Overall Experience
Dad has lived at Glenroyd for over 3 years now. In that time, he has been very well cared for and is treated with dignity and respect.
After a decline earlier this year, Dad was moved to the nursing floor where he receives care that is more suitable to his needs, and the family was very thankful that he did not need to move to a different home.
The activities that are put on are second to none, and there is always something happening that engages and stimulates the residents.
The manager and staff at the home welcome feedback, and always respond positively and quickly to ensure that improvements are made where necessary.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Glenroyd to any families looking for a home for their loved ones.

The team at Glenroyd have always been 5*. First in looking after my wife for 3 years in nursing care enabling her recovery to home, and now for my mother-in-law as a full time resident. The entertainment and activities for residents is exceptional. The photos and videos of events helps us to see our loved one's enjoying themselves even when we are not able to visit.

First and foremost my mother is happy and settled in Glenroyd and tells me she feels cared for and safe. She came to Glenroyd from hospital in February 2026 following an acute illness, until then she had been living in her own home with support of her family and a private care company. She was still in fragile health but the nursing supervision and dedicated practical care from all the care assistants at Glenroyd resulted in better health and mobility.
The atmosphere at Glenroyd is always cheerful and welcoming which reassured myself, my brothers and her family from the outset. Subsequently we have been further impressed with the professional standard of care delivered by Yvonne, Debbie and the whole team. There is a distinct culture of kindness evident throughout the staff team which has further deepened our confidence in this being the very best place for my mother.

A special mention for Aga and Karen who recently created a most marvellous 100th birthday party for my Mum and family.

Thank you for your lovely comments. These mean so much to all the staff. Your mum has settled in so well, and loves to curl up on the sofa.

It is a pleasure looking after Ruth and getting to know her and all her family.

I strongly recommend the Barchester Glenroyd Care Home to anyone looking for a genuinely personal, caring and sharing home either for themselves or a loved one. The rooms and building are all purpose built and designed around the needs of the residents. All are clean, well maintained, warm and welcoming. However, it is the staff that are the most important element of what makes the Glenroyd special. The staff are all positive, friendly and genuinely caring. Residents are truly treated as individuals, and time is taken to chat, to understand and even anticipate needs, and to help new residents become part of the wider community. Visitors are always welcome and feel able to stay for as long as they feel they need; and there is always a cup of tea and some cake on hand for them too. Moving a relative into care is never an easy thing to do, but the Glenroyd really has made it as good as it can be for my mother and I.

My mum has only been in a short space of time but, by goodness, do we see a difference in her! She so much more relaxed and alert and this is all down to the staff and the lovely, welcoming feeling you get at the Glenroyd. We, as a whole family, thank you all!

The reception staff were brilliant - putting my wife at ease wtih a cup of tea and cake. Admin was thorough and efficient, and all staff from cooks, cleaners, admin and carers were lovely with her and did their best to put her at ease if she became anxious or upset. I was impressed and grateful for all that the team did for her. Thank you.

Mum was in Glenroyd Blackpool for about 5 weeks before she passed away. The staff were kind and compassionate not only to mum but to us as her family as well. We have some lovely memories and photos of her time over the Christmas period. They offered her comfort and reassurance and she was well looked after.

My mum moved to Glenroyd in August last year. It was such a hard decision to move her to 24 hour care, but wow did we make the right decision!

Mum is very well cared for, always clean and tidy. Her needs are definitely meet. The staff are amazing and my sister and I are so happy we choose Glenroyd for mum. The activities that are offered are brilliant and everyone is included.

Firstly, the young man Stephen that came to do a home visit was a lovely, kind and caring person. I can't speak more highly of him! In the care home, the staff were so attentive and caring. My mum, Marjorie, felt at ease in her surroundings, the food was lovely, and she really enjoyed her stay.

There was a young man that really was good at his job. He was Indian, such a lovely guy that made sure my mum was taken care of with refreshments, etc. Fantastic job.

My brother, John is 76 yrs. old & extremely intelligent. He has dementia and is blind so his needs are specific and he is unable to engage in many of the activities on offer. He is bored & frustrated and considers he is being kept against his will. I believe the staff work extremely hard to satisfy his needs. As a vegetarian he enjoys special meals & his room is bright & spacious. We need to give him a role within his community to boost his morale & help him to feel in control. He also needs help with the switches on the T.V., piano keyboard, talking book & radio. These would all help to improve the quality of his life but a member of staff could help to switch on.

My mum was happy to have her first care home experience & I originally felt reassured that my completely deaf mum would be looked after while I was away. I especially asked if Mum would have a TV with access to subtitles, as she is unable to hear the TV. I was told there was a TV, but there was no remote when we arrived, so we could not put the subtitles on. We were told this would be remedied, but it was never remedied & Mum told me she felt isolated.

I visit my father at Glenroyd atleast five times a week. The staff are all friendly, hard working, helpful and caring. The home is clean and the garden is fabulous. The food menu is well thought out, food is varied and tasty. The many events ensure the residents are stimulated and happy, a huge amount of effort and thought is put into the parties, seasonal activities and exercise classes. The residents have a lot of fun and it's a joy to witness.Staff build good relationships with the residents and visiting family members. This ensures family can raise matters appropriately and with confidence. My father's room is comfortable and clean, furniture items (book case, coat hooks, photo frames etc) have been added since he moved in and reflect that the staff recognise his needs, likes and character. I strongly recommend Glenroyd and feel fortunate that my father is a resident.

My brother has been in Glenroyd nursing home, Blackpool since July 2019. He is disabled after a massive stroke in 2015 and he cannot speak. He has had the best of care and affection from all staff. He has been treated with love and consideration re. his disability. All patients are included, where possible in all activities within the home. The activities and thought put in to all occasions is excellent. Recommended on all levels.

My auntie hasn't been here very long, she came here for 1 day before going back to hospital, and came back here on the 29th of January on end of life care. The home is absolutely lovely and my auntie would've loved it if she was able to experience it. The staff have been nothing short of amazing, caring for both my auntie and all of our family, who have been sat up there with her since she came in, offered sandwiches at lunchtimes, offered meals at both breakfast and dinner and even made a birthday cake for my auntie's daughter. It has honestly been amazing to feel so welcomed by all the staff. But as for the care for my auntie, we couldn't thank the staff enough for always making sure she is comfortable and content for when the time comes and thank you for allowing all of us to be with her every minute of every day. So from all of the family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you've done for her.

At a very difficult time for our family, we received a warm, caring and compassionate welcome by all staff members. We had several days there whilst we visited our family member on end of life care and the courtesy, information and respect we received from nursing staff was greatly appreciated. We were surprised to receive the generosity of the home in regular high quality refreshments that kept us going at a difficult time.

Our mother had a bad experience at another care home and we wish we had found Barchester Glenroyd sooner.

She suffers from severe dementia so needs a high level of care. The level of professionalism is first-class but also consistent which is tantamount to not just the training but the type of staff employed. The management are always friendly, helpful and approachable but the real stars are the carers who don't just provide care but genuinely seem to care. Always willing to go the extra mile for a resident. It sounds clichè but it's like an extended family who have also made my dad's daily visits wonderful, warm and enjoyable. Myself and my family cannot recommend this home highly enough. In fact, I struggle to find anything negative to say, possibly that you have to wait a bit longer than expected to get in, during busy periods. The biggest compliment you can pay Glenroyd is that you can go in anytime unannounced and it's the same friendly welcome, high standards, with superb activities/events.

It was a very difficult decision for my dad to go into a home permanently but I'm glad we chose Barchester Glenroyd. Dad had a bit of an unsettled start but the staff all got to know him, always had time to chat to him and have a laugh (Dad has vascular dementia but still has his sense of humour!) The staff and some of the residents and their families have become like our extended family. Dad has now settled well and enjoys the food, the entertainment (there's always something going on to keep the residents engaged) and he receives amazing care.

The whole Glenroyd team work very hard and everyone is really friendly. An amazing team! Thank you all for your continued care and support.
