Simonsfield Care Home specialises in residential and dementia care. The beautiful home is situated near to shops and the town and is within easy reach of public transport.

Care workers offer residents and their families the support they need during what many find some of the most trying times of their lives. Families are truly grateful for the personal support they receive, when faced with one of life's very difficult decisions and the team pride themselves on continuing that support to residents and their families from the moment they contact the home throughout the whole of their stay and beyond.

The approach to care is simple - look after the person and not the ailment/condition alone - care workers want to get to know their residents and their families, thus enabling them to look after the whole person and not just to concentrate on the task in hand. Staff get to know their clients, who they are, who they were and how they have come to be at the home.

Care workers get to know their families too and like to understand the dynamics within the family setting and how best they can support these as they build a relationship of trust. My mum has resided in Simonsfield Care Home since 2018 after suffering a stroke 5-years ago then a bad fall. I have nothing but praise for the staff, the care and support they have all shown to my mum over the last years and continue to do. My mum has made many new friends and enjoys the company.


During

lockdown due to COVID 19, I have met many new family members in the car park waiting to visit their relatives, and they have been unable to view Simonsfield in person before taking the decision for the best care possible for the relative. I do hope my own words spoken to them gave some peace of mind.

I visited my mum on Saturday 24 July and had arranged to take her out for the day. When I arrived, and after taking a Covid LFT, I met my mum, who was looking very smart, had had her hair done and was completely ready to go out. As I live in Bristol, my visit was intended as a surprise, and I was delighted
that the staff had maintained my secret!
I had a further visit on Sunday when I sat with my mum in the garden for several hours. Again, she was looking very well. Throughout my visit she was well looked after by the staff, being offered drinks, and they even brought her dinner out to the garden. The garden was looking well maintained, and the hanging baskets were blooming.
When I was leaving, to help the emotion, one of the carers sat with Mum to comfort and distract her. I really appreciated this thoughtfulness.
I'd like to thank all the staff who I came into contact with during both my visits, who were very friendly and made me feel extremely welcome.

My mum was taken into Simonsfield at short notice. As a family, we were devastated, as we wanted to look after her at home, but realised after eight and a half years with dementia, it came to the time where we couldn't give her all she needed. We are so pleased we chose Simonsfield. The staff are so
lovely and professional from the minute we walked through the door; they welcomed Mum with tenderness and understanding, couldn't ask for any better.

Mum has been in Simonsfield for four weeks now. The staff are excellent; Mum doesn't have a bad word for any of them. They are friendly and treat Mum like one of their family. She is treated with dignity and has her best interest at heart. At the moment, they only have one activity person, which means
they only have activities for two afternoons, but hopefully, that will be sorted soon. My only quibble; is they don't put many photos on their Facebook page when I would love to see Mum. I find this to be an excellent home all-around.

Simonsfield made my mums transition into their care very smoothly. Any concerns I have had, I spoke to the manager, and we got these sorted, mainly about my mum mixing with other residents. My mum is now settled and made many new friends.

On arrival, the door was promptly answered when I rang the bell.
Lovely welcome from the staff.
A lateral flow test was done and I waited outside for the results. Once confirmed, full personal protective equipment put on and I was accompanied to Mum's room where she was in isolation due to a recent
operation.
The communal areas were extremely clean & sweet-smelling.
Mum's room was the same, clean, tidy and free from any hazards so she was safe to move around with her frame.
Mum was sat comfortably watching TV and very pleased to see me. During my visit, we heard a bell ringing and then there was a knock on the door, ice creams were being delivered. Mum really enjoyed her cone, a bit later tea and cake arrived.
After a lovely visit a carer showed me out. The care staff were very professional, busy and friendly throughout. It was a pleasure to visit after such a long time.

Just wanted to let everyone know how grateful my family and I are for the care and kindness my mother has received at Simonsfield. During this period, we wouldn't have wanted her to be anywhere else. It has been lovely to see photographs and to be able to talk on the phone with Mum. Staff are never
too busy to update us before passing the phone to our mum.
It was lovely that my brother and his wife were able to visit outside this week for 30 mins. We appreciate that doing this takes staff out of the home. Mum looked happy, had had her hair done by the carer and was pleased to have a visit. Thanks to you all during 'carers week'. We think you are all fabulous. We would recommend this home to anyone.

We just wanted you all to know that we are eternally grateful for all you are doing for my Mum and for every one of the residents at Simonsfield and also their families and friends.
Every single one of you are absolutely amazing, your care and dedication to those you care for are impossible to describe
and put into words. You continue to care, support and go into work, to go that extra mile for the people in your care, and all this despite what you will all be going through personally with this unprecedented situation happening across the world. Words cannot describe how unbelievable you are or how thankful we will always be that our Mum was so lucky to be living at Simonsfield. I will always be in awe of each and every one of you. Simonsfield is a wonderful care home and during the 3 years that my mum spent there before her passing, she was always shown care and kindness (as was I) by all of the staff that work there. The home is extremely well maintained and clean and all of the staff were always friendly and welcoming. It was
such a comfort to know that my mum was safe, well cared for and happy during the time that she was there. In my opinion, Simonsfield is the best care home in the area, by a long way.

Simonsfield Car Home is a well-managed home. I am so glad my mum is there, they take extremely good care of her and meet all her needs. All the carers work so hard yet still have a friendly smile on their faces. Thye keep me updated about my mum when I visit forby phone. I wouldn't change a single thing.
I have peace of mind when away knowing she is in good hands.

In the past 3 years, my mum has been here. I have been very happy with the care she has and is receiving.
Nothing is too much for the staff they sort out any queries as quickly as they can. From the management to staff which includes carers, cleaners, kitchen staff and secretary they all help you if
they can. This is very much appreciated by myself and family.

The standard of care is absolutely fabulous. The staff are all really attentive and very helpful.
The home itself is kept pristine and the food is excellent too. I'm extremley happy we chose Simonsfield for my mother, the family can relax knowing she's safe, secure and being well looked after.

I can not fault the care that the lovely staff at Simonsfield give to my nan for the past 4 years and more. I couldn't ask for a better place for her to live. She is safe and really taken care of and it's like she is a member of their family. A* for all, from reception to manager right down to care

Mum has really settled into her new home. At first it was so daunting for us to leave Mum's care in the hands of others, but, 12 months on she is very settled and is as happy as I can expect her to be.
When I visit, she always looks like 'my mum'. Her hair is done, she is showered, dressed well and
she looks content.
The staff have always been polite, professional and very caring towards Mum and other residents. If I ask staff anything, they answer or will find someone that can. Mum seems to enjoy the activities and I had a lovely surprise one day when I went to visit Mum and was told she is having a day out in Southport. Something I know she will have enjoyed.
I like that there is the same staff group and that changes are few, relationships and trust can be built by both staff and service user, this was something I was particularly worried about but my fears were unfounded.
Dementia is a very difficult and demanding illness and I feel confident my mum is cared for and treated with the respect she deserves.

Before my mother came to Simonsfield Care Home, she was a constant concern to me. Her personal care was non-existent, mum never washed or changed her clothes for weeks on end, even though in her mind, it was a daily occurrence. She lost so much weight because she couldn't cook for herself, it was such
a worry. Now she's put on weight, had to buy a complete new wardrobe for her this Christmas. Her personal hygiene is as it should be and she even has her hair done weekly. I'm so relieved and I can't praise Simonsfield management and staff enough.

Mum has been a resident of Somonsfield care for more than 4 years now, during that time she has been extremely well cared for. All staff, whatever their job, are very caring people, the carers look after residents as if they are their family, always treating them with a great deal of dignity and respect,
nothing is ever too much trouble for them. They will always listen to visitors no matter how busy they are and there is always a cup of tea and a piece of cake. I will never be able to thank the staff enough for the care and attention they give to her. Somonsfield care home is second to none and I strongly recommend Simonsfield care home to anyone who is looking for a care home to look after their loved one.
