When deciding on a care home for my Mum which was suitable for her, I found that Ashwood Care Home would be the perfect place for her. It was so friendly and homely. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that my Mum had the very best care I could have wished for her throughout her stay there. All the staff were extremely professional, but at the same time, very caring. When she was tested positive for Covid in December and became very poorly, it was decided that Mum was to stay in her care home where she was more comfortable and where the staff cared for her with the utmost professionalism. Hospital admission was out of the question. I was most grateful and thankful that this decision was made, as the Management made it possible for me to visit her at end of life. Even if it was in full PPE, I was able to talk to her and say my goodbyes. Mum passed away on Christmas Day 2020 and I was able to be with her at that time, which I am most grateful for.

Thank you for the lovely review. We do understand it was a difficult time for you and all your family. We are grateful that you allowed your mother to remain with us, until her passing, and have the continuity of all the team around her with whom she was familiar. We are glad this gave you comfort.

My Mum was in Ashwood care home firstly for respite care numerous times then, she subsequently became a full-time resident. The care she received was second to none. The staff go out of their way to make this an enjoyable, comfortable and above all a very caring experience/life for them. During the Covid 19 pandemic, the residents' care and safety have been of the utmost importance to all staff whilst retaining good communication with family to whom they also show understanding and care. We as a family would not hesitate to recommend anyone who has a loved one needing residential care to Ashwood. We would like to thank all of the staff particularly the Manager and Assistant Manager.

Thank you for the lovely review of the care and dedication the staff have shown throughout the Covid 19 pandemic. It is good for the morale of the team to be appreciated in very difficult and testing times for a job well done.

I can’t praise the management and staff enough. My auntie was a resident for over eight years and the care provided for her and the support given to relatives has been first class. I would definitely recommend Ashwood.

My wife is in for respite and care is first class. My mother was in for 5 years. The home could not be faulted. My wife came out of hospital with a broken arm and a fractured pelvis. I did not hesitate to put her in Ashwood over other choices.

Mum as been in this care home for approximately 4 years and she has been really well cared for. The managers and staff are lovely and always make the family feel welcome no matter what time we go to visit. Even though Mum gets upset sometimes they always find time to sit with her and comfort her. I have called at times when food as been brought out and it looks and smells delicious and Mum always comments on how good it is and how well the carers look after her. It is a comfort for me knowing Mum is in good hands and being well looked after.

We, as a family, can’t say enough great things about this care home. The staff are everything you could hope for when looking for exemplary care for a loved one. Our grandma and nanna is well looked after, from her physical, psychological and medical needs to entertainment. We are always informed when there are any medical issues. Our grandma always says how well looked after she is, frequently mentioning how good the food is. The staff have the personal, down to earth touch and you can see the warmth in the way they care and carry out their duties. We, as a family, are always offered a cup of tea when visiting. Regarding visitation during the pandemic and lockdown periods, staff have been very considerate allowing socially distanced garden visits (when allowed) or allowing us to speak through conservatory windows being opened so we can hear each other. We’re treated like family and we are very grateful for that. We definitely made the right choice choosing this care home.

My mother was a resident at this care home for 2 years. She loved the activities provided, in particular the singing and dancing. I was impressed with the standard of care provided and the individual attention she received. My mother was treated with dignity at all times. My mother passed away on 10 September and I was impressed that the manager of the care home took the time to attend the funeral.

My father went to stay at Ashwood for respite after being in hospital. He liked it that much that he decided to stay there permanently. The staff were considerate and understanding and nothing was too much trouble. The manager was always only a phone call away and went above and beyond. My father loved the food served at the home too.

Following a fall in 2019, Mum (who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s earlier in the year) spent 8 weeks in Ashwood for respite care. Earlier this year when she was no longer able to live at home safely, and the decision to move her into a care home was forced upon us, there was never any doubt that Ashwood would be our first choice. The Manager was the first person that we contacted for advice. She guided us through the process, and when the time came to raise the issue with Mum, she was there personally to offer support and advice. Choosing a care home for a loved one is extremely difficult, but Ashwood isn’t any care home - it’s a family. The staff are the heart of this home, and they are nothing short of amazing. They provide regular updates and are always available to address any concerns or answer queries. The residents are treated with respect and dignity, but there is also laughter, fun and friendship. We couldn’t imagine Mum anywhere else!

I wanted to let you know that my family have been very impressed by the kind compassionate care that all the staff at the Ashwood Residential Care Home have provided for my auntie. My auntie was provided with the highest level of care from June this year until she passed away on 1st September.
My auntie was diagnosed with terminal oesophagus cancer in June this year, she initially spent 3 weeks in another care home in Ashton, where she was very disappointed with the very poor care she was receiving. We were also shocked at the poor care she received. She pleaded with me to try and move her.

Even though the care home is not registered as a continuous care home, the manager kindly accepted my auntie after an assessment. The kindness and care provided by the manager and her team has been really exemplary. Continuous visits to provide food and nourishment with kind, patient attention for all her needs has been provided night and day. Our family includes a retired senior nurse.

I would recommend the home for any relative. The care the staff show is 100% in every way. I wouldn't hesitate in using it again if I could. Every need is met for the residents and every possible thing is done to make them feel it is their home. Friendly staff and nothing is too much trouble. The manager reassures families on all needs re the resident and makes time for all. Can't praise them enough for all the support and help including aftercare and information. Thank you all.

Cant praise this place and the staff enough. Not only did they make my Dad so welcome but they took time to check we were ok too. Dad has improved so much in his time there, not only health wise but mentally too. First time in years that we have not had to worry about dad's diabetes as his blood sugar has regulated to averaging 5.6.

My mum went into Ashwood in early March of this year, this was after recommendations for the home from people who had had family previously in the home. I have, from the outset been very pleased with the care, attention and dignity that has been given to mum. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. The food provided is of good quality and I can say that my mum is happy and content at the home, this gives me peace of mind. I can recommend to anyone who is looking for a care home to take a look at Ashwood House, I’m sure you would not be disappointed.

If you are looking for mod cons and modern environment, don't bother. If you are looking for care and commitment in a homely environment, then this is the place. The rooms are of a good size and facilities are adequate. There is always something going on, be it a birthday celebration or just an excuse to party. My mum was a full time carer for my dad, but when it got too much for her we had to find somewhere that offered the same level of care. All I can say 'what a find'. If we have any concerns the management and staff are always there to listen and support.

My mother in law moved into Ashwood care home on respite originally in January 2017 following the sudden passing of my father-in-law, her main carer. Our original plan was for us to move in with her at her home address, however, the love and care she received by management and staff in that respite period was very reassuring.

On the week her respite was to end we thought long and hard and decided it was in my mother in law’s best interest to remain in the care of the staff at Ashwood care home.

The staff and management are extremely helpful and supportive of their residents and family members. Whenever we visit we are made to feel very welcome at all times, we know if we cannot visit we are reassured that she is safe and well looked after in every aspect.

Mum has been In the care of the staff and management of Ashwood care home for almost 2 years. I know that everyone In the team have her best interests at heart and ensure that she’s safe and well looked after, it has a relatively small number of residents which enables it to keep its homely feel. Overall when I have to leave I’m happy and content that she’s in a safe and loving environment.

My mum stayed there from 31/07/2018 until 14/08/2018 when she sadly passed away
I would just like you all to know that our experience at this home was fantastic, the staff worked endlessly looking, after all, my mum's needs.
Even the managers made time to make sure we was fed and watered
I have already recommended this home to everybody I have spoken to and will continue to do so.

Unbelievable how my mum spent her last 2 weeks in such comfort, I cannot thank them enough.

My relative was given a diagnosis of terminal cancer and due to the care he had received at Ashwood in respite he decided that he wanted to stay. He remains upbeat and is functioning well I am writing to you to express the exceptional standard of care and support shown by all staff to him, I believe that without this exceptional care he would not be here. We treasure every day we have left with him, he always has a smile on his face and the staff are very attentive to his needs, the manager of Ashwood has helped us in understanding all aspects of his care with compassion and understanding. All staff spend time talking to him despite the busy workload, they all demonstrate the care, warmth, and compassion which is essential in this type of work. I find nothing but praise Ashwood and the way they CARED for him. Ashwood has regained my trust in the care sector and has restored my faith in the system. I feel that Ashwood should be the standard for every other care homes in the area.
