My experience of visiting the care home seven days a week is good. I find all the senior staff on the unit and care workers are also good.

My grandad has been at Meadow Bank for a number of years suffering with severe dementia. The care he receives is phenomenal, he has the best quality of life he could have. He is treated with the utmost respect, kindness, compassion and care. The staff are phenomenal, going above and beyond to make him settled, comfortable and as happy as possible. I love visiting, I am made to feel part of the family and always warmly welcomed, it is a warm and happy home. I am so thankful my grandad is in such a loving, safe place and I am so thankful for all that the staff do, not just for my grandad but for me, but for making me so welcome and giving me such peace of mind. He also certainly loves the food and the staff know his favourites!

Our darling mum was a resident in Ribble House for over 5 years. The staff of Ribble House (which is the medical unit) worked tirelessly and with love to support mum’s needs. Mum had a lovely room with patio doors opening out onto greenery. The staff showed mum so much love and dignity and on her funeral day came out on mass to say goodbye.

Thank you all.

My mother has been a resident at Meadow Bank Care Home for almost six years. Overall the experience has been positive. Carers are generally very caring, kind and patient with residents.

The home has been recently refurbished and is light and bright in general areas.

The change in mum just after a couple of days in Meadow Bank Care Home was so noticeable. Since being here she has reconnected with her language, which we thought was lost for good whilst in her previous care home. It is clear that staff spend time talking and interacting with her and she is back to her old self, smiling and chatting. Mum loves the food cooked fresh on-site which has clearly benefited her. Staff are always helpful and keen to know about mum's life and what she likes. Seeing mum in such good care has been a huge relief for me and my family.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. If there are concerns about my wife's health or anything else that they think I should know about, they won't hesitate to get in touch with me. The home feels bright and cheerful with the new decor. It also feels like it's definitely the right place for my wife's needs. Would recommend this care home to family and friends.

My husband has been a resident for approx 8 weeks being transferred from the hospital. From what I have been able to review so far, obviously limited due to COVID restrictions. I am happy that he is being treated with consideration and dignity.

On Dad's 86th birthday in March, my sister and I visited and had a window visit with Dad. We were concerned that his dementia would have worsened over the 12 months we hadn’t seen him because of covid. We were blown away by the level of care that Dad is receiving. A member of staff helped Dad open all his presents talking to us and involving us through the window. She treated Dad like he was her own grandad and with such genuine affection and respect. It made me cry with relief and happiness that he was in such good hands. Well done meadow bank.

In the past 12 months it's been very difficult not being able to see our loved ones, wondering how they are, are they being cared for properly. I didn't have to worry as the staff gave more than 110%, keeping me up to date with things and doing facetime calls. My husband was very well cared for and I would recommend this home to anyone who was looking for a care home.

My mum-in-law (94) was discharged from hospital to Meadow Bank during Covid. We were unable to visit initially, but we’ve been so grateful for the level of care and attention shown to both to us and to Mum. From her time in Beech House, to her transfer to Ribble, we’ve had many conversations with managers and carers who’ve been able to update us on her wellbeing. She seems to have settled in well and is well looked after, her weight maintained, and she has visits from an activities co-ordinator who does crafts with her. Our daughter was married recently and live-streamed her ceremony (of 5) to family who couldn’t attend. The carers dressed Mum for the occasion, and decorated the visiting room with balloons, candles, banners, and rose petals so that she could enjoy the ceremony with my husband (her son). I’ll be honest, I sobbed at their thoughtfulness and dedication. The managers and staff have been amazing. Thank you all. (ratings given without access, due to Covid)

My mum was a resident for 12 months in Beech House and was looked after at all times by nurses and care staff with the utmost care, dignity and professionalism. In her time there, I have never had any reason to complain. She loved her room and the hot home-cooked food prepared on-site. Mum was always in clean clothes, her hair done weekly at the hairdressers there, nail varnish applied and never smelt of urine.

I spent 48 hours there at the end of her life and saw 1st hand how well she was cared for. Her end of life meds were started on time, nurses came in every 10 to 15 minutes to check on her. Her position in bed adjusted every 2 hours, she was properly washed and her nightie changed every day. I heard how the care staff had spent hours in her room in the evenings chatting during lockdown. I could rest assured that my mother was very well looked after as I received regular updates about her condition and her needs. I couldn't ask for more from a care home. Wonderful staff! Thank you.

My mum had excellent care whilst at Meadow Bank. Her room was lovely and she was able to see trees and the garden from her bed. Most importantly the staff in Ribble House were superb - respectful, personable and loving, establishing a very caring relationship with my mum at the end of her life.

The staff at Meadow Bank have been nothing but caring compassionate and attentive to the needs of my father in law. They always put his care needs first and foremost and reliably communicate updates to the family when we visit. I have found the staff to be professional and efficient to deal with if we have any queries and they have always expressed to us as a family that if we have any worries or concerns to feel comfortable to go and speak to them. I would not hesitate in recommending Meadow Bank to other families.

Overall Experience

Our mother was a resident at Meadow Bank for 21 months and received excellent care and support at all times. At no point did we have cause for concern about her care, support or dignity. We knew she was being supported and cared for by professional caring people from the management team to the cleaners and the laundry staff, kitchen staff and any member of staff who came into contact with our mother was caring, friendly, professional and supportive. Our mother was taken to the hospital in late December 2019 and was diagnosed with an untreatable condition and was deemed to be at the end of life. She returned back to Meadow Bank to live out the rest of her life in the comfort of her home surrounded by staff and family. Her condition deteriorated 11 days before she passed away and was then confined to her bed, what followed was the end of life plan, executed by the manager and all his staff on a unit and I can only describe it as incredible. The attention to detail and care, not only for our mother but for us as a family was beyond belief. Our mother passed away with dignity and was surrounded by family and staff that really care.
