I can only praise the staff here, from the admin to the cleaners. They all have a smile on their faces. They take great care of the residents and treat them with respect. The home itself is well laid out, clean and maintained.

Visits through covid 19 lockdown. Using conservatory for visits only. Always pleasant and friendly staff. My auntie is always fresh and clean. Most of all she is happy.

Apart from the number of different managers over the last two years, the overall care has been good. Noticed a lack of activities when Mum first arrived, now, unfortunately, she's bed-bound. Staff have improved over the last six months. Rooms are a bit dismal regarding decor.

I have only been able to visit a few times with lockdown, but hopefully, when things get better I am hoping to visit more. So from what I have seen during my visit, I would say things look good.

My aunt was admitted to Ferndale Mews in 2020 during the height of the Covid pandemic, myself and her other family members cannot fault Ferndale Mews for ensuring her (and other residents) safety and welfare. My aunt is always happy and seems content being in the home. She tells us the food is good and often has her nails painted which she feels pleased with. Overall from what we have seen and the time she has been there we are happy with what we see.

One impression of the hoe is food and have not given us any reason for concern. The staff are very friendly and appear to go out of their way to accommodate both residents and visitors. We are unable to comment on the rooms full as Covid restrictions limit access based upon our experiences I believe this to be a well run friendly environment with lots of interaction.

My aunt came to the home at the start of coronavirus for respite. Circumstances have meant that she is now a pertinent resident. I was happy for her to stay due to the case she receives. The staff really care about the residents and understand their healthcare needs. It is hugely difficult for a family having to make a decision on a care home, but I am more than happy with the care provided by Ferndale Mews.

Ferndale Mews is a lovely place for my mum to stay. It has been like home from home and I can rest assured that she is always well looked after. The staff are always helpful and friendly making her stay a very enjoyable and pleasant one. I have no hesitation in recommending Ferndale Mews to anyone looking for a place for their relative/loved one to stay.

Overall Experience

We were lucky to find such a wonderful Dementia nursing home for mum in Widnes. The manager, nurses, carers, administrator and handyman are exceptional people who are devoted to their residents. The whole ethos of Ferndale is first-class care for everyone, with the staff going above and beyond to deliver that standard. Everyone seemed to take such good care of mum, helping her to settle in despite us being unable to see her due to COVID. Every time we rang and spoke to the manager, nurses or carers they were just so warm-hearted and compassionate, we could tell they really cared. Unfortunately mum was very poorly, and her health deteriorated but the access she had to nurses and doctors whilst at Ferndale, was reassuring and she had exceptional care. The manager allowed us compassionate visits towards the end so we could see the care mum had, and it was second to none. Thank you to each and every one of you who cared for our mum, you are all doing a wonderful job.

Regrettably, we reached the point where mum needed more care than we could give her at home; with what support was available in the community. Reluctantly we found Ferndale Mews Dementia Nursing Care Home, and how very lucky were we?. Everyone from the manager through to the handyperson has the interests of the resident as their number one priority. The prompt care and attention mum received with genuine kindness and compassion was superb. Due to COVID, we could not visit, each call we were reassured with what we were hearing. At the end of Mum's life, we were able to be with mum and we witnessed everyone we encountered first-rate care for mum, which had far, far exceeded my expectations; dignity, genuine care, respect, compassion are some of the words. I would have no hesitation in entrusting your most loved ones to the wonderful care of Ferndale Mews. We can never thank each and every one of you exceptional people enough for the care of our mum.

My mum only arrived in January 2020 so I haven't visited very often due to covid-19. But I am very thankful to all staff for keeping my mum safe and for all the effort the home has put in for the family, keeping them in touch.

I would not recommend this care home to anyone. Our experience of the care provided at Ferndale Mews has shattered us as a family. I would recommend that you visit every aspect of the home before allowing your most vulnerable family members to reside here.

This is a limited review as we're in a covid situation when my dad was admitted so not been able to look inside the home but only visit twice in the garden. However, the staff are so friendly, warm and personable. My dad has massively improved in mood, mobility and general wellbeing in the two months he's been there and so I am very happy. He says everyone is lovely and he's glad he no longer lives alone in his old apartment.

I have recently taken the extremely difficult decision to move my mum into residential care. This has been the hardest decision ever but the staff at Ferndale Mews have been amazing, right from the very first contact I had through to her admission yesterday. They have reassured me, answered all my questions and given me all their time and attention to help me and my mum through this difficult transition period. Nothing has been too much trouble for them and their attention to detail to get everything right has been outstanding. I can't praise or thank them enough. The leadership, the care and the compassion shown by the home's manager has been exemplary. Thank you.
