Overall Experience

The care at Bollingbroke House is excellent - the staff are very attentive and helpful. They do everything they can to enrich the lives of the residents and include them in activities. Nothing is too much trouble. The home is always clean and the residents praise the food.

My review of Bollingbroke House in the last month, it has been difficult for us, as a family, seeing my sister in bed a lot of days but we find some of the staff really lovely and pleasant and really aim to please. I think there should be a little more activities for residents. The cleaners are always busy, rooms are lovely and clean. Think there could be a little more entertainment for residents.

Overall Experience
My experience of visiting my sister at Bollingbroke House, I am truly happy with the way she is looked after. She can be difficult at times, but they all know her personality.

Today, I attended the Christmas and entertainment party, and they all went far beyond my expectations and made the day very special. Myself and the rest of the family are happy with the way she is looked after. The home is clean and welcoming, and the food they serve is absolutely amazing. I couldn't wish for a better place for my sister to be. She is happy there, and if she is happy, we are all happy. A remarkable place. Deserves a ten out of ten.

Excellent service from all staff. Clean rooms, clean home.
Staff are helpful. Don't smell of urine like some other homes.

Staff also put different activities on over Halloween and Christmas for residents and their families.

In the time my uncle has spent at Bollingbroke House I have found the staff that I have dealt with to be very friendly and helpful, they have kept me updated on his wellbeing.

Due to Covid I have only been able to visit face to face on one occasion so far which was only allowed after I had had a negative test, which they carried out at the home. The visit was very safe in a room with only me and my uncle which was sanitized before we entered and when we left. My uncle was very clean, tidy and content within himself. He can get anxious and struggle with new people but has settled in here quite fast for him. I am so far very happy with the care and attention that he is receiving.

Overall Experience

Our mother was made a permanent resident in June this year when she became unable to look after herself any longer after a serious fall. She was welcomed into the home and we can only heap praise on all the staff at Bollingbroke from the manager through to cleaners who have made her life as comfortable and pleasant as can be at these very trying times. Everything they have done has been wonderful and we as a family feel that our mother could not be in a better or safer place. They go out of their way to be helpful and they encourage Mum to participate and join in with the various activities throughout the day. We can only say a very big thank you to each and every one of the staff for looking after our mum.

The staff I have meet seam very friendly and nice. My mum says that she has a nice room. However concerned that they don’t respond to emails or messenger. A good level of communication is needed since we are not able to see my mother.

Review from Angela E (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 20 March 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My Grandad has been a resident since last year. Knowing that he is being cared for in such a supportive, caring and professional but warm home makes me feel very happy. I live a long distance from my grandad so knowing he is safe and being cared for to such a high standard gives me peace of mind. When I do visit I am always made to feel very welcome, offered a drink and found a space to sit with Grandad. If I have any questions the staff always take time to discuss them with me. Every time I phone to ask how he is, I am greeted in a warm and friendly way staff always give me detailed information about how he is, what he has been doing etc. They also ask if I would like to speak to him and pass the phone to him for a quick chat. The staff all take the time to get to know him, his social and medical requirements. They take great care of him, noting the small things that make such a difference to him. The manager is very professional but at the same time very kind, caring and warm.

My father has been cared for by the manager and his amazing team since August 2019. He has dementia and other complex care needs and the care that he receives on a daily basis is excellent. The peace of mind that my Mum, my sister and I have, knowing that our loved one is being cared for in a family-type setting with patience and respect is invaluable. There is lots of love and laughter here and all of the team are welcoming and genuinely interested in the emotional as well as the physical well-being of the residents. The decision that any family makes to have their loved one cared for outside of their home is very difficult and emotional, but being able to witness the quality of care that they receive here, helps us enormously.

Information about the resident doesn't get passed on to relatives very often, i.e. how they have been.

Laundry disappears and clothing goes missing.

Mum needed care after losing my dad. We tried to keep her at home as long as we could but her dementia got worse and she wouldn't let me help her.

It's peace of mind knowing she is looked after and she seems happy and settled. She eats and sleeps well, which she wasn't at home. Thank you to everyone at Bollingbroke for caring for her.
