The Cedars has been purpose-designed to offer a homely setting, with a pleasant social atmosphere for older people with care needs. The home is very much a part of village life, with many residents from the immediate vicinity. Friends and family regularly pass through the home to visit residents and there is a family feel between residents and the care team, who are well established and have worked in the...

My father first stayed at the Cedars in 2013 when he was 90 years old. He had been in hospital with a serious illness and needed convalescence and care while recovering. The care he received enabled him to return to health sufficiently to allow him to continue to live independently for the next three years in Holmes Chapel.
When dad finally needed extra care, once again we chose The Cedars - this time they looked after him for what turned out to be his final weeks. Great efforts were made to encourage him to eat etc. but dad got progressively weaker despite all that was done. Extra care was taken to try and avoid falls as he became more dependent. We never saw any signs of impatience oo lack of care from the staff.

Whenever we visited we were greeted at the door by cheerful, smiling staff - all this made a great difference to how we felt about dad having to be cared for away from his own home. When dad died the staff dealt with everything with the greatest compassion, and care. Our family will always remember all the staff at The Cedars with gratitude. Long may they continue to provide a special "home from home" for all their residents.

We were very touched to read your comments about The Cedars. It means a lot to the staff here to know that your family felt reassured about your father's wellbeing when he was with us. Compassion is at the heart of everything we do and it is reassuring for us to know that your experiences with The Cedars lived up to this during a very difficult time.

I became involved with the resident over 2½ years ago, she was put in the Cedars after her husband died of cancer, after she herself had a stroke, and was unable to live on her own. The Cedars was local to her own home, the staff are very professional and her care is second to none. Sometimes she can be very difficult and the staff are very understanding to her needs. I have become close to some of the other residents and I've not heard a bad word about any of the staff they are all very well cared for.

It was a very difficult decision to make regarding mums future care after she had several falls and became a little confused and muddled on occasions. She was reluctant to leave the home she loved but events overcame that decision when she became ill and needed more care. The Cedars was local and her GP and DN's covered there so she agreed to moving there.
Mum settled immediately and this was mainly down to the staff who were so welcoming and friendly and it became apparent that it was definitely the right place for her to live out the remainder of her life.

Staff have always kept me informed and involved me in any decision making regarding what is best for mum and now that she has some of her 'bits and pieces' and her chair from home in her room she is really happy.
