I have always had a warm, friendly welcome when I come to visit. Staff are professional and efficient. The conservatory is comfortable and airy. My relative is happy today. A pleasant experience to meet today. One lady is always welcoming and encouraging.

I have been unable to enter the home other than the conservatory due to the coronavirus restrictions, so I am not able to comment on my friend's room or facilities. What I can say is that the staff I have contact with are all helpful, courteous and caring. My friend is very antisocial and refuses to mix with other residents. The staff continue to try to get her to take part in the social activities.

I visit our friend occasionally, but have only seen her in the conservatory (very well furnished and comfortable) due to the virus. She does not complain about anything and often compliments the staff for their care.

In my opinion, the residents are well cared for and respected. The home is clean and well cared for and the staff are friendly and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble and the management truly care for the well-being of the residents, staff, the quality of the home and how it is run.

My grandad came into Beechy Knoll from the hospital after not being able to manage at home. As a family, we were upset at the thought of a residential home, but since coming, he's a lot happier and looks really well in himself. We couldn't be happier.

Beechy Knoll has a wonderful team of staff who genuinely care. They show compassion and a genuine fondness for residents. I feel my father is well cared for and has settled since his arrival at Beechy Knoll. Throughout restrictions due to Covid-19 restricted visiting has been difficult for families, Beechy Knoll have done the best they can to allow families to visit their loved ones whilst maintaining a safe environment and shown understanding and support during these difficult times. They have an excellent events

coordinator who goes above and beyond for the residents and shows great empathy for residents and families. There are many others too who have the kind of compassion you want for your loved ones, three members of staff in particular and many others who work at a Beechy Knoll care in a very personal way for residents which is lovely to see. The staff are a credit to the manager. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Beechy Knoll which feels more like a family environment.

Throughout the four years that my mother was at Beechy Knoll, the care was of the highest standard. The team are diligent and professional, with a huge dollop of humour mixed in there. During my mother's final days, the care that both, she, and the family received was of the highest order.

I did not agree with the way the alarm system worked in my room. A carer came in to ask what was the problem, you advised them, then a different carer came in and had to explain all over again. Had a fall and it took two hours for someone to come and see to me.

Staff at Beechy Knoll have an excellent rapport with people of all ages, bringing their attention to detail with the residents and their family members.
Communication, analytical and people skills are excellent from the staff and the care they have provided to my grandmother has been tremendous, giving us much needed peace of mind. The staff introduce lots of fun activities which without a doubt brings much happiness and laughter to all the residents, daily.

The staff firmly believe that every resident receives care that is completely tailored to their individual needs, regardless of any medical condition they may have. The dementia care they’ve delivered to my grandmother has been carefully balanced, ensuring that she never feels like her independence or dignity has been compromised. Above all, the dedicated staff work with professionalism, warmth, compassion and understanding, delivering person-centred dignified care. Forever grateful to all staff for the 5-star service they provide.

Our dad had cared for Mum for 8 years, is in his eighties, was in poor health at the time and felt he could no longer do this, thankfully due to a good network of support from Social Care Services part of the decision was a positive that Mum needed 24 hour care. Our mum is a resident at Beechy Knoll in Sheffield were she is cared for with compassion, dignity and respect from all members of the team. We have experienced second to none communication from management and staff throughout and we feel that this is due to good leadership and team work in the home, and when you visit it feels like the home is hugging you, that is why we also chose Beechy Knoll. Beechy Knoll has a strong feeling of community spirit and inclusion for all residents and well organised activities.

Massive thank you to all and how Beechy Knoll have worked hard to keep Mum safe in what are very difficult times they are all our heroes.

The level of care given by the staff is consistently excellent. Much thought and effort go into providing activities and entertainment for the residents in addition to their personal care needs. We were able to furnish my mother's room with her own furniture and effects, which made things so much more familiar and comfortable for her. She is thriving in the relaxed, and homely environment created by the staff and management at Beechy Knoll.
In the current challenging environment resulting from the Covid crisis, Beechy Knoll has shown much innovation in keeping residents connected with loved ones and, with no Covid cases to date, much dedication and determination.

Thank you all for looking after Mum so well.

My Mum went into Beechy Knoll for respite care on May 22nd 2018 but sadly her health deteriorated and she was put on 'end of life care' on 8th June.
The care she received was absolutely excellent.
Staff were caring and friendly and Mum was always kept clean.

She passed away in Beechy Knoll on June 27th and the staff couldn't have been more kind and thoughtful.

My mother was cared for with dignity and attention to detail by a committed, professional and happy staff team.
She was known to all staff including those involved in cleaning, catering, and management.
Facilities were good, clean and secure at all times and Mum was treated as an individual, always carefully dressed and allowed to develop her own routines, friends, and activities.
The atmosphere of the home is a happy one with management both leading and involved with day to day care.
Staff have clear roles and responsibilities and are always available to help.
Above all, I commend the level of care and warmth shown by staff in roles and at all levels throughout the establishment.

Thank you Beechy Knoll for caring for Mum.

Even though our experience at this Care Home was short, we have nothing but praise for all the staff. They were all very professional but also friendly and very caring. The rooms and facilities were all spotlessly clean.
After our Dad moved into the Care Home we knew that he was safe and well looked after. He was settling in well and we all felt that he was very comfortable there.

From the first contact with the home to the sudden death recently of my father, I could not have asked for better support, advice, guidance and help from the deputy manager. When dad moved in, the welcome, care and kindness was both warm and professional. Every effort was made to help him adjust and his condition improved noticeably. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, day or night and his relationship with them all was excellent.

Marina Glaves
Marina GlavesJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2016
Length of time at Beachy Knoll:

I have been with Pearlcare at Beechy Knoll Residential Home since 24th October 2016.

Qualifications & Experience:

Before joining Pearlcare, I had worked with Sheffield City Council for 40 years in residential care; the last 20 years were in Management.

My ethos as Beechy Knoll’s Manager:

At Beechy Knoll, we have a “Can Do” spirit; we encourage residents, relatives, and staff to be involved in the decision-making within the home. Our ethos is that this is the resident’s home, and we are privileged to support them to enable them to live their lives as unique individuals to the full. The barriers have been broken down; our theory is that nothing is impossible; there’s always a way round to achieve what you want to achieve. We strive to ensure Beechy Knoll is welcoming, friendly, and safe to all who live, visit, and work here.

Biggest achievements whilst working at Beechy Knoll
Almost 5 years to the day, I commenced work at Beechy Knoll. The CQC rating was inadequate in all areas; CQC were to close us within two days, I attended meetings with Sheffield City Council and began the long road to recovery for Beechy Knoll. I recruited a Deputy Manager who had previously worked with me in SCC (Sheffield City Council) and an Administrator who I had also worked with; having built the Senior Team, we set about building the Care, Catering and Housekeeping Teams. Together we achieved a CQC rating of “GOOD”; what an achievement we had to celebrate. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength, building a good foundation to enable us to move forward.

Last Christmas, the residents and staff put on a Panto; they were involved in the organisation of it, making costumes, scenery and props. Cinderella’s Carriage was decorated by residents; the home was like a fairy princess castle and awash with glitter.

We celebrated one of our ladies' 105th birthday in July. After seeing this on our Facebook page, relatives were ringing asking if their Mum/Nan could have a party, as it seemed that everyone was enjoying themselves. So the summer has been awash with parties and entertainers; this has been amazing for everyone. We celebrate every occasion, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays, etc. The home is decorated to suit the theme of each occasion; residents are always involved in this.

This year we had a new conservatory; this has been an enormous asset to the home and is used daily for residents’ visitors and for craft sessions. Another addition to the home has been our newly completed Pod. This has totally transformed the garden area, with decking and comfortable seating; this has been enjoyed by residents, relatives, and staff throughout the summer.
