Glen Tanar Residential Home is situated in a quiet residential area close to the Queen’s Promenade in Bispham. The home is convenient for a short stroll to the local shops or the promenade. The home provides care for just 21 ladies and gentlemen. The home has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

The home has a large spacious lounge on the ground floor which is tastefully decorated with comfortable chairs. This room has a beautiful large bay window from which the residents can relax and enjoy the views of the garden and watch the passers-by. The dining room is located on the ground floor adjacent to the lounge. The lounge and dining areas are open plan which allows the residents to move easily around.

A choice of menu is available at each meal. Special diets can be catered for. Each meal is freshly prepared using only the finest ingredients. The menu is both wholesome and varied, providing a well-balanced diet.

A digital care planning system is used to create person-centred care plans for each resident. A Care App, which is part of the digital care system, enables care staff to record care notes, which automatically update charts, reports, care plans and many other features.

The bedrooms are tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard. Residents can bring in small items of furniture and personal items to personalise their bedrooms. The home has two shower rooms fitted with facilities to make them suitable for those residents with mobility difficulties.

There is a beautiful lawned garden at the front of the home. A new decking area has recently been added to the front of the home. There is also a small enclosed garden at the rear of the home. Residents can easily access the decking area and the enclosed garden area from the lounge. During the summer months, residents like to enjoy the sunshine, a drink and socialising in the garden areas.

What I appreciate about the Glen Tanner is the kindness and friendliness of the staff. They're always very engaged with my mother and also give her space when she needs it too. There seems to be little turnover of staff which helps with continuity of care. Admin with Helen is also straight forward and
I've had no issues getting hold of her, whenever I've called the home. I feel confident my mother's getting good care, this brings peace of mind especially as I live a long way away.

My father in law has been a resident at Glen Tanar for over 4 years now.
The care that he receives is outstanding and the attitude of the staff is unbelievable.
They are so welcoming to not only my father-in-law but also us as a family. Nothing is to much trouble and as a family we 100% know my father
in law is given the best care possible.
Glen Tannar is homely and we would highly recommed to anyone looking for a loving home for a loved one

We very reluctantly had to put my mum into a care home . We asked around for recommendations and Glen Tanar had the most positive feedback. So she has become a resident there. And what a difference we saw immediately in my mum. The staff without exception are friendly, polite , and give their all
. They have singers, entertainment and daytrips .nothing is too much trouble for them . The food is fantastic. My mum loves it ,and once again they have achieved a 5 star award. What more could you ask for . I can sleep at night knowing she has the best care and attention she deserves. The difference in her is amazing. I feel like I have my mum back . Thank you for everything.

My experience of Glen Tanner continues to be a positive experience. On my visits I find staff to be welcoming and caring towards myself, other residents and families.
Mum's room is beautiful. Care is taken by staff to ensure it is clean and her special belongings and memories are visible which is of
great comfort to us all.
Staff keep us updated and informed on activities and how Mum is. They are fully supportive to us as a family. We truly appreciate all staff's efforts to ensure Mum is very well cared for.

My mother spent over 4 years at Glen Tanar before she passed away recently. The staff were all amazing throughout her stay, involving in her numerous activities and outings to keep her fully engaged. In her final weeks when her health was failing the team constantly looked after her and could not
have done more for her in the level of care they provided.
Throughout her stay I was confident she was being well looked after and I was always made extremely welcome when I visited.

I Always turn up unannounced and have always been greeted warmly. I Feel my Mum is cared for at all times and staff attend to all her needs well. Her room is homely and we have brought in some of her own furniture to help her settle. She says the food is good and although she may not join in with some
activities, is always encouraged to do so. They have different artists on and go on outings at times. Staff are always approachable and friendly. I feel confident in the care she receives and talk to staff about her care needs often. It's a huge relief to find a home that all the family are happy with.

Mum has lived at Glen Tenar a year now & she feels at home here. The home gives exemplary, impressive, attentive & loving care. This place is definitely a home from home Care Home. Family are made to feel welcome at any time of the day and we feel like we are part of the Glen Tanar family too.
Glen Tenar keep us consistently updated on mums care & involved me in the Care Plan. We feel we can approach the management & staff with any ideas or questions & are avidly listened to on any aspect of Mum's care.
Residents in the home always appear happy & are part of a big family.
We always leave mum knowing she is in good, capable hands with members of staff who actually do care. They truly are exceptional & staff feel like friends.
Thank you to the Manager & staff - you are the best, we wouldn't want Mum living anywhere else.

My grandad moved to Glen Tanar November 2025 and since and I am incredibly grateful for the care and kindness shown to my grandad by everyone at Glen Tanar. The staff have gone above and beyond to make him feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home. They treat him with genuine respect, patience, and
warmth, and it gives my whole family such peace of mind knowing he is so well looked after.
The atmosphere is welcoming and positive, and it's clear how much effort is put into not just meeting residents' needs, but helping them enjoy life every day. It means more to us than we can put into words. We couldn't have wished for a better place for him to call his new home!

This is an amazing care home with excellent staff who go above and beyond to look after their residents. All the staff at Glen Taner are so caring, they keep you updated on everything that happens within the home. The food is excellent and bedrooms are very comfortable. They provide lots of games, outings
and different events which family and friends can attend. We couldn't ask for anything else for our mum. We were unsure about putting mum in a care home after she'd been in hospital after a nasty fall, but it was the best decision we made. Mum has been at Glen Taner for over 3 years and is very happy there.

My mum has been in the home just over 3 months. It was a really hard decision but my mums dementia has progressed and my dad was struggling to keep her at home. The understanding and support from the manager and staff made the transition so much easier and we started with a 3 month trial. There have
been a few small issues which is to be expected but I raised any concerns with the manager and they were resolved easily. My mum was struggling with the change at first especially sleeping, but the staff have all been patient and understanding, even going out of their way to make her feel safe and put her at ease. We find the home very homely and family of residents are welcome all the time and anytime. They have great engaging activities and encourage the residents to take part. The food is cooked by a chef and is healthy and nutritious with good menu options. The home is clean and safe. It is very reassuring to know my mum is being well looked after by caring staff she is now very settled

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.918)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.918) out of 10 for Glen Tanar is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.918 for Glen Tanar is calculated as follows: ( (369 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 402 Ratings = 4.918
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glen Tanar is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
