Lauren Court care home, located in Blacon, on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Chester, provides personalised residential care to older people.

Offering luxurious accommodation, round the clock care and good home cooking, the friendly home is situated in its own grounds and has private lawn gardens and a secure patio area, a perfect place to sit outside and enjoy the weather on those summer days.

Mum moved to Lauren Court initially for a fortnight's respite in January but after a short period in her own home we all realised that Mum could no longer cope and that Lauren Court was the best place she could be in. Mum is 96, has severe arthritis, Parkinson's Disease and many other medical complaints.
The move into Care can be traumatic for all concerned but all the staff at Lauren Court made the process very easy for the whole family. The manager and her team are very professional and I felt that Mum was in excellent hands. The staff are all welcoming, always smiling and cheerful and very very patient with mum. They are all very conscientious and caring. I can't praise them enough.
There have been a couple of minor problems since mum moved to Lauren Court but the manager and her staff have sorted these out in a few minutes. I feel that nothing is too much trouble for them. I completely recommend Lauren Court to anyone who is looking for an excellent care home.

My mother required a care home and I had nothing but praise for Lauren Court. Following which I went to visit before deciding to try and place my mother here. I was delighted with the whole "package" and therefore chose Lauren Court without hesitation! From what I have witnessed over the past two months
Lauren Court is outstanding! Excellent care from considerate staff, the meals look excellent, all areas I have visited are always very clean! I do feel it is very expensive but then I guess all care comes at a cost! I would be more than happy to spend twilight years here if required. Highly recommended care home.

The staff are extremely caring which in my view is the most important factor when choosing a care home, treating my mother with high levels of dignity and respect. Impressive facilities, well maintained and recently modernised further. Well appointed bedrooms with en-suite facility. Well run and managed.
I haven't had any issue to raise with management in the 4 years that my mother has been a resident.

Concerned over turnover of staff. Mums care plan not discussed with me and nor reviewed with family. Named carer not introduced to us. We were not always informed when mum was visited by GP or district nurse. When I took mum for outside appointments at hospital etc. she often was not ready and we had
to find shoes/coat/dentures/glasses. On one occasion follow up appointment at hospital mums legs were dirty and I had to ask for her finger nails to be cut- long and dirty, same with toe nails.

Staff turnover has been reviewed and there are 2 new domestics to replace the staff who have retired. There are also 2 new care staff who are covering for staff who are on maternity leave.


The name of the key worker is clearly documented within the care plan, and the key worker explains the proposed plan of care to the resident and relative on admission, and asks for their input to ensure that they are happy with it.


The family are usually informed when a resident is seen by a GP or a district nurse, especially if the health concern is significant.


When staff are informed of external appointments, these are placed in the diary so that they are aware that a resident will be going out and at what time.


Fingernails are checked daily as part of personal care to ensure that they are clean and neat. Toenails are also kept clean, and a chiropody appointment arranged as required.

Lauren Court is beautifully appointed, clean, bright and comfortable with lovely food.

The staff are very kind and go the extra mile to make residents feel "at home!" In spite of busy work loads I have known staff sit with my mum during their break in her room whilst she has eaten her lunch. My mum is tucked up at night. The residents home is modern and cheerfully decorated. Dining room
over looking a pleasant garden. Public areas always smell fresh. I think the menus are good (not the chips) with emphasis on fresh vegetables. Meals attractively plated up. Surprisingly good sauces which I would expect to get at a restaurant. Medical attention sought quickly when necessary.

Racheal Ashman

Job Title: Home Manager

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Racheal has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for residents.


Having worked at Lauren Court for many years, Racheal closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Racheal remarked:
“Being able to empower staff and make a difference to our residents’ lives.”


Racheal is very proud of her career so far, not least her current role, and she describes it as one of her greatest achievements:
“From the age of 16 I wanted to manage my own care home. I have worked so hard to get here, and the day I got the call to say I had been successful in my interviews for the Home Manager role, and that I had reached my goal, I couldn’t have been prouder!”


Outside of work, Racheal enjoys looking after her dog, Cosmo:
“I love my dog, Cosmo, he even comes with me to work sometimes. He really enjoys meeting our wonderful residents!”
