Simonsfield Care Home specialises in residential and dementia care. The beautiful home is situated near to shops and the town and is within easy reach of public transport.

Care workers offer residents and their families the support they need during what many find some of the most trying times of their lives. Families are truly grateful for the personal support they receive, when faced with one of life's very difficult decisions and the team pride themselves on continuing that support to residents and their families from the moment they contact the home throughout the whole of their stay and beyond.

The approach to care is simple - look after the person and not the ailment/condition alone - care workers want to get to know their residents and their families, thus enabling them to look after the whole person and not just to concentrate on the task in hand. Staff get to know their clients, who they are, who they were and how they have come to be at the home.

Care workers get to know their families too and like to understand the dynamics within the family setting and how best they can support these as they build a relationship of trust. They understand that choosing a care home is not just about excellent amenities, but about a true and real understanding of relationships being nurtured, trust being built and a life being lived. Professionals believe in true, real and honest care and keep this at the heart of their approach.

The home welcomes long-stay residents and also those wanting a shorter-stay, perhaps for rehabilitation or convalescence or to build confidence after a fall.

Simonsfield Care Home is currently working towards being an accredited veteran-friendly care home.

I'd just like to say how fortunate we are to have Simonsfields to care for our mum. From the minute you enter you can see the love, care and dignity that all the staff give to the residents. What a wonderful place this is with such a variety of activities throughout the month be it bingo, crafts, dominos
or knitting. Also, have singers or choirs coming in to entertain the residents too which my mum loves. The meals service is first class and can be changed to suit the persons needs. Special mention to the cleaning staff who work to keep the home spotless. Everyone together makes my mum's stay and our visits so pleasing. Thank you all.

What a wonderful friendly place. All staff are exceptional, nothing is too much trouble for them. You can tell they all love their job and residents. So kind and friendly, lots of places for family to sit and talk to their relatives. Clean and bright. Such a warm atmosphere. Residents can make their
own choices with meals, making them feel listened to and their views taken into consideration. Family are always made to feel welcome. Thank you for such a kind and compassionate home.

When my mum went into a care home in July in 2023 my mum and our family were devastated. At the time we had no choice of where she went but it did not take long to realise that the home she had been placed in did not meet her needs. After some research, we decided to take a look at Simonsfeild.
I was
taken aback by what I saw. The place was very clean and all the staff and residents we came in to contact with all seemed really happy and relaxed. The bedroom we were shown was large, light, warm and the atmosphere was really pleasant. A few months on and Mum is at Simonsfeild. The staff are a credit to their profession and treat residents with dignity and respect and work with the family for the best outcomes for Mum. My mum enjoys the food which she can have in her room or in the restaurant and has come on so much since her move to Simonsfeild and is looking better than she has for a long time. I can not express my gratitude enough to the manager and staff for the fantastic job they do.
Reply from Debbie Smith, Manager at Simonsfield Care HomeThank you very much for your lovely review, the staff work exceptionally hard and I am so pleased all their hard work is paid off with such good feedback, your mother is a pleasure to care for.

My mum unfortunately had to go into residential care, but fortunately, there was a place for her at Simonsfield. The excellent, caring staff cannot be praised enough; they are caring and thoughtful and treat residents with total respect. They keep the family up to date with anything they need to know
and always welcome you with a smile. From the very first meeting with the excellent manager and the equally excellent lady in the office, nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately, Mum recently passed away, and again, the staff could not have been more helpful. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Initially worried about my Mother's suitability for care home residency. I now know I worried needlessly. Simonsfield staff have been fantastic. Great place, great staff, combined with the aspects of safety and security I doubt my mother could have fitted in better. Many Thank.

Me and my sister are very happy with the care and support of all the staff at Simonsfield. They go above and beyond to make sure my mum has everything she needs to make her life comfortable and happy. Also, they support me and my sister and contact us to keep us updated with anything we need. I would
like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for everything they do, it takes a lot of stress and worry off our heads. Also, I would like to thank the manager, housekeeper and receptionist.

Whenever I have visited Dad, and it varies in the time, sometimes morning, sometimes afternoon, I am always welcomed by staff. Dad always presents clean and that's hard to do as he is completely blind. The atmosphere in the home is lovely, happy and friendly. Staff always appear to be encouraging residents
to join in activities. Dad's room and the general appearance is always very clean and smelling nice. You do have to wait at the door for entering and leaving, totally understood. There is always plenty of staff who are willing and present as very competent. Overall, I am delighted I have the peace of mind my blind father is so well cared for, as are we. Thank you.

We are delighted with our mum's care at Simonsfield. Choosing a home is a difficult decision and we're very pleased we chose this one. The staff are amazing, they're always approachable, helpful and it's clear to see they truly care about their residents. Simonsfield is spotlessly clean and a lovely
environment. The rooms are cosy and spacious, with the communal rooms all having a really homely feel. I would highly recommend this home to any family struggling to decide who to trust with the care of their family member. Keep up the outstanding work you're doing Simonsfield!

I always find the staff at Simonsfield friendly, caring and approachable about any issues I may have regarding the health and well-being of my father. All the residents seem to be happy, and they get along with the staff. They have events for different reasons, which include the residents and relatives
- if they wish to join in. These events are always enjoyed by all.

In December 2022, my mum of 90, with a variety of care needs, could no longer live independently in her own home. Following several falls, we reluctantly sought assessment for a respite placement at Simonsfield Care Home. We genuinely cannot thank the manager of Simonsfield and her entire team there
enough! From day one, we have been impressed with the standard of management, cleanliness, friendliness, care and compassion from the entire team. Meals are of a very high standard, catering for individual needs and preferences, activities are varied and organised regularly, and socialising is encouraged. It really is a home-from-home, not clinical at all, special touches throughout the building such as street names, photos on room doors, there's even a hairdresser in there! Very comfortable indeed. I honestly believe, my mum is now in the best place, and we are currently seeking a permanent place. Well done, Simonsfield, be very proud of what you are achieving together.
Reply from Debbie Smith, Manager at Simonsfield Care HomeThank you so much for your thoughts about our home, and please be assured that we consider it a privilege to be chosen to care for your mother, who is an absolute joy. Been to the care home on six occasions now and have only been able to gain access once to see my mum. On the very first occasion, I came at 1.30, and as this was the lunch time I understood. Each time since I have arrived outside of the lunch hours and have either been turned away or nobody has answered
the door. Can the notice on the front door be changed so that the times that visiting is allowed is clearly displayed and also have staff around to answer the door!

As a family, we would highly recommend Simonsfoeld Care Home to any relative with dementia. Whilst caring for our mum, the staff go beyond expectations from the manager downwards and truly are hardworking sincere caring nurses with a "home from home" thesaurus from start to finish. We cannot recommend
Simonsfield highly enough as a safe and caring place for a loved one to stay as their understanding of dementia is exceptional with our mum.

This is a nice care home where the staff are always very attentive to Mum's needs. The home is always clean and tidy and has facilities like fans to keep the environment satisfactory. The staff are always helpful and friendly and have genuine kindness and compassion for all residents. Everyone from

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.824)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.824) out of 10 for Simonsfield Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.824 for Simonsfield Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (213 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 244 Ratings = 4.824
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Simonsfield Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 registered maximum number of service users is 12.6, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
