Lauren Court care home, located in Blacon, on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Chester, provides personalised residential care to older people.

Offering luxurious accommodation, round the clock care and good home cooking, the friendly home is situated in its own grounds and has private lawn gardens and a secure patio area, a perfect place to sit outside and enjoy the weather on those summer days.

The communal areas and activities programme are also very popular at the home, including a library service, nail bar, hair salon, minibus for trips out and shopping.

Dad has been a resident of Lauren Court Care Home for a year now.
My dad is quite a poorly and somewhat demanding gentleman. I visit with my husband every other day not because of the team at Lauren Court for any reason but because he's my dad and has progressive vascular dementia and I want to see
him whilst his dementia allows it.
The whole home is clean and tidy with engaging decor and furniture the dining room is open and airy and serves nice appropriate food for people in their twilight years. Tea, coffee, biscuits, cake, and fruit to name a few are around on a trolley quite a few times a day.
Clients including my dad take a while to adjust and they need time to get used to their surroundings.
The ladies and gents who care for dad are fabulous. I am often in dad's room out of sight and often hear the most heartwarming conversations and acts of kindness and respect.
I have only just started to see agency staff whilst the manager recruits in these difficult times.
Lauren Court is a kind home.

My mother went into Laurent Court in November 2017 until she passed away in March 2022. In my opinion, my mother received excellent care throughout her stay. Many thanks to all concerned who cared for my mum.

My Dad came here for a week's respite. When I collected him, he was very distressed, there was blood on his carpet and pillowcase. He said he had fallen out of bed, as no arm rail was provided on the bed, he then crawled to the door shouting for help and banging for attention, but nobody came. I spoke
to the manager on duty and she didn't know anything about it, and when I asked to see the accident book nothing had been entered in it. When I looked him over when we got home, his toenail was missing and very blooded, he has a big bruise on his arm and where the district nurse has been treating an ulcer, which was almost healed, it is now open with carpet burns continuing down his leg and his other leg is badly bruised and carpet burnt from crawling. The home seems to be very short-staffed, and one member of staff told my Daughter she hadn't had time for a toilet break and another member of staff told me a lot of the staff are not permanent but agency workers and things have gone down.

Thank you for your review we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We are sorry your Father experienced these issues during his week of respite with us. Your Father’s pre-admission assessment did not indicate a need for bed rail or mobility aids. Our care provision includes regular checks at least 2 hourly during the night and care colleagues did conduct these. Our electronic accident book shows an entry where your Father told a colleague he had slipped. Colleagues checked your Father he was not hurt but for his toenail, this wound was immediately attended to and dressed and your Father was assisted to return to bed. As you are aware the District Nursing Team was called at the time of the incident however they triaged the incident as not requiring an immediate response. Staffing in the home is appropriate for the needs of the residents and little agency staff is required. All colleagues have every opportunity to attend to their own personnel needs on a shift.

I wouldn't rate this care to anyone. My grandad was allocated a room that seemed nice and clean when you walk in but never see any staff to help with enquiries. My grandad needed bed rails to help get in and out of bed but nothing was given, the toilet flooded and no one was bothered. He fell on the
floor, the buzzer didn't work and was crying for ages for someone to help, luckily it wasn't a heart attack. They have no accident book, the manager really needs to up their game. Oh and allow their staff to have a toilet because they have rights.

Our family were pleased that my brother was accepted into Lauren Court some 2 plus years ago. We are sure that he is well cared for within the care home and is treated as a positive personality. Mum is happy and content in Lauren Court. Before COVID I would visit her there and was very happy with the care and attention the staff gave her. I would go as fas to say that the staff are some of the most friendly and considerate people I have met. It is an extremely difficult task looking after your
loved one, even harder in these COVID affected times, but I feel assured that Mum is in safe and caring hands.

I can not sing the praised of the staff at Lauren Court enough. My grandad went into their care last year and they have made him feel so welcome, he has got a new lease of life thanks to them all. Yes, it has been a difficult time with not being able to see him, but the video calls have been amazing
and the staff are always so accommodating to make them happen.

I am so pleased to have selected the Lauren Court for the care of my sister in June 2018, and I have visited her weekly up to the restrictions due to the 'lockdowns' and I look forward to resuming those visits again soon. I have enjoyed my visits and greatly impressed by the standard of all the facilities
available. The staff are so welcoming, kind and ready to discuss anything with great patience, for which I am so grateful.

I have been happy with the quality of care given to my father. He is treated with kindness and patience at all times. He is assisted in talking to his family every week on an Ipad. He seems happy, settled and well cared for at the home.

This has been a very difficult year for all. The home has been very helpful in facilitating visits as soon as possible and accepting parcels for my aunt when visiting was not allowed. They have been very careful and thorough in all covid rules and kept me informed of all necessary changes.

Racheal Ashman

Job Title: Home Manager

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Racheal has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for residents.


Having worked at Lauren Court for many years, Racheal closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Racheal remarked:
“Being able to empower staff and make a difference to our residents’ lives.”


Racheal is very proud of her career so far, not least her current role, and she describes it as one of her greatest achievements:
“From the age of 16 I wanted to manage my own care home. I have worked so hard to get here, and the day I got the call to say I had been successful in my interviews for the Home Manager role, and that I had reached my goal, I couldn’t have been prouder!”


Outside of work, Racheal enjoys looking after her dog, Cosmo:
“I love my dog, Cosmo, he even comes with me to work sometimes. He really enjoys meeting our wonderful residents!”
