My sister-in-law has been a resident since May 2022. We all feel very blessed that she is in such good hands at Acacia Court. The staff are wonderful and so cheerful at all times. We are relieved that she is happy and she tells us frequently how much she loves her room. Acacia Court is always spotlessly
clean and there is a warm and welcoming feel to the place every time we visit. She also tells us how good the food is! This is praise indeed as she worked as a chief catering manager for a large firm!
Reply from Lorraine O'Sullivan, General Manager at Acacia CourtHi Karen, thank you so much for your kind words. I will pass this on to the staff they will be overwhelmed. Your sister-in-law is a wonderful lady who has a very cheeky humour, we all love her. Kind regards, Lorraine.

Really happy that my Aunty is a resident here. She loves it. After a wobbly start, feeling unsettled, the team have made her feel at home. She has been there now for over a year and has a lovely room overlooking the garden. She has bird feeders on her balcony and loves watching them. She also enjoys
the large garden when the weather is warm. I cannot fault the staff. She is so well looked after. They are led by an amazingly positive and knowledgeable manager whose kindness and humour shine through.
Reply from Lorraine O'Sullivan, General Manager at Acacia CourtHi Suzy, wow, what a review. Thank you so much for your comments I will certainly pass this information on to them, they will be really overwhelmed. As you know I like to make all residents welcome and yes, I do like to have a laugh with them, I feel it makes not only their day but mine. A smile on their faces speaks volumes. Lorraine.

Mum went into Acacia in April, she has settled in well and seems to love the team. She is well cared for and always looks clean and tidy, she has her hair done, her clothes are well looked after and I know she is safe. The Manager keeps me up to date with anything and she has made new friends. Dementia
is a cruel disease but I know mum is safe in their hands. If possible and without too much disruption to mum, I would love she had a cosier room, although looking out with big windows it seems less homely and this is the only thing I would change. I know this may not be in mum's best interest now as she will have got used to her surroundings but if she can cope then if they had a room a little smaller it may benefit her as she does comment about it when we take her home for Sunday lunch every few weeks.
Reply from Lorraine O'Sullivan, General Manager at Acacia CourtHi Linda, thank you so much for your kind words, I will pass them on to the staff. As for a smaller room, I will speak to mum and see what we can do as and when a smaller room becomes available if this is what she would like. We are all here to ensure that all residents are happy and comfortable. Kind regards.

The team at Acacia Court are wonderful carers. They take care to understand the resident's needs and do the best they can to make sure everything is in place. The senior management team have the relevant experience and is always happy to discuss medication or events. The staff will ensure they communicate
if there is an issue and provide updates regularly. Also, they help me understand what might happen if there are issues relating to the condition. My view is that I am grateful my partner is in a safe environment.

My wife has been a resident for some 2 1/2 years and is well looked after by all concerned. It has been a difficult 2 years due to covid but despite this, Acacia Court has had very few cases due to the safety system. As things get back to normal I hope to see the return of more activities.
Reply from Lorraine O'Sullivan, General Manager at Acacia CourtHi Graham,

Thank you for your kind words. I agree it has been very hard over the past 2 years but as things start to change we hope this will be better for residents and loved ones. Activities have always been a strong point here at Acacia and we have carried on regardless. We are now encouraging outside activities to Acacia. We have a fantastic day coming up in May which I hope you can attend. I will pass on your appreciation to our staff as I know they will be overwhelmed. Lorraine

My father was admitted to Acacia Court a few weeks before the Covid lockdown last March. He was in for respite care after a fall and some broken bones. Due to Covid, Dad stayed at Acacia Court and thank goodness he did. After the fall his health deteriorated rapidly. The staff at Acacia Court have
been amazing and the manager is always super helpful.
Unfortunately, we've had to sell my father's house to support him and this was a very complex and onerous process. Every request I made to the manager to get the legal work completed was actioned with a smile.
My dad is very happy at Acacia Court and could not be in better hands. A big thank you to all the staff and management.
Reply from Lorraine O'Sullivan, General Manager at Acacia CourtThank you very much for your wonderful review, it is very much appreciated. The team at Acacia Court strive to work to a high standard to ensure your dad is happy and well cared for, and we are very pleased to hear your comments. Kind Regards Lorraine

Like most people, when the time came that mum needed far more care than could possibly be provided at home because of her dementia, the family were very concerned about how she would cope aware from her beloved home and in her state of confusion. We were delighted with the dedicated care and friendly
support that she received from Acacia Court. Updates were regular and phone calls in this time of Covid, always welcomed. The food, hygiene assistance and care made my mum refer to it as 'a lovely hotel' and we always knew that mum was safe. As we needed to plan 'end of life' care to bring mum out of hospital and back to Acacia Court, staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating taking over a good deal of the organisation at this most difficult time. Although the last 7 months have been particularly trying, without a doubt, mum being at Acacia Court was a great decision and our family would highly recommend it.
Reply from Audrey Tan, Operations Director at Acacia CourtDear Wendy, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I will pass your comments onto my colleagues who will most definitely appreciate that their care and dedication are valued and making a difference to the people we serve. Best wishes, Audrey.

My husband was a resident at Acacia Court for 18 months. During that time he was cared for with much kindness and compassion by the staff. I am pleased that agency staff are not used, because it is so important for staff and residents to know and understand each other. My husband was not the easiest
of residents to cope with but the staff did an amazing job, with patience, cheerfulness and understanding. The building is old and in some ways inconvenient, but the homely atmosphere makes up for this. The COVID situation has been very difficult and distressing for everyone (not least my husband) but staff have done their utmost best and deserve high praise. The end-of-life care for my husband was most compassionate and I would be happy to recommend Acacia Court to anyone needing residential care. Thank you all.
Reply from Haley Shaw, Head of HR at Acacia CourtGood Afternoon,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about the services provided at Acacia Court.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to you and your family during this sad time.
We are so pleased to hear that your husband was cared for in a kind and compassionate manner, especially during the final days of his life. It has been an extremely difficult time for many people during the COVID-19 pandemic and we hope that knowing your husband was cared for in such a considerate way has given you some comfort.
We strive to deliver the highest standards of care at Acacia Court as well as all other sister homes and are extremely proud of our fantastic staff team here. Their dedication, hard work and teamwork enable us to not need agency staff, therefore providing continuous person-centred care.

We will ensure your lovely feedback is passed on to the whole team at Acacia Court.

Take care and stay safe.

Kindest Regards,
Bloom Care Family

Very friendly staff, all the staff including management and the medical team are very helpful. My mother has a lovely large room, lovely garden at the back, in which residents and families can sit out in.
They have a very good entertainment programme and a few times a year hold parties which include

My Mother is happy living at Acacia Court, which I believe is a good recommendation. The Manager works hard to maintain, and also raise, standards. She welcomes feedback from relatives and responds quickly to resolve any concerns raised. The Manager and her staff are friendly, kind and attentive
to residents, and also offer support to relatives and visitors. There are regular activities each week, which are designed to engage and stimulate residents. My Mother particularly enjoys those activities involving music and singing. The entertainment arranged over the Christmas period was excellent. In the past year, residents have enjoyed a number of things, including an Easter Party, a summer barbeque and a trip out to Knowsley Safari Park. Families and friends are always invited to join residents and staff on all of these occasions.

My mother, at 98 years old, realised she needed residential care along with her family. We chose Acacia Court where she was always been treated with dignity, love and respect. She is now 103 years old- she is completely immobile and has dementia but she remains there and continues to be treated with
love and respect. All the residents now have dementia in one form or another. The staff on the floor remain patient and kind.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.892)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.892) out of 10 for Acacia Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.892 for Acacia Court is calculated as follows: ( (407 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 453 Ratings = 4.892
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acacia Court is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
