Overall Experience

Mum was admitted to Pennystone Court on the 10th of April 2024. We the family were very apprehensive about if and how she would settle as she was adamant she didn't want to go into a care home. Her admission was carefully planned and supported by the management of the home. Five weeks on and the transition from home to care home has been incredibly smooth. The family can relax in the knowledge mum is receiving first-rate care. She looks healthier and having regular showers, cleaner. She no longer has to negotiate stairs as she lives on the ground floor. I have visited several times and am very impressed with the quality and care the staff deliver. We are so pleased we chose Pennystone Court and would highly recommend it.

My aunty has been a resident at Pennystone Court for eight years. She receives outstanding care and would not be as happy as she is if she wasn't so well looked after. All staff members are warm, thoughtful and considerate, not only to my aunty but also to her family. Living a distance away, working and more recently living in/caring for my father, I have been unable to visit as much as I would have liked. It has been one less worry to know my aunty is in the best possible hands. I am very grateful to the activities co-ordinator who keeps me in touch with my aunty via video call and she is kept busy and happy with the many planned activities.

I visited Mum today - as always, the staff could not do enough to make the visit enjoyable. Tea and cakes are served in the garden for us. Every staff member I met was friendly as always! So grateful Mum is here at Pennystone Court, loved and cared for. Thank you.

Mother passed away this month. Thank you to all the staff at Pennystone Court for all the love and care that you gave her. We know that Mum felt safe and well looked after at Pennystone. The time we spent at Mum's bedside in her final days really showed us just how hard you all work and how good you are with the residents. We observed just how skilful, patient and supportive you all are. It's not just the frontline carers but all the admin, kitchen, cleaners, laundry and maintenance people. The chaplain was also very comforting. It's no wonder you deservedly won an award for best dementia home in the UK. Thank you.

The care my mum has received at Pennystone Court over the last 3 1/2 years has been excellent. The staff are amazing, kind and cheerful. No matter the situation they engage with all residents and all activities, providing stimulation and enjoyment daily. The home is comfortable, clean and well-maintained. The food is really good. I feel comfortable in the knowledge that my mum is safe and extremely well looked after, and loved by all the staff.

It was a very hard decision for us as a family to place our wonderful mum into care. Pennystone Court has been wonderful. The care of the staff there has been amazing. They love our mum and she loves them, and she tells them all the time! It was the worst time to do it, for everyone, but they have kept her safe and well. Thank you so much, you all know who you are and we as a family appreciate you all. Thank you.

Dad became a resident at Pennystone Court after a spell in hospital. From the first day, he was made to feel welcome and we, as his family, were too. The manager and all of the carers are totally professional, efficient and so very caring. We feel happy that Dad is in the right place where his needs are recognised and he is treated as part of the Pennystone family.

Overall Experience

The quality of care at Pennystone Court is unbeatable. The staff are incredibly compassionate and committed to giving the residents the best care possible, and regularly go above and beyond. I cannot express what a weight it has been off my mind to know that my grandmother is in their care, particularly during recent lockdowns, when in-person visits haven't been possible. Every member of staff cares for the residents as though they are a member of their own family, and their compassion extends to residents' family members too - there is a wonderful sense of community. The team at Pennystone work hard to ensure the residents live happy, fulfilled and enriched lives, and the activities coordinator does a wonderful job of planning activities for them. The home itself is a welcoming and very comfortable environment, with fantastic resources and beautiful gardens, which we have appreciated all the more during outdoor visits while social distancing restrictions have been in place.

My grandma has been here in the most difficult time due to covid. She has settled in amazingly well due to the time, effort and care from all the staff. Between the family, we all speak to her on the phone every day and she is always full of praise for the girls. Thank you, everyone!

My friend's mum lives at Pennystone Court and has done for about 3 years. Each time I have visited I have been mightily impressed not just with the actual home but the staff are the most caring, patient and lovely people. The residents all seem really happy and nothing appears to be too much trouble. It is clean and very well maintained with beautiful gardens and a lovely homely atmosphere. If ever I find myself in the same position I would love to live in a home just like this.

Mum has been in Pennystone Court for just over a year now. My sister and I can’t praise the staff highly enough as everyone, no matter what their position, goes the extra mile in looking after her and making sure she is happy. Pennystone Court has become a real home for mum and its staff her family, and they feel like our family, too, as they care for how we feel and do their utmost to alleviate any worries we might have. The home itself is cosy with a wonderfully happy atmosphere. The staff have all worked so hard throughout the pandemic, always coming up with new ideas to keep the residents entertained. We shall be eternally grateful to them all for caring for our mum as much as we do and for giving us peace of mind, knowing that she couldn’t be in a better place.
