Overall Experience
What can I say, the staff at Sherwood Lodge go far and beyond what they call "just doing our job". They are professional, caring and made Mum feel like she was at home.

Sadly, Mum passed away this week, both my sister and I stayed with her at the Lodge for two days where they gave us a bed, fed us and gave us endless cups of tea and comfort. They gave mum the dignity she deserved and she was particularly fond of a senior carer (who came in on her day off to see mum as she was worried about her), she called her "my girl"and another male senior carer. They couldn't have done anymore and supported both my sister and myself throughout. They really go the extra mile. We will always be forever grateful for them helping us through a very difficult time it would have been much worse without them.

Overall Experience

Sherwood Lodge is a lovely care home, with lovely caring and patient staff. My mother who has dementia has been a resident now for two years and always says, "it's a good place" which always makes us as a family reassured that she is happy and contented and in return we are happy and contented knowing she is being cared for in a lovely environment with kind staff who will go that extra mile. Food is cooked and presented to a very high nutritious standard and visitors can eat with their relative if required. The activities they provide are outstanding and stimulating and I wouldn't hesitate in choosing this home for another relative.

Overall Experience

My husband is settled at Sherwood Lodge and I am satisfied with the care he is receiving. The care staff are all excellent and work over and above the call of duty for the individual residents. Along with others, my husband can be awkward and behave out of character, but the staff handle him with care and dignity. Individual needs are always recognised.

Overall the care and services provided have to be considered better than good. My Mother has been resident here for more than 8 years which in itself is evidence of our satisfaction with the care given.

Tracy Catterall
Tracy CatterallJob Title:General ManagerJoined: 2018

Hi, my name is Tracy, and I am the General Manager here at Sherwood Lodge.

I have worked in care since 2000. I started working nights as a Carer, then I had a ten-year break to raise my family. I then went back to work in a home that provided EMI care, before moving on to complete my NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care to become a Senior Carer. I started at Sherwood Lodge in October 2018 in the role of Head of Care. I was later promoted to Deputy Manager, and then recently I was appointed as the General Manager for Sherwood Lodge. I am enjoying every aspect of my new role.

My name is Karen, I am a mother to five children and I have worked at Sherwood Lodge since 2018 starting off as a Care Assistant, progressing to the role of Senior Care Assistant and now Deputy Home Manager which I am really enjoying.

I am dedicated to my job and I take pride in the fact that we make a difference in the lives of our residents. I work closely with all my colleagues and management to ensure that Sherwood Lodge is the best it can be in providing quality care to all our residents.

Lee Riley
Lee RileyJob Title:Head of MaintenanceJoined: 2017

I am the Head of Maintenance here at Sherwood Lodge and also at Sherwood Court. One of the best things about working in a care environment is that you are helping residents and families and trying to make their lives a little bit easier. Knowing that you make a difference to people's day provides a real sense of achievement.

Bridget Lawrenson
Bridget LawrensonJob Title:Head Of HousekeepingJoined: 2010

I have been working at Sherwood Lodge since 2010, starting off as a care assistant, and I am now the head housekeeper. Previous to my work here, I worked in the community as a support worker and, before that, that I worked in the hotel sector. I enjoy my role here at Sherwood Lodge, and I have a strong and reliable team working beside me. Sherwood Lodge is a happy and relaxed place to be and work.

I have worked at Sherwood Lodge since 2008 as the Admin Assistant. I have always worked in administration and office roles since leaving school.

I enjoy my work here at Sherwood Lodge, as everyday offers something different, and I have gained a very close bond with the residents, and enjoy our daily chats.

Nnamdi OssaiJob Title:Bank Senior CarerJoined: 2022

I started at Sherwood Lodge in November 2022 as a Care Assistant. I previously worked as an Account Manager and decided I needed a change. Deciding to move over to start working in care was the best decision I have made. I was promoted to Senior Carer in April 2023, and am proud to care for our residents to help them enjoy each day.

Pam Wareing
Pam WareingJob Title:HostessJoined: 2021

I originally started at Sherwood Lodge as a member of the Housekeeping team in August 2021, before transferring to the role of Hostess.

I really enjoy my role, as I get to spend quality time with the residents and their families each and every day. My role includes serving breakfast and lunch, to offering refreshments throughout the day and making sure everyone always has a cup of tea and a biscuit to hand. I'm the first port of call for making sure everybody always feels at home.

Maria Sweeney
Maria SweeneyJob Title:Activities CoordinatorJoined: 2025

My name is Maria, and I have been the Activities Coordinator in Sherwood Lodge since June 2025. I moved from Ireland to Scotland to qualify as a Speech and Language Therapist before moving to Preston to follow my career. I spent over 18 months working as an SLT on the stroke wards in Preston and Chorley Hospitals, where I found that chatting to people, planning meaningful activities for each person and organising group activities was the highlight of my job!

I am delighted that these aspects are now the key part of my role here at Sherwood Lodge, and I also get to incorporate so many of my personal interests, such as crafting, music, travelling and crocheting, into my work! I am proud of the rapport I have built with the residents here and the positive energy I bring to the home.
