The charming Marsh House, a converted farmhouse, offers its residents great views, beautifully decorated rooms and spacious facilities to socialise in.

The care provided by the highly-qualified and compassionate staff is personalised to ensure each resident is treated as an individual. Meals provided follow the same ethos and the home's chef regularly speaks to residents to fulfil their needs and preferences.

Marsh House accommodates up to 33 residents. They offer residential care plus support to those who are finding that their memory is becoming more of an issue in their daily lives. Most rooms feature French doors that open onto the grounds and residents have lots of space around the home, including a conservatory, to socialise and relax.

My husband was a resident from August 2021 to October 2021 after a stay in hospital. Initially, I was fairly happy with his care and environment. Sadly these last few weeks I have noticed a huge deterioration in the care and cleanliness of the home. His bed had been broken for weeks meaning he has been
lying flat for hours on end. I was promised this would be mended but it wasn’t. He was told he would be referred to OT and physio but that hasn’t happened. I regularly visited to find full urine bottles on the floor and soiled marks on his bedding. The room was constantly full of flies. I decided to move him and when I went to collect him yesterday. I was disgusted at the state of his room. Spilled urine bottles all over floor, soiled clothes on the floor, rubbish scattered all around and not surprisingly the room was full of flies.
Unfortunately, the home seems to be staffed with a lot of agency staff and quite an unfriendly deputy manager.

How sad we were to receive your review. Unfortunately, as discussed previously with yourself and the social worker at various times during your husbands stay, the issues you highlight are part of the behavioural aspects of your husband's dementia. They were heightened on the day of his discharge from Marsh House as he refused any staff to go into him and deliver any care or clean. The ‘rubbish’ and urine on the floor are of course part of the wider challenge of his particular care needs.
I wish to reassure you that the Home Manager has confirmed that the OT referral was completed via the GP at the time and the social worker has since followed this up, but there a waiting list of 6-8 weeks. Kind regards.

My mum has lived at Marsh House for the past four years and after regular visits, I knew I'd picked the best nursing home. Then came COVID and the past year of separation, weekly video calls and visiting in the pod has been stressful for everyone. Although I've seen photos of her taking part in the
many activities at the home and speaking to her on the phone, it's still been stressful without the physical contact and hugs have been sorely missed. Today, 9th March, I was able to visit in her room and able after a year to hold her hands. What a joyous 'reunion' only made possible by the extra hard work by the nursing staff. I'd like to thank all Marsh House staff for keeping a spotless home, caring for personal hygiene, giving Mum the choice of what she eats, providing activities and keeping her spirits up. Without all the outstanding care she's been given the last 12 months would have been intolerable. To quote Mum this morning 'if I can't live at home I'm in the best place I can be' says it all.

We took the difficult decision to move my mum from independent living into care nearer to us in February, and in view of COVID, we are so glad we did. We chose Marsh House for its rural location, which we hoped would remind her of her previous home. The staff got to know her very quickly and settled
her in well, and physically she is now much healthier and more mobile than before.
The manager, deputy manager, activity manager and senior carers have all been very supportive in communicating with us, and it is obvious they understand mum’s needs and care about her.
Although COVID stopped us from being able to visit mum and take her out, we appreciate the efforts made to maintain family contact. We are confident that the home is doing all they can to enrich the lives of their residents, keep them safe and treat them with dignity and care.

Just would like to say a big thank you to the manager and all the staff at the care home. They are working tirelessly under very difficult circumstances. The care that they provide is second to none. Nothing is too much trouble. Being unable to visit mum, when I phone, they are always very cheerful
and pleasant. Ideally, nobody likes a family member in any home, but knowing that Mum (and the other residents) are very well looked after and cared for puts us, as a family, at ease. Keep up the excellent work. Thank you to you all.

Well, my mum has been in Marsh House for around 11 months. The manager and other staff members go out of their way to help my mum, showing her the best of care and lots of love and affection. During these awful times, my mum has been treated with the best care and has been really protected. We call
every day and are always welcomed with happy positive staff. We could not have found a more caring home for my mum. All I can finish with is "BRILLIANT".

Marsh House is a lovely, happy care home. The residents are very well cared for. The place is bright and cheerful, as are the staff who work there. Communication with families is good. My mother and father-in-law are both residents at Marsh House. The care they receive goes above and beyond. They have done remarkably well over the year, despite lockdown and I couldn't mark them down at all. Unfortunately, they have recently had their first cases of Covid, but, yet again they have
surpassed expectations. The staff have been very helpful and kept us up to date with all developments. I would recommend Marsh House to anybody in the unfortunate position of having to find a care home for their loved ones.

The manager and staff treat residents with dignity and respect at all times. During the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, they are approachable and always have the residents best interests at heart. The communication from the home is good and I know that I am always kept up to date with anything that will
affect my Mum. Care home staff have always been undervalued within the Social Care sector but they have come to the fore during this unprecedented time and their skills must be valued and recognised way beyond the current situation. Mum has resided in Marsh House for just over two and a half years and is very happy there. As a family, we are very grateful for the exceptional care and support Mum has been given. The care and support is above and beyond the expectation we had of any care home, as the staff are very compassionate
and considerate to Mum's individual needs. I feel confident that Mum is being treated with respect, empathy and understanding from all the staff at Marsh House and trust the staff with her care. During the problem times with the Covid-19, all staff have had to contend with difficult situations, but I personally feel they have been exceptional in looking after the residents' needs and that of the relatives. The staff have been only too pleased to take a phone call from us enquiring after our loved ones. This has been a lifeline during these awful times when visits aren't allowed. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Marsh House and wish them well in the future.

This is a truly incredible care home. The concern and support they give my little mother is above and beyond.
The one important thing is that you can trust every single staff member to give residents total care and support. Every staff member is kind and a happy, bright atmosphere constantly maintained,
in which the residents thrive. I honestly believe that the pleasant atmosphere is genuine.
The staff know my mother well and are thus able to make her life pleasant and as good as it can be.
I am able to visit my family in other parts of the country safe in the knowledge that my mother’s world is happily turning.

I have been a resident for 2 years and have found Marsh House to be excellent. Good chefs provide quality cooked food. A good games organiser sees that residents are kept entertained. Good central heating keeps the building comfortably warm. Well kept, mature gardens to sit out in.

Following a protracted bout of illness Mum, aged 95, finally acknowledged that she could no longer continue independently in her own home. Difficult as that decision was we anticipated finding a suitable Care Home to be more challenging. That was until we heard about Marsh House in Ulnes Walton Lane.
From the very first telephone enquiry, the staff made us feel comfortable and as soon as we stepped inside the front door to look around there was a welcome sense of being "at home". While the transition itself was not without slight hiccups and the current Coronavirus pandemic restrictions mean that contact with the Home is limited, the staff continue to inspire and fill us with confidence that Mum is in the best hands possible at this time.

Would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Marsh House they really are amazing. Residents are always treated with care, understanding and respect. My mum is very happy there and always says we couldn't have found a better place for her. During covid19 and lockdown they have gone out of
their way to ensure Mum was looked after and all the residents, they always have a smile and good word. We have had video calls so Mum could see us and vice versa which obviously made it so much better for us all. Thank you so much to all of you it's an amazing home and you do a wonderful job.

We found Marsh House to be a warm, compassionate place, the care was excellent and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we could see (via face time) our loved ones, and they were always happy to keep us informed as to her welfare when we phoned as due to COVID 19 we were unable to visit, but
the staff kept the residents fully entertained by arranging fun-filled days. We will have no hesitation in recommending Marsh House Residential Home it is 5 Star.

The carers at Marsh House always go above and beyond what is expected in order to provide the highest possible level of care to my mother. All aspects of her care are handled in a consistently professional manner, and this has a marked effect on my mother after previous experiences at other establishments.
