discharged, she had lost a great deal of weight, developed a huge sacral pressure sore and lost her mobility. However, as a direct result of the amazing care and attention, as well as the lovely food she has received from the staff she is now back to her original mobility and her pressure sore is healed.

I asked our mum for her opinion, to which she replied, "they can't do enough for me".

My dad had to go into a care home. I didn't want him to but he had Vascular Dementia and I was finding it very hard to cope at home. From the moment I went to view it, I knew this was the one. I was greeted and shown around, the staff were so friendly, so I agreed! Hence dad went in 17th February 2022
.. he had eleven fabulous weeks there, they looked after him like he was one of their own family, right from getting up to going to bed.

The meals were excellent nothing was too much trouble to ask for. As dad's Dementia progressed his meals had to be done special, and once again fabulous. If dad wanted a lie in then he would have a lie in every resident is treated the same. This care home let me become his daughter for eleven weeks and not the carer with whom I was at home. My dad absolutely loved the staff and had many a joke with them. Unfortunately, Vascular Dementia got the better of him and dad passed away very peacefully on 10th May 2022. I thank them so much.

My grandad moved into this home a couple of months ago. The management and staff have been brilliant and reassured me. Its a really friendly home and has an inviting feel to it. My grandad brought me up so he is like a dad to me so it means a lot that I make sure he receives the care he gave me. I would
highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a care home. The manager and deputy manager take the time to answer any worries you might have before moving in.

After taking the heartbreaking decision to get a third-party involved in Dads care due to dementia we were directed to Fir Trees.
Dad has thrived whilst in their care. This is due to the care and dedication of the staff. Everyone knows Dads name there’s always a kind friendly face guiding him through
his day. The staff are also very accommodating.
Dad has a homely spacious ensuite room with a TV which he can come and go to as he pleases.
The communal areas are always clean and tidy. Dad enjoys the lounge room where he is able to take part in the activities.
There is a garden to at Fir Trees which is a big plus for Dad as he loves being outside.
The management team are always willing to listen and do their utmost to help and put the family at ease with any concerns. A visit is only a phone call away.
Fir Trees allows us to be daughters again and has given Dad an extended family that can be there 24/7 for that we thank them.

My mum was a resident at Fir Trees care home for 5 weeks short of 5 years when she passed away peacefully at the home on the 6th of October. Throughout mum’s time at the home, her care was to the highest standard, staff was always showing empathy, polite and professional at all times. Mum’s bedroom
was always spotlessly clean, bright and airy as are all areas at Fir Trees i.e. dining rooms, communal lounges, etc. As mum’s dementia progressed, I was always kept informed on how things were going, if I had any questions regarding her health there was always somebody available to put my mind at rest either in person or on the phone. Fir Trees was recommended to me by a friend whose mum is a resident there still, everything she told me about the home has proven to be right, it is a hard decision when a parent has to go into permanent care but when you know they are being looked after by a kind, dedicated, experienced team, it makes decision a whole lot easier and you have peace of mind.

I must confess to feeling very uneasy when it first became obvious that my dad needed professional care, which my family and I were no longer able to provide. The press loves to report horror stories whenever it can, and I imagine they spin them to suit. However, from the first moment Dad went into
Fir Trees, he was cared for and made to feel valued beyond anything I had expected. Of course, his medical needs were met without question or complaint, but not only that, his social and community needs were met and he was given a tremendous sense of belonging there. Every member of staff made him feel they were delighted to meet him and look after him, not just the care staff, but so did the cleaners, laundry folks, kitchen staff, in fact every member of staff.

I would recommend Fir Trees. My mother has been attending the Day Centre a for number of years. Mum, was always happy to attend, I could not fault the excellent care and attention Mum received from the staff at the day centre. When it became obvious that Mum needed full-time residential care. Mum was
fortunate to move into Fir Trees. My mum is thriving and has not looked so happy for a couple of years. The care provision is of a very high standard. Each and every one of the staff are truly dedicated to the residents. It is so reassuring to know my mum is safe, happy and content.

The Fir Trees is clean, warm and inviting. You can go in anytime and are always greeted with a smile and made to feel very welcome. I often ring twice a day if I haven't managed to get up and it's no trouble to the staff at all.
The care and attention they give the residents is outstanding from the
start of the day right through.
They treat everyone with great respect and understanding with patience. They are also there to support relatives, as times do get tough for me and they always help/support. First-class care all around.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.641)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.641) out of 10 for Fir Trees is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.766 for Fir Trees is calculated as follows: ( (136 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 175 Ratings = 4.766
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fir Trees is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
