Overall Experience

My grandmother resided at Ashwood Residential Home for nearly 5 years. During this time sadly her mental and physical health significantly deteriorated. The care and compassion the management and carers shown to my grandmother and wider family was second to none. They supported her where others may have given up and looked for an alternative placement. Our family will be eternally grateful for the love, end of life care, professionalism, dignity, trust and compassion they gave. The staff do go above and beyond for their residents. Thank you to all at Ashwood Residential Home.

My mother- in law has been in Ashwood since June 2025. The care and respect she received was amazing. The staff are very caring and patient in all situations. We were informed of any medical changes or needs, immediately from the managers or District Nurse. When her health started to deteriorate she was put on end of life care, where once again we were informed of every move. She was most importantly, treated as a person, with dignity, love and respect right until the moment she passed away. The staff afterwards were amazing looking after us, the family, with love and respect.

My step mum has lived alone for the last 14 years since dad's passing, however the last 2 years have become ever more difficult for her as she physically weakened and vascular Dementia took a cruel hold of her. Reluctantly we had to accept hospital advice that she could no longer adequately look after herself and we would need to place her into care. Its a daunting prospect for any family to face with a loved one, but I have to say when looking for her next home, Ashwood shone through. From the superb management team, and through all the staff, this place feels like one big family home. Everyone knows everyone's name, and my step mum was treated as one of the family from the minute she entered the building. The knowledge and professionalism of the Manager and assistant manager was completely reassuring, and gave us complete faith that we had made an outstanding choice of home for our step mum to spend her last few years. Thanks to all the staff for giving us such peace of mind.

Mum has been a resident of Ashwood for almost a year. Initially it was for a 6 week respite stay but, when it came time to go home, Mum decided she wanted to stay. This was, in no small measure, due to the care and attention which she received. She had been reluctant to move out of her home but the level of care she received from all staff made her realise that she would be safer and happier at Ashwood.

The management team and all staff are kind and caring, providing a warm, family atmosphere. Communication with the family is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. It says a lot that many staff have been at Ashwood for many years. I can certainly recommend Ashwood.

Both of my in-laws have been cared for by Ashwood and we have found them to be consistently excellent in their standard of care. They were treated as individuals and their personal needs were recognised and provided for.

The staff are very kind and caring. The residents are all treated as individuals and made to feel special.

Staff turnover in the 12 months of my experience has been very minimal. Whilst the rooms are quite basic everything is very clean and if necessary the residents can furnish to their own requirements. Medical issues are dealt with as they arise and the management team have an excellent rapport with both the staff and the residents.

Ashwood is a real home-from-home for Mum who has been a resident for two years. It was always to be the family's 1st choice after our granny lived there happily for seven years. That was almost twenty years ago; many of the staff who looked after her are still there providing that same level of loving care to Mum. Nothing is too much trouble, communication with family is superb with Mum fully involved in any decisions relating to her care.

Ashwood is a cosy, friendly and homely setting with 1st class care.

My mum has recently been admitted to Ashwood as she has Alzheimer's and my father can no longer look after her. She has gone in against her will and has displayed some very difficult, challenging behaviour. The staff have been absolutely brilliant with her despite the aggression she has shown towards them. They have been excellent at keeping me informed and also in getting funding for extra one-on-one care for her during the night. They have been incredibly kind and thoughtful towards not only my mum, but also the rest of the family when we visit. I am extremely grateful that they are taking such good care of my mum during this very difficult time.

I couldn't write anything negative about Ashwood at all, the level of care for my dad was outstanding from before entry to when he was well enough to come home. The home was there for him whilst he recovered from a hospital stay, he got better quickly which I put down to the help from the staff. Always happy to talk or see to his needs, a family environment kept his spirits up.
Impeccably clean and hygienic, with top-notch standards.
My dad was the third member of my family to use Ashwood's services, this in itself speaks testament to the way Ashwood cares for its residents.

Highly recommended!

My grandma has Alzheimer's/vascular dementia and has had multiple recurrent admissions into hospital through falls and generally unwell. Since her last admission which resulted in a break to her wrist we got in touch with Ashwood Care and asked if any beds were available for temporary care due to ourselves struggling to manage Grandma's care at home. My grandma was transferred at the end of May/early June and remains a resident in the home likely to stay permanently. The staff and management at Ashwood are so kind and caring and have accommodated both my family and grandma in every way they possibly can. The staff have been so gentle, kind and caring towards my grandma who was very nervous and fussy going into the home but now loves all the staff and is very grateful for all their help they have and continue to give her. We would recommend Ashwood to any of our family and friends and are so grateful for the kindness and passion the staff provides daily.

Well, what can I say? My father needed respite care for four weeks as he needs full-time domiciliary care to give us a well-needed break. Management and the whole team met every need and made him feel extremely welcome as though he was family. Would highly recommend, felt very safe and reassured that my dad's needs were met. Thank you so much all.

My wife has been a resident of Ashwood Residential Care Home for the last six months and, during this time, has had a number of setbacks all related to her present condition; this she has overcome thanks mainly to the excellent staff and management who are brilliant, to say the least, in my opinion, they all go above and beyond the call of duty I could not wish for my wife to be in a better environment - they are truly brilliant.

The manager and her dedicated team regularly go above and beyond to keep my nan and the other residents safe and happy. There is always a caring and happy atmosphere, and we are kept fully informed in terms of safeguarding, well-being and social events. They have given my nan a home despite her having a complex history and some difficult behaviour. They handle her with good humour, and she is the happiest and safest she has been in years. There is low staff turnover and a genuine feeling that Ashwood is Nan's home, not just somewhere she is staying. They go the extra mile, allowing us to enjoy our quality time with her. Can't recommend the team enough.

Ashwood residential home. The place is a real home from home, full of fun and warmth. My dear friend was a proud and independent man. He was at the end of life and he needed 24/7 attention. The staff at Ashwood were excited to meet and care for my friend. He had a chuckle several times through the days.

The support the managers gave to us was exemplary. They were honest and empathetic. I would like other people to know, you could choose Ashwood with confidence that your loved one was safe and cared for. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

After mum spent 4 weeks at Ashwood last year it was always going to be my 1st choice of care home. Mum has recently been in a discharge bed for 5 weeks and the manager came out to assess her and immediately took mum back. She went back into Ashwood on the 15th October 22 the day after her assessment and her admission was so good she settled in straight away. I was so concerned about my mum's future but they reassured me in every way. Well done to the managers and all the staff.

My Dad went into Ashwood in September 2019 after having multiple falls at home, so he spent just short of 3 years in the home. I would like to thank everyone at Ashwood for the care, compassion, dignity and genuine love they showed to my Dad and us. The home is a genuine home from home, and we were always welcomed no matter what time of day. All too often the media use a brush and tar everyone with that same brush, and they always manage to give bad press. Ashwood is not like other homes, Ashwood is Ashwood, a genuine and caring environment for residents and family alike and you become one of the Ashwood family. Unfortunately, my Dad passed away on the 19th July but once again the management and staff showed such care, and compassion not only to my Dad but to us as well. Once again a heartfelt thank you to Ashwood.

On behalf of all the team, it is always lovely to hear that a client and their family have both received positive experiences with regard to their stay with us, even under the most difficult circumstances at times. The home's ethos has always tried to be a 'home from home'. The dedicated team works...

My mum was a resident at Ashwood between Nov 19 until Dec 2020. From day one all the staff not only made mum welcome but the family also. I can't praise the staff enough for the care they provided. As soon as you walk into Ashwood you have a reassuring feeling, as it really feels like a home from home. Nothing is too much trouble and someone is always on hand for a chat should you need one. Very quickly you think of the staff as friends. In my view, if you want the best care for your relative then visit Ashwood I can't recommend them enough.

Thank you for the lovely review. On behalf of myself and all the team, it is greatly appreciated that relatives are able to feel reassured and I know all the staff will be grateful that you considered Ashwood like 'Home from Home'. In our opinion that is is the ethos the home strives for daily.
