Darwin House is a privately-owned luxurious residential home. A beautiful Victorian building with elegantly proportioned rooms, complimented by a purpose-built modern wing with large individual bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms. All staff are caring, compassionate and supportive, working to build a strong rapport with residents.

Darwin House offers a comprehensive list of facilities available including chiropody, dentistry and all other health services. They also have a weekly hairdresser in a purpose-built hair salon.

Very satisfied with the care provided to my Aunt during her stay. The rooms are nice and bright, it’s clean, staff are friendly, food is good. It felt like ‘home’ to her. I enjoyed spending time with her there in the library when not in her room.

Nothing is too much trouble, the staff are always available with a smile. What we expected to be a very difficult time for my daughter was made so much easier by all the staff at Darwin House and in my mum's words she is in a family home.

It's taken until now to write this review on Darwin House as I am grieving losing my dad. Dad spent seven months in the care of Darwin House and it was an amazing place. Dad got the love and care he needed. He was a big character in there, the staff loved him. Thank you to all of the staff, you were

My mother had to go into Darwin House at very short notice, during the pandemic. I had to leave her at the door! However, I need not have worried, the care she has received over the last two years, has been exceptional. The staff are all excellent, caring, kind individuals. I cannot speak highly enough
of the place, the surroundings and the facilities.

Grandad moved in about a month ago and he has already settled in well. He says he is treated well and enjoys it. The staff seem very welcoming and kind - easy to chat to and seem as if they care about the residents' welfare. It is a beautiful building with a lovely dining room and Grandad says he enjoys
the food a lot. I feel that he is in good hands and am at ease knowing that he is happy at Darwin House.

Extremely impressed with the care and dignity given to my relative recently coming to stay at Darwin House. Very good at listening and responding to him about his needs. Darwin House seems peaceful and my friend who recently moved in there is very happy and feels the care is of a very high standard. The house itself is so spacious and pleasant and the staff seem to really know the residents and give personalised care of the highest standard.
Today, in particular,
one staff member was so kind and concerned about not only my friend’s comfort but even mine by providing me with a drink after I’d climbed the steep hill in warm weather! She also ensured we were in a peaceful space for the visit in the library so we could enjoy chatting.

Friendly staff and a well-run home. As not allowed inside due to Covid-19 rules not easy to comment but based on the video tour a very well-appointed home. Visits in safe outdoor pod well organised. Mum is happy.

Mum came for four weeks of respite, she had to spend the first 2 weeks in quarantine due to Covid-19 restrictions but she was never lonely as the staff kept her company. Once able to mix with the other residents she joined in with the activities. All the staff were very kind and made mum feel very much
at home. The food was superb so much variety and all delicious.

Staff are always polite and helpful to visitors and when I've seen them with my mother. On the phone, each carer is helpful and informative. My last visit was well organised due to Covid-19. Protection was paramount - instructions were clearly given. It gave me much pleasure for my mum to see me.

My mother has lived at Darwin House for two and a half years now and has been very happy. When returning to darwin after a trip out she always says "home sweet home".
Mum is not always the easiest person to deal with and Darwin staff and managers are very supportive and kind sometimes under very difficult
circumstances. I couldn't be happier with the care she is receiving.

My sister found Darwin House and when we took Mum to view the house she was immediately put at ease by the staff and shown around the property. Mum had been dreading the possibility of having to move to a residential/care home and was pleasantly surprised. When she moved in two or so weeks later, she
was very well looked after and fed and within the first week started looking better and was more lively.
Unfortunately, 'lockdown' due to Covid-19 occurred shortly after that and we were unable to visit. Whenever we telephoned to have a chat with Mum, the staff would always go out of their way to locate her, in the Library, in the Dining room or in her bedroom. Mum has dementia and so has difficulty with answering the phone, but once again the staff have always been very patient and helpful.
We are very happy with our choice of Darwin House as a home for Mum, we know she is safe, has regular checks and is well-looked after.

Our mum moved to Darwin House three months ago. Despite lockdown, she has settled well. The staff are very caring and approachable and give her hugs when we can't. They invite her to activities and help her to socialise but also respect her wishes when she just wants to read a book. Mum says the
food is very good and she enjoys the glass of wine! She speaks highly of the staff saying they are friendly and kind. The house itself is impressive with fresh tasteful decor and a delightful sunny conservatory where residents dine. The garden is beautiful with thoughtful landscaping. We have found the staff to be very good at letting us know about Mum's health and keeping us informed. We are also pleased with the medical care Mum has received. We are very thankful that Mum is staying here and would highly recommend it.

Over 2 years of residence I have experienced and witnessed relentless dedication to the care of their residents.
