A comfortable and friendly nursing home, where staff will go out of their way to help you and make sure that your relatives have everything they need and are well looked after.
All the staff are very approachable and listen to your concerns if you have any.
They try to accommodate you as best they can if you do have any concerns.
A modern nursing home, newly renovated and they try to give residents varied things to do to keep their minds and bodies as active as possible.

Meals are varied too and they do not mind if you take them in for your relatives.

The experience at first was complicated but with time, easier, as I knew the routine from day to day. When I got to know the staff and the routine, I was able to enjoy the routine better off. It was getting used to the routine of the place.

My mum started off at Sunnyside as emergency respite and 6 months later is still there. The staff have had a lot to take on as my mum's dementia progressively got worse, and they were all amazing with her despite the day to day obstacles they face with personal hygiene and getting her dressed. We, as a family, will be forever thankful to Sunnyside for helping my mum during her time there.

Rooms very good. Staff very efficient, cleanliness is very good. Lovely atmosphere about the place. Something going on every day. Very bright and breezy staff and deal with some very disabled people with great dignity.

It seems a great place to end your days.

My mum has been in Sunnyside for 18 months. The care staff are all lovely. Nothing is too much trouble. My mum feels very safe and is really happy. I would recommend anyone to use Sunnyside. I looked at a lot of different places for my mum and it is very hard to make a decision about care, but I am glad I chose Sunnyside. Once again, thank you to all the staff for keeping my mum happy.

Mum spent a week here for respite care due to work being carried out at her home. Overall the care she received was adequate but we did have cause to complain about two occasions in relation to her not being taken to the dining room for her supper and when she hadn't been given a bath until her 4th day there, despite us requesting this and being told it would be done the day after admission. Other concerns were related to the length of time it took for staff to deal with her as she required, especially when the staff were due to help with the hoist, at times it seemed that the home was understaffed? The staff themselves were always polite and pleasant and treated mum with respect, however, if we needed respite again we may look elsewhere as it wasn't what had been described during our initial enquiries.

This morning I had a severe accident and rang assistance and two carers appeared and provided excellent care. They were as thoughtful as they could possibly have been. I was and am incredibly appreciative and grateful.

Thank You.

Overall Experience

We entered my mum into this care home after my father sadly passed away. We were told some lovely stories about the staff and the care. However in the last 12 months my mum was here our views changed. We arrived on many occasions with a certain member of staff shouting at a resident. A resident was shouting for the toilet whilst 3 staff were sat around a table having a chat. My mum constantly needed a shave and cleaning, when I mentioned this to a deputy manager her reply and I quote was "I'll get one of the girls to do it because anything like that goes through me". The last straw came for us when we arrived at Sunday lunch and my mum was sat at the table not being able to feed herself properly with a cup of milk on its side on the plate and my mum using her fingers to eat mashed potato. Whilst you had 4 staff sat around a table eating their dinners.

Thank you for raising your concerns and we are very sorry if this was your experience. During the 12 months since your Mum lived in the home, Sunnyside has recruited an experienced new manager and deputy manager. We carry out regular monitoring checks to ensure that staff are working effectively...
