My Mum has just moved here from Oakwood Centre. She has been made to feel really welcome. Has a lovely little bedroom. Suffering from dementia it is great to see her so settled and joining in with the things as she had become so isolated at home.

My mum has lived at Sandygate for almost 2 years now. She lives with Parkinson's-Dementia.
Her personal needs have changed. She now needs more help with her day to day living, after speaking with the manager I was reassured and very relieved to know my mum could move onto the dementia floor.
My mum settled into the home straight away and has throughout her time here received excellent care from all the hardworking and exceptional staff.
The home has a relaxed and calming atmosphere and choices for the residents are plentiful across all aspects.

Highly recommended.

My mum stayed at Sandygate for a weeks respite. I have to say the care she received was excellent. The staff treated her with dignity and patience. The food was very good and served to them appetisingly. My mum has tried a number of care homes but this is the only one she is happy to return to. They are a wonderful team who work hard to meet the needs of their residents.

My mum and I are very happy with the care she receives at Sandygate. The staff are kind, friendly and they really do care about their residents. Management and staff communicate both verbally and by telephone if there are any problems with mum.

Cleanliness at the home is excellent, activities are very good, residents can choose their meals from a menu and are delicious. Overall, a first class home.

My mother has been with you for six months now. She is very settled here.
I cannot praise the staff enough.
Every one of them has been so good to my mum, they are so polite and caring.
I have got to know nearly every one of them on a first name basis.
I have always been kept in touch with if any problems arose.
The manager is extremely approachable and a very helpful person.

A big thumbs up from me.

My mum moved into Sandygate in December 2018 having been unable to manage at her home any more due to her dementia.
Staff were very caring and soon had her settled in. Having not slept or eaten properly for some time at her home, despite having carers 4 times a day and myself and family calling when we could, the staff had to wake her for breakfast on her first morning! She has settled in over the last 4 months very well and now really likes it there. She always tells me how well looked after she is whenever I call or visit her.

Her only complaints are that sometimes her toast is a little too well done at breakfast or the pastry was a little too thick on her dessert. I can't tell you how much I like getting complaints from her like that after the issues we had when she was still at home. I highly recommend Sandygate.

I have lived at this care home for 10 years in December. It was the best thing I ever did. I have no family and my dear husband and family are all dead. Hospital advised me to come here following a heart attack and I am now quite disabled. I need a lot of care and I receive it at this home.

Mum began residing at the home in November last year having visited the home before she needed to consider residential care and being impressed. Since she has been in residence the home has provided her with excellent care and the staff are really caring and so far I haven’t met one who doesn't go the extra mile. I visited one day and staff were attending to her in her room, I was stood outside and could hear the staff interacting with her, they had no idea I was there, and I was so pleased at the way they spoke to her and encouraged her. The home has recently had a new manager appointed and as a result, I have noticed a number of further improvements in how the home is being run, in particular with attention to detail in areas which tend to get missed but as we know often it’s the little things that will make a huge difference. As a registered nurse for 40 years and having been a manager of large care homes myself I highly recommend this home.

My dad stayed here for a short period of respite and the facilities, activities and food were all very good.

The staff were excellent in exceeding our expectations of customer care. They treated everyone as individuals and both with respect and a high standard of care. It is evident that for the ones we came into contact with this was a vocation not just a job.

Should we need to use a care home in the future, we would have no hesitation in coming back here.

I would like to thank the staff at this home for the care of my father who has Alzheimer's Disease and Vascular Dementia. It is the first time he has stayed in any care home setting and we were very anxious about his stay and how he would cope. We were heartened to know that he was very well cared for and treated with dignity and understanding. The staff were very kind and helpful.

My mother has recently moved from her own home to Sandygate and all the staff have supported both my mother and myself to ensure that the transition has been as smooth as possible. The environment at the care home is cheerful and helpful as well as efficient. There is always a member of staff around to help and the deputy manager and the manager have both been approachable and available.

My dad has been a resident at Sandygate since December 2016 when he went in initially for emergency respite care. I can say from that first day all the staff have been lovely, they made me and my sister at ease at a time of great distress when we had to leave dad there. Dad is now a permanent resident and we could not be happier with the care dad receives. Not only have the staff been great with my dad but they have been a great support to me and family when at times we have found the process of placing dad into care very emotional and frustrating, nothing has been too much trouble.

My Mother has been a resident of this care home for the last few years and the management has changed so many times, the care staff have always been so lovely and loving towards her and the new manager can not do enough for her, after a short time in hospital my Mum can't wait to get back home, the manager has been great with getting her back home and I can't thank her enough, she really has gone the extra mile.

I can recommend Sandygate Care Home to anyone, we have 100% piece of mind knowing she is safe and well looked after so thank you all so much.

My Mum has been a resident of Sandygate for the last 6 years and we have seen some changes in management over this time, this has caused quite a lot of uncertainty for the staff but through it all, I can honestly say that Mum's care has not been affected.
The new manager is very approachable and actively seeks feedback from both residents and their families to improve the overall experience for all concerned.
The care staff are fantastic and they take the time to get to know each resident's individual needs.

The meals provided are of a very high quality and there is a daily programme of activities that the residents can get involved in should they so wish. I would not hesitate to recommend Sandygate Care Home to anyone looking for a good, safe, welcoming home for their loved one.

It is unfortunate that there have been numerous changes of management over the past few years causing instability and insecurity amongst residents and staff, and concerns for the residents' relatives and friends.

However, throughout these unstable times care staff and kitchen and domestic staff have worked extremely hard and kept the 'ship afloat'. The present Manager has been in place from the beginning of the year and appears to be fully committed to her role and intends to improve standards with all aspects of the Care Home.

Mum was resident for 2 years. She was well cared for.
She settled very well after moving from her own home. The staff took time and made her adjustment very easy, always friendly, attentive and caring.

Would recommend this home to any one considering the same difficult decision I had to make.
