Darwin House is a privately-owned luxurious residential home. A beautiful Victorian building with elegantly proportioned rooms, complimented by a purpose-built modern wing with large individual bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms. All staff are caring, compassionate and supportive, working to build a strong rapport with residents.

Darwin House offers a comprehensive list of facilities available including chiropody, dentistry and all other health services. They also have a weekly hairdresser in a purpose-built hair salon.

My mother-in-law has now been a resident at Darwin House for 4 1/2 years. The consistency of quality of care throughout this period has been exceptionally good. Staff show a genuine care and are prepared to 'go the extra mile' to offer support. The dedicated senior staff are very professional in their
approach. The management and leadership are totally committed to the well being of the residents and staff. High standards are expected and if staff don't comply with these standards then appropriate action seems to be taken. I've already booked a room there should the need arise.

The welcome given by the management team and staff when my mother went to Darwin was warm and so friendly and her room was full of personal touches which made her smile. After a difficult respite placement elsewhere, we were anxious, but our concerns were quickly relieved. The staff provide care which
is professional but personal and promotes independence and they have supported her to regain her level of walking and she wants to socialise. Mealtimes are a happy time and the choice and quality are excellent and she has regained weight. When we visit, it is a pleasurable experience and one we look forward to as Darwin House is a positive experience for my mother.

Mum moved into Darwin House in Sept 2018 through necessity (dementia). Obviously, we had concerns, but as soon as we met the staff, we were bowled over with their kindness, consideration, attention to detail and genuine care for all the residents. The care home is more akin to a beautiful home rather
than a business - it is always scrupulously clean, weekly fresh flowers, outstanding food and a decor that would be a credit to a top hotel.

Both me and my sister have been really impressed with Darwin House since our mum became a resident 5 months ago. All the staff including management, team leaders, carers and chefs go that extra mile to make mum's time at Darwin House pleasant. We are so pleased to have found a care home where everyone

My Dad's 3 weeks stay for respite care at Darwin House was a wholly positive experience. As this was his first time in care, he was naturally anxious initially but was quickly made to feel at home by the wonderful staff. Asa family, we felt that Darwin House was safe, well run, welcoming and very comfortable
environment. Dad was very happy there and we would definitely recommend it.

Every time I go to Darwin House, I am struck by the feel of the place. There is a sense of warmth and care and often of gaiety. It is clean, comfortable and cosy but what makes it special is that it feels as a home should feel - a happy home.

My mum stayed for 2 weeks respite whilst we (her daughters) went on holiday together. She really loved her stay there and we felt comfortable that she was being well looked after and safe.

Both my mum and dad are living together at Darwin House. The rooms have generous proportions, separate lounge and bedroom, and it is one of the few places that allows them to stay together as a couple. The communal areas are very pleasant and have a lovely comfortable, homely feel - carpets throughout
rather than cold, hard corridors, fresh flowers in the hallway. My parents always tell me how wonderful the staff are, and I can see that they are being cared for with great warmth and compassion. It feels a relaxed, homely and happy environment.

My parents were given a warm and genuine welcome on arrival from the manager and staff. It was comforting and reassuring as mum had been discharged from hospital that afternoon.

Mum has been at Darwin House for nearly a year. There's been one or two health issues which have been sorted efficiently but also with care and compassion. Darwin House is such a friendly place. It's like a big family home, always so welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. Knowing mum is looked after
so well is a big comfort to our family. My sister and I, if and when needed, will be reserving our places at Darwin House.

My mum was welcomed into Darwin House at very short notice following a nasty fall at her own home resulting in a broken wrist.


Everyone has been very kind and supportive not only to my mum but to me. They have recognised what a trauma it was for us both and we couldn't have wished for a better reception.


My

mum has only been there for 2 weeks but has settled very well and feels comfortable and reassured already. All the staff take a genuine interest in mum and me and nothing is too much trouble for them. Thank you all very much.
