My mum came to Barchester Glenroyd in the summer and unfortunately due to dementia has some unsettled days, the staff are so caring and I feel I can approach any one of them at any time to discuss anything. The activities team, well there is one young lady that goes the extra mile, my mum always looks so happy when she is with her, she really is one in a million and works so hard to involve everyone in activities. I never in a million years thought I would be happy with any care home for my mum but I am very happy with Glenroyd, the staff also make me feel very welcome and involve me in everything.

My mother received appalling, inadequate care at Glenroyd Blackpool. Issues needed to be consistently raised with the home to try and get my mother the care and attention she needed. My family and I found the care home incapable of taking care of even some basic needs, and were oblivious to their role in keeping my mother safe which resulted in her having several serious accidents. The accidents would not have happened if she had received the assistance she required, promised to me and the family before she became a resident. This home, management, promised a lot but never delivered. Assurances were often given to me by phone about my mother which I later found had been inaccurate or untrue. The home was mismanaged and had untrained staff on a dementia unit who left the residents unsupervised. I often entered the unit to discover there were no staff to be found, residents were left alone to wander the corridor.

My mother deserved much better.

Mum moved into Glenroyd in October. The level of care she receives is outstanding, and all of the staff are kind and considerate. The rooms are lovely, spacious and kept clean/tidy. There is a lovely conservatory to sit in with refreshments. There is a big emphasis on keeping the residents active, entertained and mentally stimulated.

The activity calendar throughout December was amazing. Mum especially loved the Christmas Fair and the children from the local nursery coming in to visit. A fabulous Christmas party was held at The Savoy, a great excuse to get dressed up! The staff are what makes the home so special, everyone is kind and caring. Special mention to one particular, he keeps mum on her toes and is very approachable if we have any questions about mum. I really can't recommend Glenroyd enough, I don't believe mum could be happier anywhere else.

My husband was very well cared for when he spent a week at Glenroyd for respite care. The staff were always very caring and supportive and it felt a 'very happy' place - nothing was too much trouble. He enjoyed his meals very much and his appetite improved whilst he was there. I know he would be happy to stay at Glenroyd again.

I honestly, hand on heart, can not praise this care home enough. My mum has only been a resident here for five weeks (previous care home two years), and she has literally come on leaps and bounds in such a short time. My mum is on the top floor of the building, and the manager, nurses, carers and even the cleaners, are all so, so very attentive, happy, helpful, and have the patience of saints; it really is a wonder they don't fall over themselves, trying to please. There is no comparison to our previous experience. It's so well managed. These people deserve medals, literally.

My dad has been a resident at Barchester Glenroyd for 6 months now. He has settled in extremely well, which is very reassuring as this is his first permanent care home. The staff have been very welcoming both to my dad and visiting family members. Nothing is too much trouble, and there are always plenty and varied activities on offer to keep residents entertained and active. Thank you for looking after my dad so well.

My mother has been a resident since August 2020. Sadly she passed away on the 28th of June. The love, care and compassion shown to my mum have been outstanding. I can’t thank every single member of staff enough. They couldn’t have done more for my mum, myself and my family. I have to say a special thank you to one member of staff in particular, who my mum adored. He was always so kind and gentle with her and I’m sure she could be quite challenging at times.

Thank you again to all the staff; I’m really going to miss visiting my care home family.

My mum passed away in the care of Glenroyd. The staff were passionate and professional and met all my mum's needs. Staff supported my needs, and I was able to be involved in any decision and informed always. The care home was well maintained, clean and peaceful. Overall, the standards were high and safe, and my mum was treated with dignity throughout her care. Sadly my mum passed away but was cared for in safe hands.

My mum was in Glenroyd for the last few weeks of her life. The team there are second to none, more caring people I could not have hoped for.

From my first visit, I felt safe leaving my mum, knowing the care she got was what she wanted and needed. Everybody had nice words to say, from residents to carers. I visited other homes where this definitely wasn't the case, and on one of my last visits, I took a suitcase in with a few extra things and said jokingly, that I'd come to stay a few days; they smiled and said I was welcome, but my thoughts then were, in reality, I could have, I been in worse hotels! The food always smells nice - I tasted it a few times, and cups of tea or coffee are always there. A wonderful place which I without any dought recommend. Even the garden with a plant layout for the Jubilee and a lovely sun trap on windy days, so thank you all at Glenroyd for doing a great job. PS, Leo, my dog, loved it too -dog treats provided even for him.

My husband has been in Glenroyd for over a year now and has been looked after very well. The staff are all lovely and can't do enough for my husband, but our family as well. They all work very hard as sometimes they are short-staffed, but always ready to help and get things sorted quickly if there's any issues. I would recommend to come and have a look around if your loved one needs a home.

It's been just 12 months since visiting my friend three weeks ago who had previously been a resident in another care home. My eyes were opened to just how caring and considerate this new home was not just to residents which are their priority but to visitors and attention to detail getting to know their residents through family, friends and conversations they give you time. I have seen how clean the premises are and saw for myself the Fish and Chip Friday cooked just like a 5star restaurant, well prepared and served. They let me know when items are needed to keep their residents looking well and up to date. Overall it is a pleasure making contact.

My father has been at Glenroyd for the last 18 months 14 of these have been on the EMI ward, the staff have been both caring and professional and any issues we have had they have dealt with them as quickly as possible. The only fault that we have is when you enter the unit there is a very strong smell of urine as there is carpet in the main hallway and in some rooms which are not very good on that sort of unit, but the manager in charge is trying to get more suitable flooring put in and is waiting for the ok from the management. They do clean it regularly but the smell doesn't go that is why I have put satisfactory on the cleaning ratings.

At the end of 2021, my Mum's health and her degree of dementia worsened and she was transferred to the EMI unit at Glenroyd. The staff on the EMI unit have been outstanding in so many ways. They settled her into new surroundings and are friendly and caring to both Mum and myself. The pandemic has left care homes with staffing shortages, the staff are clearly under great pressure, yet they remain cheerful, professional, and helpful despite being faced with many daily challenges.
Unfortunately, my mother had a further stroke which involved a hospital stay and a massive deterioration in her condition. She was discharged with demanding levels of nursing requirements.
We still do not know how much she may improve or not in the coming weeks. I know that the staff really do care about her and will do all they can to give her the best quality of life.

I am so thankful to the EMI team for all they do; it takes very special people to take on such demanding roles.

Short version. Mum was here for about six years, we have laid her to rest this week. After years of unexplained bruises, falls and her wedding ring going missing she is finally at peace. Two years of loneliness during the pandemic and moving to the nursing floor came to an end when we were met at the door despite restrictions being lifted! They had unpacked her personal belongings so that clothes could be packed into cases. We were denied the right to pack her room and get any kind of closure in the place where she passed. Our plans to leave the personal belongings photos etc to a later time were changed by the staff who decided to go through them. My lasting thoughts from Glenroyd are she’s gone now here’s the stuff just go!

I have been a resident at the Glenroyd Care Home for nearly two years now. I entered the care home in a very poor state of health. But due to the care and professional approach of the staff, I feel much better. The management and staff are much more like family to me. And always greet me with a smile and concern for my health. Mum entered Glenroyd at the latter part of 2021. She, unfortunately, developed Covid in September 2021, was hospitalised, and then developed a form of delirium which affected her mental capacity rather quickly, so much so that she wasn’t able to return home to her previous independent lifestyle. It was apparent that Mum needed nursing care as well as social care and as a family, it was a terrible shock to witness the changes in her. Glenroyd has been absolutely excellent in their care of Mum, she’s treated with respect and kindness and this makes you feel confident she is being looked after so well. It’s difficult to make decisions for your parent and place them in other peoples care, but all the staff members at Glenroyd give you a feeling of trust in what they’re doing for her and that in itself is most comforting for Mum and her family too. Thank you.

i would like to put on Public Record that the care my mother receives at Glennroyd is very good and the staff are extremely knowledgeable about my mother's condition and treat her with respect and professionalism and with a high degree of duty of care and interact with her for stimulus.
The staff are always polite and helpful and show interest in anything I inform them about my mother.
Also they ask about my welfare and ask if they can do anything to help enrich my mothers life.

When ringing the home the 1st point of contact is the receptionists who are very helpful, polite and cheerful.

Away from the home, I enjoy spending time with my dog, Ted, who is a Golden Retriever. I also enjoy following my football team, Tottenham Hotspur.
